You might be a Fishaholic if...
Just spent the last 4 hours on bassresource.com You spend so much time in fishing stores and departments you can help the employess when a customer asks them where something is located. A week later when back in the store, the employee asks you to help explain the difference between flouro and mono to a customer.

Duke Vs. Carolina
No problem. Once again, let me know. Basketball is basketball, but people are what's important. We are not from this area from the mountains and have had an opportunity to help as we can when family, friends, and friends of friends/family have had to come either to Duke or UNC for care. IMO, that's why God put us here to help others get through the tough times. I have somewhat of a similar struggle. I despise dook basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, golf, etc., with a passion, but, IMHO, Duke's med school and hospital is top notch. The VA at Duke TOTALLY saved my Grandfather's life. He was 84 with a very bad heart condition and elected for somewhat of a risky surgery. The VA hospital in Roanoke, VA wouldn't operate on him so they sent him to Duke. There were complications during surgery and he was literally dieing. Hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life was call my Mom and tell her that her father was about to die and she, along with the rest of the family, needed to get here now. They tried a new procedure on him that was developed there at Duke but had never been done for someone of his age. After a lot of prayer and a few hours later he was fine! I learned that the docs at the VA Hospital are the same docs that are at the Duke hospital. They literally go across the street to the VA hospital. I found out later that the surgeon operating my Granddad was the guy who developed the procedure and was one of the top cardiac surgeons in the country. I had 6 more years with my Granddad thanks to Duke.

How many in a good day?
Just one is good enough for me - dink is better than a skunk any day - I hate the SKUNK! Feel like a total failure.

When did you last catch a fish?
Day after last Thanksgiving. Caught a couple nice ones on a megabait charlie.

What's the strangest thing you've caught on the end of your line?
Late in the summer I pulled in a chatter bait I had lost back in the spring. The blade was a little tarnished but the rest was perfect. Still using it.

just curious
I love my 'pod! Got the 40GB one for Christmas a couple of years ago. Jonesing for the 80GB as I exceeded the capacity a year or so ago. Love itunes as well. Its a good tool to keep my music organized - over 100GB.

Duke Vs. Carolina
Understandable. So, sorry to hear your tumor has returned. Yes, its just a game. Somethings are more important than basketball. Please let me know if you or your family need anything while you are here. We will do our best to help anyway we can. We are about 20-30 mins from the hospital - on the other side of Chapel Hill. I work 5-10 mins from the hospital south down 15-501. Let me know if we can help. In the mean tine, will lift you up in prayer.

Duke Vs. Carolina
I agree preach4bass - see a Tar Heel and Duke can get along - Duke is relying heavy on the 3-pt shot. Live and die by the 3-pt if its falling, you win, if its missing you lose. Of course, my heels last night were doing the same thing with Hansbrough. They would pass the ball inside to Hansbrough and then turn into spectators. If Hansbrough missed, Duke got the rebound and were off running. It just kills me, becuase those guys are so much better than that!

Bob Knight
Great coach who was very passionate about the game - got the better of him at times. I loved the fact that he told it like it was and didn't play the games with the media. My favorite "Knight moment" was when he was doing a post game press conference and asked a reporter to repeat his question. He then looked at the reporter and pointed to the glass in front of him and said the glass could ask a more intelligent question than he could. That was a riot.

Duke Vs. Carolina
:'( Good game by Duke. arrrgggghhhhhh.... The three-point shots hurt - on both ends - and the missed FTs really hurt as well. Hansbrough was about the only one that showed up but he missed to many FTs. Greene was playing well but fouled out. The defense was poor as Duke got almost any and all shots they wanted - and they hit them. All Duke had to do was 2x & 3x down on Hansbrough and they would shut down the offense. We were outplayed - Duke wanted it more - as much as it pains me to say that. Still proud of my 'heels though. I'll be flying my colors tomorrow, like I was today, for the dookies I work with. That's what makes the rivalry fun. GO HEELS!

