  1. Fresno Bee has a short report: http://www.fresnobee.com/sports/outdoors/hunting-fishing/article72742137.html Also look up Central Coast Kayak Fishing website.
  2. My son has an emotion. I recommend this yak. Only advise, get a seat. Go to emotion and get their seat or create a seat. I bought a chest/seat life preserver, Walmart, and clipped it to the back rest. Dry back end and pretty comfortable. Just remember, have fun, you are not on the shore and fish could careless about the brand of kayak you have. Go get'em.
  3. I keep it easy. Spinning rod; 8# mono or #10 braid. One baitcaster; #30 lb braid for deep fishing like jigs. The other; #12 mono for cranks and top water. I have these three set ups on my kayak.
  4. Chevy Silverado, red flag, one strap and off I go.
  5. My two cents; Abu Garcia black max 3 with a Berkeley shock 7 or 6'6 with 12 lb mono- trilene. Get the same combo with 30-40 lb braid. All you can get at walmart. Rbm just gave you a great spinning combo.
  6. Its a good yak but no seat. The tarpon has a great seat. A seat is key if you are fishing for hours. To me, a seat is important than stability, dryness and standing.
  7. Small surgical scissors and tension is key.
  8. Wilderness system tarpon 100 is all you need. If still wanting cheaper, perception pescador or emotion kayaks. You are giving up standing but with the tarpon you get the slide trax to add the electronics. Light, easy to carry and transport.
  9. Still waiting.......
  10. Can I add to this? Another myth I heard: 8# FC and #8 mono, when you stretch FC, FC does not return to #8 but stays at the stretched weight, say #6. But mono bounces back to #8. If the myth is true, and with this stretching data, FC is actually weaker than mono after stretch which actually happens when wet. Expensive line that will stretch, become and stay weak. Hope this made sense. Great research and data. I learned something new. Thank you Fry.
  11. One season for the worms and another year for the rest. I thought I had a lot but now I realize that I don't have enough. I would be divorced if I had 10 years worth of plastics. LOL
  12. Go with a kayak. Wilderness System Ride 115; You can stand, wide, stable, little heavy and no trailer.
  13. Trilene mono from Walmart or Amazon. Great stuff and cheap. The fish love it.
  14. Frank, drive down into the 559. You have Eastman, Hensley, pine flat, bass lake, success, kaweah and the aquaduct. Fresno has sycamore island. The forebay at los banos for stripers. But, you are on the Delta. I would not venture out. For the delta, invest in a kayak. Compact, easy to transport and gets you on the water. Go to Dicks sporting goods and look at the pescador. Great starter boat.
  15. For me, comfort and confidence is first. I will always fish with mono and braid. I keep it simple and old school.
  16. Zoom worm on split shot rig for our cement canals like the aquaduct.
  17. Trick, out in cali, yes we fish in freezing weather, 50 degrees. If it rains, we are done. We pack it up and go home. LOL Trick, all joking aside, you will get wet in a kayak or canoe. I went into this sport knowing that I will get wet and I will be limited in space and gear. So focus on your life jacket, your seat and what makes you more safe, warm and comfortable.
  18. This would be cool to do. Ive never been in a tourney. I would be using a wood ruler from school. LOL Just keep in mind, your 8 pm is only 5, and still nice and hot, here in Cali. So you all will be up until midnight waiting on us.
  19. Thanks Bruce I knew BR would help
  20. I have a Wilderness System Tarpon, 10 foot. I love my yak. I fish small ponds and reservoirs. If you can, go to Dicks, BPS or any kayak store and sit on them or test them in the water. At Dicks, Perception Pescador is the same as the Tarpon but cheaper. My son has the Emotion brand from REI (west coast shop). Emotion has nice kayaks.
  21. I have a question about my BM3. I was trying to open the side plate but I can't. This reel does not come with the old screw to loosen the side plate. This reel has a spring resistant rod instead. Do I pull that rod back and slide up or down? take out the rod completely? I did not want to break anything so help??? I have the curado I and that is easy to open with the bottom button.
