Is there a better tube/grub rod than an Avid at $200
Since I fish tubes and grubs more than anything else I want to get a nicer rod to throw them on. Currently I am fishing them on a 6'9" ML HMG with a Stradic 3000. Line is 10 lb Power Pro to a leader of 6-10 lb mono. Is there a better option than the Avid in the $200 price point?

Shimano NASCI
I have fished the BG but have only handled the Nasci. This is from Shimanos site and I don't see where it says Hagane body only gear. If it is a metal body and not composite my opinion on the best $100 spinning reel just changed. http://fish.shimano.com/content/sac-fish/en/home/products/fishing-reels/spinning/nasci.html

Shimano NASCI
I like it but I think the Daiwa BG is a better reel for $100. The Daiwa has a full metal body with a direct drive handle.

Stradic - FL, FJ, FK, FH etc etc..
Go with the FJ if for no other reason than the handle screws straight into the main gear. One thing to think about with older model Shimanos is once that model has been out of production for 5 years they no longer make parts for it. That is why I got my FK it was super hard to find a new anti reverse bearing for my FG so I got fed up and just got a new reel.

Stradic - FL, FJ, FK, FH etc etc..
I use the 3000 because it holds about 50 yards more of 10 lb braid vs the 2500 while being the same reel size. I also prefer the T handle on the 3000. I would not hesitate for a second to get a 2500 if I found one for a good deal as it is plenty of reel for inshore and bass fishing.

Stradic - FL, FJ, FK, FH etc etc..
I have used the Stradic FG and the FK. Both are amazing, I had the FGs for close to 15 years before going with my FK. I personally don't like a 1000 series reel due to line management issues with non braided lines. I currently use a 3000 because I will also use this reel for inshore salt water and like the slightly larger spool over the 2500 but if you are only going for bass a 2500 should work just fine.

Shimano nasci vs Pflueger supreme xt
Imo Shimano makes the best spinning reels on the market bar none once you get to the Stradic and above. Below that I look at Daiwa. The BG is my pick for a 100 dollar reel and the Procyon is my pick at the 150 price point. The BG is just simply better than the Nasci and the Procyon is better than the Pflueger imo. It should be noted I put more of a value on durability than I do weight. Both Daiwas have metal bodies so they are not super light weight but they are tough.

Lews Custom Speed Sticks
I have a chance to grab some of these locally for $100. I have never fished a Lews rod before so I am wondering if any of you guys have experience with them? If so how do they compare to other rods in the $150 range? The ones I can get are the Tube rod and the Magnum Spinning 1.

Line choice for spinning and crankbaits?
I have seriously thought about putting together a combo like this for small jerk baits. I know this is a bit off topic but what rods are you guys using for this purpose? On spinning gear I always go with braid main line and leaders as needed.

Falcon rods
I still have a 13 year old Lowrider that is going strong. Very underrated rods imo.

Need a new bass spinning reel
For $50 you cant beat a Pflueger President, above this price point I go to Shimano.

Question about line in general
One thing to look at it is line diameter instead of lb test.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
In my hand the K2 blank from Phenix is slightly more sensitive than either of the offerings from Loomis. However my only experience with the Phenix was on a custom build so that might vary from the over the counter K2. For that much money though I would seriously consider getting with Mike at DVT and have a custom build done. With a custom you can have the taper, power, and length all custom done to exactly how you want it.

Spinning Rod for small soft Swimbait
Currently using a ML/F for this but I find the rod slightly under powered. I will be going with a M/F as a replacement at some point.

What's your #1 hardbait for smallies?
I only chase them in rivers but mine has to be a craw colored Shad Rap.

Shimano NASCI 2500 vs. 3000
I just stopped into my local Cabelas and the frame on the Nasci 3000 is the same size as the Stradic FK 3000. They did not have a 2500 Nasci for me to look at it but I would assume it would share the same frame as the 3000 just like the Stradic FK does.

Sir I would like to thank you for causing me to spit coffee on my monitor this morning!

Will smallmouth eat small bream?
I know the smallmouth in the river I fish will eat anything they can get in their mouths. They seem to prefer crawfish and smaller shiners but they are pretty versatile in what they can and will eat.

Fall smallies
Really nice fish!

What are your favorite paddletail swimbaits?
Currently I really like the Keitech Easy Shiner in the Smallmouth Magic color but I hate how easy the tail tears off. What are you guys using? Specifically this is for a trailer on a jig head.

Top five smallmouth baits
On the river I fish I could get by with just a black buzzbait and a green pumpkin grub. However since its 5: 4 inch grub Popper buzzbait ned rig jerkbait

"Translucent" Braid
I use green power pro often with no leader and the river I fish it is uncommon to not see the bottom. I have never once thought to myself if I was using fluro right now I would catch more fish. I honestly think it is pretty hard to see 10-20 lb braid underwater because its just so thin.
