  1. I will try when I get back from vacation. But in the mean time imagine little grooves worn unevenly across the bottom half of the insert. Not sure how deep they are but you can feel them when you rub line across them. Together they form serrations across the bottom of the insert.
  2. I use braid on my gl2 No wear or tear so far. Fwiw I just started a thread about duckett ghosts wearing grooves with line, so there are definitely still rods that don't
  3. How long have you used it and for what? What kind of copolymer?
  4. +1 for carolina rigging. Definitely my favorite way to fish lizards and my favorite c-rig lure
  5. Ive been using a couple Duckett Ghost rods for a while now and I've really liked their performance. But last time I was out I noticed that I had two mysterious break offs mid-cast. I was throwing a rapala dt-10 crankbait on my crankin' model ghost. I looked at the last line guide and noticed severe grooving on the insert or the chrome they line the inserts with. It looks like a butter knife serrations. I use this rod entirely for cranking and use PLine floroclear as my line of choice for this. I had read that the chrome inserts may not stand up to braid very well but I was suprised to see that floro coated copoly had worn them down over a year of albeit quite a bit of cranking. Now I'm worried that my setup with braid will suffer the same demise. I guess my point is one, as a warning about these rods, and two, to pose the question, does anyone think using mono will make a difference over time to limit the grooving? I could easily switch my cranking setup to mono but the braided heavier setup is really more useful with my preferred braid.
  6. The sales are the same pretty much nation-wide. Check their website for your local ad. Maybe you're going in at the wrong time.
  7. Found these at DSG for $6.97 each and had to buy them!
  8. FYI a Yum warning shot is pretty much what that would look like
  9. I had the same dilemma between the same rods! I went with the Fenwick and so far I've been happy.
  10. Ive always been a fan of Keitech swing impacts but recently ive been liking the Bruiser Baits Evil Twin
  11. I thought CX was OK. Better than cxx which is somewhat difficult to manage. I still prefer florclear though. Handles much better and seems less visible to me.
  12. Less speed spool is on mine. Balances well and I find the round profile reels fit better in my hand with my ducketts
  13. Its got 10 magnetZ!!! MagnetZ are heavy!!!
  14. Grand slam select is also very good. It is a little thicker than PLines though
  15. I use braid for everything except cranking. I will use a leader if need be for jigs and Trigs. Spinning gear is the same. Just more manageable, castable, etc for me.
  16. 1rod1reels videos kinda suck.... Very little information and cringeworthy at times. Seems like a weird guy. Very nice, but weird. Every fish he catches is huge until he gets it within 4ft. Ever get tired of hearing "Lets go!" Jon B from FTMW is my new favorite. Very informative and he puts production value into his videos. Seems like a cool guy.
  17. I didn't mean anything by it. I just know 100% that DSGs specifically are not supposed to be selling these right now. Not even supposed to be on the floor. If they're ringing at registers its a computer error, or theyre overriding by using a similar UPC because they didnt read memo about keeping them from sales floor and now they have an angry customer and who cares anyways its not Jordans. I was just surprised to hear that so many stores hadnt gotten the memo AND ignored the register prompt. Then on top of that, that other big retailers weren't agreed to a hard launch either. There's something to be said that these are not advertised for sale yet anywhere. Just speaking purely as a vendor, if this were a Titleist or Nike product, those retaikers would be in trouble. But anyways, its silly because its a launch date for a lure. Who cares amirite?
  18. The register wouldn't ring the item until hard launch. Hard to beleive that would be localized to specific regions. Must be a computer error.
  19. I agree that line choice was wrong here. CXX is fairly stiff. Go with regular mono to start.
  20. Not for sale at Dsg. They have them but they're locked at the register until 2/29.
  21. I use them all the time. I will definitely say they break more often than most finesse or mosquito hooks, but they are thinner for the most part and penetration is very easy with a light hookset. Play your drag right, and you should be while dropshotting anyways, and you wont have any problems.
  22. I like the ZMAN worms. They float well and are very durable. Had good look with them last year. I use ZMAN Finesse worms, SK Perfect Plastic finesse worms, robo worms, robo worm fats, and zoom trick worms. All work well. I usually use ZMANs when fish are finicky and I am barely moving the worm, the rest I mix up depending on what colors are working at the time and what i happen to have in the bag.
  23. I have both and I am a big fan of both. Great values for what you get. The baitcasting version casts well and is smooth. It has a slightly strange frame shape to it. It isn't long/wide like shimanos are but its not rounded quite like some Lews and Abus, its somewhere between. Still pretty comfortable to fish with but kinda sits strangely on some of my rods with certain reel seats.
