Must do Modifications
Don't know if it's a must do, but I trim the weedguard on jigs so that its just beyond end of the hook. Saw Stacey King do it and makes a lot of sense. Trim the skirts on some of my spinners - just to change the form up some. Only cut the forward part of the skirt just in front of the hook when folded back. Saw KVD do it and I guess its as close to fishing like KVD as I will ever get. Does give a different profile in the water - a little bulkier profile up front - as compared to a non-modified spinner.

Thank the Good Lord above she was able to get in the PharmD - a lot people got turned down. Congratulations and good job. Think its a great profession.

Cable Company (rant)
Sorry, man. Have you got TWC done there? I had DirectTV when we first moved in here. They brought cable in when enough of us commited to getting it and I wanted HD and DVR. At the time you had to PAY close to a grand for HD and DVR on DirectTV.

Ric Flair
I remember watching wrestling with my Granddad when I was little and Ric Flair was the man! He was on with Blackjack Mulligan, Wahoo McDaniel, superfly, Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat and The Amreican Dream Dusty Roads. Amazing he is still wrestling. Say what you will about wrestling, but those guys are good atheletes.

I hate computers
Hey, sorry you are having so many problems. Yes, computers are a pain - I really have to question if they do make life easier..... Anyway, couple of thoughts. Do you think your business would spring for a LAN attached printer? There are several out right now, multi-function at that, which attach directly to the network. Should solve the Win 98 remote print issue as it will be a generic LAN printer. Will also take some of the load off of the current PC where you have a database running. Are you having any luck getting your business to get away/upgrade from Access 97? As you are already painfully aware, the latest code probably will not work and Microsoft no longer supports - if there is an unrecoverable DB crash (or win 98 OS corruption) your business is totally screwed. And - as you know - you as the IT guy, well, it will be all your fault. Let us know how its going.

Bill Dance
Very cool. Have always enjoyed Bill Dance - knowledgeable and entertaining. If I ever meet him though, gotta get him to tell me how to work that dancin' eel..... Watched his show and work it the way he says, but still can't catch anything on it. Bought two when they came out and lost one last summer - was not upset at all.

Quantum Reel
Check this thread out: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196634425/3 I have several quantums and love them - the KVD BC's and spinners, along with a couple accurist AC500s (which are similar to the KVD BCs). My first was the Quantum Tenacity BC several years ago from Dicks - which is another Dick's Exclusive like the Escalade - that I still use. Quantum is not one of the "preferred brands" here on the boards, but, I can say after three years of using them I have no complaints. Now, I am not a tournament fisher but I am out very often and work them pretty hard. Something to keep in mind though is that the Dick's exclusive's are hard to get parts extra parts. When I got the Tenacity I wanted to get extra spools - could not be found. Quantum did not even list the tenacity reel on their parts web site (think it was built on the Pulse/array frame but was not sure). Have extra spools for the KVD and Accurist but couldn't find for the Tenacity. The Escalade is a higher quality reel so extra parts might be available, but you should check if this is something that interests you. This reel does appear to be built on the code frame, but the internals might be different since its a Dick's "re-brand". The KVD I have is based on the Accurist, but, I can tell you the internals are differnet: spool, cast control and drag. So, even though they are the same on the outside, I wouldn't assume parts (spools) are interchangeable should you get a code one day in the future. Like FishGuitBeer said, it probably does not have the bells and whistles of the code. But, for $69 you are getting 8 BB and 7:1 retrieve which is pretty decent for a new reel. I like Quantum, but would encourage you to take your time and look around to find what you want. You're doing the right thing by asking here on the boards. Another thing with taking your time, with a lot of these Dick's specials, it will be less in a few months.

Pflueger Trion = Gold Medalist Pro?
Just posted and saw your thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1206417279/0 Like deja-vu all over again when I saw your picture. The reel on the left is a Pflueger Trion I bought at Dicks last year. The reel on the right is a BPS micro-lite I got last week. They are identical. Looks like we have three reel bodies that are the same.