Burley, I typically agree with you - and do once again Tyler Hansbrough gets away with a lot: 2007 NABC First Team All-American 2007 Sporting News First Team All-American 2007 AP Second Team All-American Unanimous 2007 All-ACC First Team Selection 2006 AP Third Team All-American 2006 Rupp Award First Team All-American Sporting News 2006 First Team All-American Selection 2006 First Team ACC All-Tournament Team Selection Unanimous 2006 ACC All-Freshman Team Unanimous 2006 All-ACC First Team Selection (Hansbrough is the first freshman ever to earn this honor) Unanimous 2006 ACC Freshman of the Year 10 time ACC Rookie of the Week (ties Kenny Anderson of Georgia Tech for most all time) Most Points by a Tar Heel freshman in a game Most Points by a Tar Heel in the Dean dome Awards and recognition for his God given talent, that is..... And he just passed MJ in scoring at UNC.

Barely Dodged A Bullet
Glad your OK, RW. I saw the news this AM when I logged in and was thinking about you and yours. Its been a real tragedy. We had some of the wind here in NC today form that storm - it was massive and I still hear it outside - and I know it's just breezy compared to what you guys have went through. Hang in there and let us know how it's going out there.

Duke Vs. Carolina
Jimmy V - yes a Tarheel quoting Jimmy V but he was a great coach - said that if you can win the last 5 minutes for the first half, the first 5 minutes of the second half and the last 5 minutes of the second half you will win the game. I have noticed that this typically holds true. I will give my 'heels a slight edge in the last 5 mins of the first half - especially the last 3 mins. We need Lawson in the game. Ginyard is doing well. I love Quenton Thomas, ran into him back in the summer at Dick's Sporting Goods and seems like a real good kid, but, bless his heart he is a turn over waiting to happen - great defensive player but I find myself getting anxious when he's at point. Hansbtough is carrying the team right now. The others need to step it up a bit

GO HEELS!!! The last minute or so has me a little concerned. We need Lawson in the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best quickest knot(s)?
+1 8-) +2 Fastest knot that I know. + 3 Ronnie +4, the only thing I do not tie the palomar on is an ice jig +5 for the palomar. Gotten pretty fast with the San Deigo jam not after watching one of the pro's tie it on TV. After looping it through the eye and then pinching back up the leader, he let the lure hang loose underneath and swung it around creating the wraps. Tuck it back under, through the loop and wet it a little and cinch it up.

What's the oldest you got?
Not the caliber / quality of some of those posted here, but, very special to me. These belonged to my Father-in-Law - a man I loved and admired. He caught a lot fish on them He loved to fish. He fished the streams and rivers back home (in the mountains of North Carolina) - Pisgah Forest, Cherokee, Bakersville, Spruce Pine. My wife remembers using them when she was a child. She remembers when her dad would come home from work on Friday evenings, they would load up and head over to the "river" and grill hamburgers and fish until it was too dark to see - with these rods. I've done some work on them. Took the reels apart and cleaned. Cleaned up the cork on the lower one, plan on doing the same for the upper, but, like to keep the "rustic" look. The upper one has decent windings and the guides are decent. The lower has wire wrapped guides. Have been toying with the idea of replacing them with some nice modern guides and nice wraps. Best I can tell, they are at least 30-35 years old - and they still catch fish. I use them on occassion and all my Dad will use when he leaves his rods at home.

Did you have another hobby besides fishing?
HA! Good one, Muddy. Either way, it works for me - bass or bass!

Did you have another hobby besides fishing?
Music - my first love. Don't play as much as I use to, hardly at all compared to once upon a time. Was hoping to make a career out of it, but, some things are more important (see avatar). Great thing about this "hobby" was that I made pretty good money at it - nothing better than doing something you enjoy (would even do for free) and getting paid for it. However, 2 weeks into a 6 evenings a week, 2 matinees on Saturday, 8 week theater run makes you wonder if the contract was really worth it. Name it, and I've probably played it at some point over the last 20+ years - classical, rock, jazz, fusion, etc. The bass in the middle (sitting in front of the amp) is a custom made Keith Roscoe bass. The first time I saw this "bass" it was a chunk of wood - literally, the bark was still on the slab. 8 weeks later Keith gave me the best bass I have ever played or heard in my life.
