Ugly Stick- I just don't get it.
Just my .02: The ungly sticks in the adds (the ones bent all the way over) are the ultra light ones. A Medium power ugly stick will not do this. (My friend tried this in a store and broke the rod. He then shoved it under the counter and hi-tailed out of there. Idiot. :) As far as the pros for the Ugly Stik, they will never break when fighting a fish in. As for the cons, they are heavy, have hardly any back bone compaired to other brand's simular powered rods, have cheap guides, are NOT america's most sensitive rod, and the foam grips wear much quicker than cork. The cons outweigh the pros by far, seeing as I have never, ever had even the worst rods break when fighting a fish. As do most things, ugly stiks have their place.

Best Deal On The Planet
lol I already made a thread about this... And to my surprise it was made 2 hours before roadwarroir's was. I thought he would be on that deal like a flipped light switch. I would buy some but its 6lb test... too light for my tastes.

SPAWN?
I'm guessing the spawn is almost over. The Lake Fork trip was during the spawn, and the water temps between you are probaly alike.

Bass eats mouse.
(no offense intended) I see no difference in hooking a worm and using it for bait, and doing the same to a mouse. People swat flies, posion ants and rats, then they say that you shouldnt hurt other animals. Doesnt make sense in my book. :-/

Bass eats mouse.
Wow thats sweet. I had a pet mouse that I wanted to use for bait, but my mom wouldnt let me. I wonder how you would rig it? through the tail? There doesnt seem to be enough flesh to hold the hook on it though.... :-/

GAS PRICES
LOL maybe not, but me and my friends have plans for a small trailer used to pull a 12ft canoe that attaches to the tandom bike I own. The sandwich-to-mile ratio wont be as good (probaly 1 PJ for every 5 miles) but you got to do, what you got to do!

Holla....if ya hear me!
Yeah its crazy. One day its too warm to fish with a shirt on, and the next day its so cold your hand sticks to the aluminum sideplate. (no joke)

Catch. Release. Repeat.
LOL great job! Just goes to show how great C and R can be! Why keep the bass when you can catch it later? Keep it up!

New reel
I would go with the Medalist, or with this one: http://www.okumafishingteam.com/reels/spinning/alumina.html It is all aluminum (diecast aluminum frame) exept for the rotor, which is graphite. Its got 8 bearings and I love the Okuma grips. Okuma has a great rep for spinning reels. Fish Chris uses alot of Okuma prducts. They have good stuff. I didn't look into the warrenty, but I'm pretty sure its good. tight lines Matt

GAS PRICES
Gas prices havn't, don't, and hopfully wont ever bother me. I get 24 miles for every peanutbutter and jelly sandwich on my ultra light fixed gear bike. There are plenty of fishing lakes within 2 hour bike ride around here. My dad is a serius biker. Last year he biked just under 10,000 miles on his Trek (wich was worth more than the van we just sold). (including a trip aross america) My family bikes everywhere, to church (12 miles) the store, basicly anywhere. If you changed gallons of gas into protiens the body uses while biking, the bike would get 2000 miles per gallon. (no joke) On some weeks the car only has 80 miles on it. Biking is a whole lot cheaper, more refreshing, and it keeps you in shape. This country is so worried about going places and getting things yesterday, even if it cost them alot of $$$ and is the less enjoyable option.

The Bass Bothers
Me and my friends have a fishing club that we call the "Bass Brothers". A week from this saterday is our first tournement, first prize: Bragging rights! Four of the six "brothers" have accounts here, myself, bassholebuster14, sean_e_bus_21, and fisherguy12. So far sean has the clubs PB, 6lbs even. We fish together all the time and hang all the time. Sean has come over to my house for the past 4 days and we have been making homemade lures. Here is a video I whooped up. Its 1.5 minutes long so it loads fast. Check it out! http://s52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/catfishguy/?action=view¤t=f5788250.pbr So now you know what it means when some people on here have ***Bass Brothers Meber*** in their sginature line. Rapala Tournament fishing!!!
Sean speaks the truth. I havn't touched a controler for months, ever since the high's where in the 50 degree range. Catching a 5lber in a game doesnt give you .0001 of the sadisfaction that doing it in real life does. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work, or videogames.

My first lure (swimbait)
Well I got myself a swimbait rod a few months ago, but all the wooden swimbaits cost way too much. So I decided to try to make one. Last night I started, scratched the first one, but the seccond one came out great. It is made out of seasoned maple (the only stuff I got around here) and is a tad over 6 inches. With hooks it will be about 2.25oz. All i have to do left is seal it and add the treble hooks. I drilled a smal hole in the bottom and added a weight (not sure how much it weighed, it was accualy a bullet sinker) Here are some pictures: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/catfishguy/IMG00025-2.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/catfishguy/IMG00028-1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/catfishguy/IMG00027-2.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/catfishguy/IMG00025-2.jpg I used a huge split ring off a old muskie lure for the joint. I tried it out last night in the creek behind my house and it runs perfect and has a great side-to-side action. I'm really happy it turned out well. Today I'm going to start making another one, probaly with a real lip and with three joints. Any tips? Should I put a weight in just the front joint? I have Oak, berch, and maple trees around here. Which one is better? Thanks and tight lines Matt PS Speaking of swimbaits, yesterday I was fishing my ML Bluegill for a hour and got a monster bass on. I had him for 3 split secconds, then he spit the hook. I almost has a heart attack. I'm going again tomarrow, today is cold and raining and sean_e_bus21 is coming over and we are making some more lures.