Pflueger and BPS Micro-lite supreme
The reel on the left is a Pfluegler 6 BB Trion I bought at Dicks last year. The Reel on the right is a BPS Supreme 8 BB micro-lite I got last week. WIth the exception of the BB's, handle and names - they are absolutely identical. Even the drag and free spool switch are identical. When I pulled the BPS out of the box last week told my wife, "this is a Pflueger!" Not complaing, I love that Pflueger Trion - one of my favorite setups. Paid $39 for the Pflueger at Dicks which came with a pretty good rod. Got the BPS micro-lite first of the year (back order) on sale for $29 and came with an extra spool. Anxious to get it strung up and hit the water. No doubt who makes this line of reels for BPS.

Most informitive PRO or SHOW......your opinion?
The Lindner's, Bill Dance and the Bass Pros - KVD is very informative and Stacey King's tips on jigging have been very helpful. Agree with other's, Bill Dance might be hocking products on private ponds but I feel he gives a lot of information on what he is fishin and how. His recent show on soft plastics was one of the best I have seen in a long time.

2008 NCAA Tournament - Bassresource pool & bracket challenge
I hear what you are saying, Muddy. But, lets face it, we know what is driving the locations, host sites and brackets; same reason there is not a playoff system in DIV 1 football - REVENUE the almighty $. The NCAA wants to sell tickets, host sites want full hotel rooms/restaurants/bars and both parties want fans spending lots-o-money. This weekend in Raleigh the "conservative" estimate for generated revenue was projected at over $4M dollars for local businesses that does not include NCAA related sales - solely what local business will take in. Some local restaurants and bars expected to make close to what they make in a month this past weekend. If the NCAA were really interested, and focused, in determining a national champion they would limit the field and go to a best of 5/7 series at neutral locations. Better yet, limit it to the conference champions like in the old days before the at large tournament bid. But there is too much $$ at stake and with everyone wanting a slice of pie don't see that happening. I'm with you on Davidson. Amazing run. The tourney is far from perfect, but, its watching things like what Davidson is doing that make one overlook the flaws and that leads to the madness of March. GO HEELS!!!!!!

2008 NCAA Tournament - Bassresource pool & bracket challenge
Sorry, but that statement is not correct. There is no "rotation" among host cities in NC or any state. Hosting sites have to be bid - that's true for all sites that want to host tournament games. Raleigh announced recently they will start organizing for first/second rounds in 2011 or 2012 - do not meet the NCAA reqs for hosting final 16 or higher. In addition, NC did not host any NCAA tournament games in 1985, 1990, 1995, 1996, 2002 and 2003. Prior to 2004 when Raleigh hosted for the first time since 1982, it bounced between Greensboro and Winston-Salem and occassionally Charlotte (once in Chapel Hill). Charlotte began hosting more frequently after the Hornets started playing there (mid 90's) and after the final four was hosted in Charlotte in 1994. I know it appears that NC is always hosting tournament games, but hey, this is Tobacco Road.

2008 NCAA Tournament - Bassresource pool & bracket challenge
KU_Bassmaster - agree 100% with the need for consistency. Couple of years ago Duke finishes #2 in the ACC regular season, wins the ACC tournament and winds up a #1 seed in the east playing in Greensboro. Next year UNC finishes #2 regular season, wins the ACC tournment and winds up #1 seed playing out west. As far as an unfair advantage for UNC playing in Raleigh, oh well, it's part of the luck of the draw. Carolina had a good season and gets to benefit from the second time in umpteen years that Raleigh has hosted the first round of the NCAA tourney - last in 2004. (in 2004, Duke played as a #1 seed and Wake as a #4. UNC was sent out to Denver even though they had a better record and ranked higher than Wake.) Texas makes it to the final four this year - they benefit from from a schedule made 3 years ago. Michigan or Michigan State makes it to the final 4 next year, they're in Detroit - just part of the tournament.

First Good Iowa Bass of '08
Nice fish. Agree. The weather can be really screwy at times.

2008 NCAA Tournament - Bassresource pool & bracket challenge
Works for me. Sure the UCLA fans feel the same way, too. Its all about seeding (pods) and revenue. Number one team in the nation, and number 1 seed, should be allowed to play close to home. We the fans have been supporting them all season. Nice to see them playing locally in the NCAA. Go Heels!
