Alpster, Like with flechero, when I looked in the forum and saw you replied to this my - first thought was - Ronnie's going to be there?!?! Double Dang. Will let you all know how it goes. Looking forward to it. Know its a trip for you guys. I am lucky that I took an interest in this just several months ago and now this conference is happening in my "backyard" - couple hours away anyway. Will definitely post how it goes.

Daytona 500 - Who is Going to Win?
Glenn, I'm with you. Don't care much for the COT. It has it's pros and cons think it is the safest car/frame that has ever been constructed for the drivers (HUUGE plus) and I like the fact that it does introduce a lot of strategy. BUT. its basically reduced NASCAR back to the old IROC days. And what was one of the main criticisms of IROC? BORING. After watching all the pre-race stuff I do miss the old days when the cars on the track looked like cars you see on the road. Now, the only way you can tell if it's a chevy, is to look for the bowtie DECAL. Call the cars what they really are Hendrick, Penske, Roushe, Gibbs, etc. built car that is sponsored by chevy, dodge, ford. I'm sorry, but IMHO calling those cars a dodge/ford/chevy is like calling a 150 lb goliath grouper a bass. Yes, technically it might be, but, it doesn't look like any bass I have ever caught at my lake.

What do you do for a living?
IT Solutions Architect for a leading NC Health Insurer. Been here over 10 years last month - this was suppose to be temporary. I don't particularly "like it" but its very tolerable and provides a good living for me and my family. Job I enjoyed the most was as a mechanincal engineer working for New Port News Shipbuilding designing aircraft carriers. Second was when I was a UNIX admin building and administering IBM SP2 systems. That's what I came to my present company for and wound up staying.

Custom Rod Building Exposition
flechero, When I saw you replied was hoping it was to say you were going to be there. Dang! I just saw the seminar schedule was posted recently. Some good classes coming up. Will definitely be sitting in on a few. Thanks for the heads up on the deals. This is my first trip to one of these. Yes, think I may have to make a trip back to High Point Sunday afternoon.

Trucks
My ride. 1997 Ford Explorer with 130,000 miles. V8, all-wheel drive, leather, and power everything. Not once have I regretted buying this vehicle. Absolutely love this ride. Got it to haul my music gear around and now hauls my fishing stuff and takes me anywhere I want to go. My dream vehicle - see Jake_P's boss's ride.....

Daytona 500 - Who is Going to Win?
+1 Congrats to Newman +2 Good job for Newman. Was really hoping Stewart would take it, but, nice to see Newman back in the winner's circle. I have never cared for Kurt Busch. But, I have new respect for the guy. He helped out a teammate and didn't try to make it a three way finish. Busch showed some class and real teamwork that I didn't think he was capable of - very cool. 8-)

Bank Fishing Tackle Box?
Get a backpack. I have one from Cabella's that is great. Much easier to walk through woods, grass, etc. with a backpack caryying a couple of rods than a tackle box. I fish almost everything from the bank. My only comment is that deep diving cranks can be a pain if the bottom is dirty - weeds, sticks, grass, etc. Drop shotting will work, but, use a heavier weight that you are use to to keep contact with the bottom. My favorite from the bank are rattle traps and weight less worms.

Hardest fighting freshwater fish?
Smallies by far for a wrestling match for anything that I have caught. But, oz-for-oz, bluegills have just as much fight as a smallie just on a much smaller scale.

Do you have a favorite fishing memory or outing??
Last summer, watching my Dad fish through a tub of worms and slaying the bluegills. He quit counting after 20. He was like a little kid having a blast. It was great.

