Well, after catching her first hybrid, Paula was all fired up to hit the river again and whack a few more. She did just that! She tied on our own jig, stuck an Uncle Josh pork trailer on and went to work. Believe it or not, but after two strait nights of catching these, she looks over at me and says, "You know what babe? I think I like catching smallies better. I like the way they jump during the fight." What a gal...I'm not worthy!

Hey folks. I figured you all are probably getting a little sick and tired of seeing my ugly mug all the time, so I took my better half out on the river with me for her first night trip of the season. She worked the bass and redeye over pretty good and topped off the night with her very first hybrid. She got all her fish on our own hand tied jigs. I say "ours" because she can tie them better than me! Here's a few pics... Paula's first bass of the night. This was her best smallie of the trip. Last but not least, her very first hybrid.

To me, there is just something magical about fishing after dark. You should tell us a little about yourself, which baits and tactics you prefer to use and what type of water you fish. I've been fishing after dark some lately, primarily for smallies, but I've been catching some hybrid stripers as well. All the hybrids I've caught so far have been on a pig-n-jig. I thought I'd post a few of the better pictures I managed to get. I've been having an awful time getting clear shots, so several pics. weren't even worth posting. Here's a few that came out pretty clear. Got this smallie on the same jig. 19 1/2"

Photo looks real good. Nice bass. I haven't heard any reviews on Strike King's version of the chatterbait, it's good to know you're catching fish on them. Great job.

Good job fellas. Those are some great photos. I love to fish at night also, but I don't always get such good photos. In fact, some of the better fish I've caught don't get posted because I screwed up the shot. What make/model of camera did you take those shots with? Any advice on shooting after dark?

Great photo dude! That's a real good looking smallie. I wouldn't fret much about the weight of it, I always go by length on smallmouth, and 19" is a darn good smallie anywhere.

I would recommend the Mann's Baby 1-minus. It has a super wide wobble, casts a mile and catches numbers of fish as well as big ones. All the local WalMarts around here carry a nice selection of these cranks. This lure has been especially good to me and ranks right at the top of my favorite crankbait list.

Great pictures you got there. Definitely not the most beautiful smallie I've ever seen, but at 3lbs. I would take time out to pose for a picture with it. I love to see women out enjoying the same things that us guys obsess over, and judging by those photos, it seems that you have a knack for it. I wonder if there aren't certain bass fishing techniques and presentations where a woman would naturally excel over her male counterpart. Back when my mom fished, she lived and died by the plastic worm, and she scored big with it. My girlfriend likes a spinnerbait or a jig, and she's caught quite a few big'uns. What do you like to use? Any lure in particular that you prefer?
