Feel Free Kayaks
Feelfree makes great fishing kayaks. The Moken and Lure series are very nice but they are not designed to use with a trolling motor. If that is what you really want then take a look at the Minnkota powered Old Town Predator XL... that design has had me drooling since it came out last year. I fish out of a Native slayer 12 and it is a good kayak and I like it but their are many new models that have hit the market in the past year that I think I would like even better. QUICK GET THAT YAK MONKEY OFF MY BACK!

If You Could Tell A Company To Make Your Custom Bait..
I'd just want Berkley to bring back their 4" Pulse worms from a few years ago. Those things caught me 90% of my bass during the years they made them and I have not found anything as good to replace it.

Choose Your Weapon!
I own an Avid X and have used a Gloomis E6X. The E6X is ok but the Avid X is easily the better of the two. I have not fished with the Powell so I can't compare to that one.

Help Selecting Rod
Avid is a great rod. I have an Avid X and a regular Avid and love both rods. I also own an older GL2 and love that but I don't like the new ones nearly as well.

Good Reel For Under 100$
The Okuma Ceymar and Cerros are good reels under 100$. I bought a Ceymar (54$) for my son who is just starting to use a baitcaster and found it to be a darn nice reel for the money. I also own a Cerros (99$) myself and really like it. Both would look great on your Vendetta rod. I also have never met a Lews baitcaster I didn't like and there are a few to choose from under the 100$ mark.

Hats Off To Cashion Recognizing The Kayak Bassers Needs
Probably old news to some but I just discovered that Cashion rods make kayak specific rods featuring shorter handle lengths. This is a big plus when sitting in a kayak with the rod right in front of you, with the shorter handle your not getting stuck in the gut. There are a few rods out there like the TFO rods that also are a little shorter but not like the specific kayak rods Cashion has. I will definitly be looking to try some of these out.

Buying Rods From Amazon
2nd time around and still don't have the rod i wanted. This time the replacement rod from Amazon was in 1 piece however it was the wrong rod. They sent me a guide select swim bait rod instead of the TCS rod I ordered. I chose to get a refund on this one ... I'm done with trying to get a rod from Amazon.

Buying Rods From Amazon
I'd have to say it was Due both to poor packaging and lousy handling. It would take an awfully careful handler not to damage it with that packaging.

Buying Rods From Amazon
I had recieved an Amazon gift card so I decided to purchase a couple rods. Ordered two new rods, one was a Fenwick Aetos that came direct from Reeds Sporting Goods and The other was a Okuma TCS that came from Amazon. The rod from Reeds arrived in the usual heavy cardbord tubes that most venders use and in great shape. I would expect nothing less from Reeds as I have done business with them and been in their store in the past. Now for the not so good news... the rod from Amazon arrived in a flimsy cardboard box with nothing but some paper wrapped around it, no bubble wrap or anything and the box and rod had been folded in half making a really nice 1 piece rod a 2 piece. Yes, a new rod is already on it's way from Amazon and hopefully it will be in one piece, but with that packaging I will be surprised if it does. Bottom line is if you buy a rod from Amazon, I would strongly suggest getting one that comes direct from a reputable vender and not straight from Amazon.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Pulled the trigger today and ordered 2 new rod and reel combos: Dobyns Fury 735c paired with a Lews Tournament MB (Pithching/Frogging combo) Fenwick Aetos 6'6" med. spinning rod paired with a Pflueger Patriarch Magnesium Spinning Reel (This will be my new Smallmouth/walleye sweetheart combo.) Now I'm like a kid before christmas waiting for santa (UPS or FedEx) to bring mynew toys.

Just Starting To Fish Via Kayak, Have Some General Questions
I also fish alot from a kayak and if I had just one rod to use from a kayak it would be a 6'6" to 6'9" MH spinning rod. It might not be the best for everything but can be a jack of all trades rod for just about anything you would want to throw. Could go 7' if you wanted but I personally prefer something under for throwing accuracy in tight spots. I tend to use my older rods in my kayak just in case I dump one overboard so your on the right track with not spending too much on your setup. I would look at the 6' 6" MH Shimano Clarus rod with a Pflueger President 6930x reel, this setup would be perfect. I'm a 260lb. heavyweight ... NO flipping way I'm standing in my Native Slayer 12.. LOL

Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 For Texas Rigs?
I have a 7ft. MH veritas 2.0 and yes it's closer to a heavy so I would look at the Med. action for what you want. Sensativity is fine for the 3/8 and 1/2 oz. jigs and texas rigs I toss on it but I have not tried one for lighter weights as I usually use a spinning rod for that.

Versatile Casting Rod On A Budget?
I have a few 7ft. MH rods that can handle a wide array of lures and fishing styles. A MH 7ft. rod with a moderate to fast action would be the most all around i my opinion. Brand choice would be up to you.

Fenwick Hmx Rod
I have a 7ft. Med. HMX spinning rod i purchased last summer. Made a few outings with it and it has now been relegated to a backup rod only. I found it to be too heavy, unbalanced, and not sensitive enough for me. There are many better choices out there in the sub 100$ range. I replaced it with a Veritas 2.0 and very pleased with that.

Duckett Ghost Power Rating Comparison?
Ok, I'm going to give a Ghost a try but I'm not sure wether to go with a 7'3 MH or Heavy for pitching 1/2oz. jigs and soft plastics around docks and laydowns. I have used a Veritas 2.0 MH and it is just right for what I want. So how does the Ghost compare? I know it's supposed to have a much softer tip but does that mean a MH ghost might be too soft for pitching jigs?

Kayak Bass Fishing!
Great to see so many kayak fisherman. It's one the hottest things going and growing like wildfire across the country. LOVE IT!

Kayak Bass Fishing!
I fish out of a Native Slayer 12. I need to get some good pics to post but i have it setup pretty much just like turtle's Ride 115 is.

Kayak Rod Holders
I'm a kayak basser myself. Those rod holders are meant to just hold the rods you're not using. If you want to troll i'd suggest getting a scotty mount rodholder and mount it in front of you where you can easily reach the rod.

What Are The Most Under Rated Lures You Use
Berkley Pulse worms. (discontinued) Caught me more bass than all my other lures put together. Still have 2 bags left but I wish they still made them. Saving them for those tough days. Also the old Heddon Torpedo is deadly on the smallmouth.

Braids Tried So Far
Stren superline for me. Tried a few others but keep coming back to the Stren. Suffix 832 was ok but has a little more memory to it than the Stren. Granted I haven't tried the more expensive braids as I haven't found a reason to and I'm a tightwad...LOL.

How Do I Choose Rod Length? And Power?
I fish from a kayak alot and I really only carry two do all rods to keep it simple. The first one is a 6'6" MH Falcon Buccoo spinning rod (could also be a Med. rod that's not too soft). this rod I use for throwing everything from soft plastics to spinnerbaits. It's my workhorse setup. I find spinning gear a little easier to use from a seated position in a kayak. That being said, my other rod is a 7ft. Hvy. Falcon original that I use for throwing frogs. Were i fish its shallow laydowns and slop so I don't really need a rod for crankbaits but if I did a 7ft. med rod would be the one other rod I could see myself needing.
