Let me add some items to that list. In the 1800's the big cities all had a problem with hourse manure. They would have hand plows to clear the streets, but they didn't know what do with it all. They said by the year 2000 the intire east coast would be under 6ft of horse manure. In the 50's everyone was going crazy over global cooling. What next? I agree with muddyman. Where was all the man made stuff when the last ice age melted?

Here is a quick list of some lures you might want to give a try: Senko 5" black Rapala #7 Rat-L-Trap (silver w/ blue) Buzzbait (1/2oz black) Double bladed spinnerbait (colarado blades, 1/2oz, black/white skirt) You can read several articles one each of these baits in the article section. Once you get the hang of these pretty simple lures you can fish at most depths and all sorts of places. These baits catch alot of bass, so they are good to start out on. Once you get a lure down, keep on fishing it and learn a new one! Good luck Matt

My grandpa would always say when we went camping: "Leave the outdoors in better shape then you found it." The other day I was fly fishing near this dock and some idoit threw his wawa bag into the lake. Well that really ticked me off so I went over there with my waders and got it out of the water right infront of him. What are people thinking when they toss their trash into a lake when there is a garbage can 20 feet away? Geez I felt like giving him my peice of mind. I dont mean to sound proud, but I hoped it knocked some smarts into him to see that a 14yr old that acualy had the right outdoor morals than he didn't. I mean DUH there is a garbage can right over there. Some people are just too lazy, other people just don't care, and most people dont do anything about it. The number 1 reason why people do not let anglers fish their ponds is becuase of litter. Litter bugs drive me crazy.

I use the 7'11" Okuma rod and it does it's job well. I havn't really used other swimbait rods so I can't compare it, but it seems just fine to me. It has alot of backbone (i have the Heavy) and the split grip helps with casting. I use a Browning Six Rivers LP casting reel with 30lb Power Pro. The Browning is acualy made for steelhead so its pretty sturdy. Everything is aluminum exept the left sideplate. I throw Mattlures Bluegill and so far I have been running them close to the surface. I had some massive hits but have missed them for one reason or another and have yet to catch my first swimbait fish.

I'm going to stock up on jigs and place a massive order on jig heads and skirts. I was wondering, how dense is a 40 strand skirt? About average? How about 60 strands? edit Oh yeah, how do snootie jigs pull through algae? Thanks Matt

I fish the slop any chance I get. Around here the surface alege grows really think (up to a foot of nasty green slime in late summer) and sometimes slop fishing is the only way to fish. I use a SPRO Bronzeye frog, slowly run it over all the junk, and the bass come up and slam it. It isn't very productive, but you got to do what you got to do.

Hey I was looking around barlowstackle.com and I'm intrested in makeing spinnerbaits. To make 24 unpainted head 1/4 and 3/8 baits, with varius blade sizes and types, silicone skirts, all the beads and other junk, it cost $39.50 ($1.67 each bait, not including shipping) Know of any other sites where I can get the stuff cheaper? Do I need any tools besides needle-nose pliers? Thanks Matt

Growing up sucks. I'm the only fisherperson in my family (my dad goes once every couple years) so I have to bike where ever I fish. But I rather be 14 and biking than 21 and driving. Every birthday life gets worser. (lol pardon my grammer) This culture wants everying now and everything yesterday. People wish they are older so they can do stuff, then they wish they are younger so they are.... younger. Enjoy every day, becuase before you know it you'll be 50 and wishing you where 15 again.

Simply mind-blowing. Amazing stuff. Question. How come most of the really big hawgs have so little green on them? I noticed that most of your big 'uns look silver instead of green. Is it just me?

(or any other file) go to www.imageshack.us click on browse select the file (My Pictures is under My Documents) select picture click the "remove size/resolution bar from thumbnail" button click "host it" (takes a minute) copy the URL in the "Hotlink for forums 1" box paste the URL where ever you want the picture to show up in your thread (while posting/modifing)

I sharpend the hook on my scale, so I just punch it through their mouth and weigh it that way. (or just use the hole made by the hook from the lure) The hole heals in a day or two. IMHO its much better for the fish than weighing them by the gill.

I stay up late at night looking at the BPS catalog. I sit in bed thinking about catching fish. I spend all afternoon fishing or doing somthing fishing related. My allowances are for funding my fishing "passion" and for that only. (exept tithe) I dont watch TV at all. Exept fishing shows at a friends house once in a blue moon. The only reason I do my school is so I can go fish and I can later get a job so I can buy more fishing stuff. The only site I visit reguraly is BassResource.com. I wear my clothes to be comfertable when fishing, not to look nice. I spend my evenings twittling with tackle and reading about fishing and mysteries. I'd rather fish than play video games, chat online, BMX/skateboard, or other "cool" stuff. Some people call this the baitmonkey, others call it the "bug". I think passion is the right word.

In that case members posting photo's should try to use uploading sites, right? (photobucket, imageshack) Alot of people upload via this site in the Outings board. If we could cut down on that it probaly would make a difference.

The cold froent defenatly gave the bass lockjaw around here. We where slamming them one day, and the next 3 cold ones we never got a bite. The small ponds I fish react to the air temp faster then multi-thousand acre lakes, so the bass may have responded differently. Its going to be in the 50s tomorrow, and I'm going out for most of the day.