Reminder
Backups are critical. May I recommend Dantz Retrospect - now EMC Insignia. The software use to be provided with WD external drives. Its very easy to use, can be totally automated, password protected and provides compression of data. Provides a continuous incremental backup - backs up every file it finds and keeps it in the backup set. Makes a snapshot for each backup for complete restores. When I first started using it, tried to make it like the systems have used at work with complex scheduling and backup sets - but - there is no need for it, define a script and schedule and just let it run. I backup to external 300GB and 500GB drives on my PCs. Don't mess with the backups until a drive fills up. I rotate the drives out and store the old one. Its a great piece of software and having lost two PCs over the years has been a life saver. Have been using it for years on all my home PCs. Couple of months ago, lost both internal drives in the PC in my office. Was able to get everything back from my backups - email, docs and my iTunes library which is over 100 GB. Took almost a day to restore but when complete everything was there.

Same place my basses are going - to my little girl. Whether she fishes or not, she knows how much they meant to me. Also, she would have her Granddaddy's rod and reel as well.

Daytona 500 - Who is Going to Win?
Yeah, I rushed home thinking the race started at 2. Its almost three and they haven't even started talking about the start. I will say its really cool seeing all the old school guys. The piece on Allison and Yarborough in the '79 race was great.

New fly tying bench
After having my fly tying tools in cardboard boxes and no where to keep them, decided to make a fly tying bench. Started this over a month ago and changed the design several times. Used old scrap lumber I had laying around in the garage - spent less than a dollar on this project. The plan is to build a "prototype" then after I have it situated and arranged the way I want, will rebuild in oak and finish. Nothing is glued, so I can take a part and rebuild using better wood - one day.... : Getting started in the picture below. I had the left side complete and on the bottom board. Initially, wanted it a little lower than the back "wing" thread holder. But eventually decided against it and made everything level/flush. made the back thread holder supports shorter and it all worked. The next weekend when I worked on it, decided I wanted to make the back wing thread holder a little wider. So, chopped the first one down and put it on the board as an "orgainzer" and wire holder. Was a pain boring out for the thread holders, but, really like the look of the recessed holes. Got it complete weekend before last, but, was unable to do anything with it until last night. Tied a couple and really like it - nice to finally have somewhere to keep my stuff instead of the cardboard box. However, I am thinking the right side holder will have to go - wants to get in the way a little for my right hand/arm. Think I will attach it to the left side like a stair step and make a short one to replace it. Overall very pleased. The best part - I have $0.55 in it - for the doweling I use as the thread holder.

Coming to Orlando
Hey, I was not able to rent a boat and fished from the shore. The boating schedule is really weird - think I have it and will try to get it for you. There is some really nice areas on the shore line and a couple of docks. Its a really nice lake and think it gets a ton of pressure.

Coming to Orlando
Hey, I was in Orlando late last fall for a conference. My fishing was limited to evenings only. Turkey lake is nice. Very nice facilitiy. But, you can only rent boats on certain days - think it was like Monday through Thursday in the AM only or something weird like that. I still have the information - I think - for the lake and will try to find it for you. The number for the boat rental I had scribbled in my phone was 407.299-1248 if you want to call for information. The bite was tough when I was down there in October. I did manage to catch a 2' gator on Turkey lake. Also went to Toho a couple of times and got skunked. Talked to some of the locals on Toho and they said the fish just weren't biting. Also, I was told by FrgoTog to check out Stick Marsh. It's about a hour and half from Orlando. Also, PM George Welcome and let him take you out. I talked with George, but our schedules wouldn't work. I enjoyed hanging out at BPS while there. Spent too much money though :-[

Bass Pro Shops Lingerie
The best way to "model" lingerie is to show it wadded up lying on the floor. That's the best way to buy it. Go into the store, take it off the rack and throw it on the floor. If it looks good lying there, you buy it.

Band of Brothers Mini Marathon
One of my all time favs. Like others love WWII history and read Ambrose's book before watching the series. This is one of the few instances where the movie stuck to the book AND was actually better IMHO. Have the DVD set and watched it several times. Its amazing to realize that 1) these were "kids" doing what they did and 2) if you saw these "old guys" around town you would never have any idea what they had done for this country. They are the real heros. Captain Winters was an incredible leader. Looking forward to this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374463/ Hopefully it will be as good as BoB. Man! I may have to watch some when the littel girl takes her nap this afternoon.
