  1. I like about a half hour before sunrise as well
  2. I use 15 lb p line cxx on my t rig setups. Works fine on my tatula, curado, and exceler
  3. I went with the lews. Due to the smaller size
  4. I've had a few two piecers from when I needed to fit them into a car I was driving before I got my truck. Never had a problem with them vs. a 1 piece.
  5. ok. Here is what I got going on in my head. Manic for 79.99, Menace for 99.99 or Lew's lfs speed spool for 99.99. Don't want to spend over $100. Can't decide....also have a gift card for $65 to academy, that's why im locked into those three choices at academy.
  6. how you like the manic??? that was the other that I was debating on. It looks good as well. I understand the manic has mag brakes and the menace has centrifugal brakes.
  7. Anyone have anything positive or negative to comment on the h20 xpress menace from academy? Looking at grabbing one this weekend
  8. How does your dad like the villain?? Even if it doesn't work out so swell for glides I may still find a use for it.
  9. I can get the villain for 60$ is really why I'm asking. Don't want to be anywhere near 200$ lol
  10. Just recently got a few glide baits (s waver 168s) and threw them this weekend with some success on a MH quantum IM6 rod rated 1/4-5/8 oz. It really felt like the rod was underpowered for these baits. So my question is, for a "cheap" rod for these types of baits, would the abu villain 6'9" MH be a little better suited for these baits? Being as the MH abu's tend to fish more like a heavy so I'm told.
  11. I got the baby bass and the lite trout. Caught them all on the light trout. I was going to ask you if you modified the joint for a wider swim. You answered that question
  12. Any tips on retrieves? I'm using the 168's. Fishing them on a MH rod.
  13. Tried out my new s wavers today and got 3 fish this morning with them. The rest on t rig and senkos.
  14. Right that's kinda what I thought...may have to check it out in store. Which usually leads to it following me home...
  15. Anyone have an opinion on this reel? Looks to be a rebranded okuma helios of some sort, and is on sale this weekend I believe for 50$ off reg. price. Let me know if you think it would worth trying or not.
  16. I don't really have any luck on them either, especially the spinnerbait. I get far more bites on weightless plastics and trig plastics. I really think it depends on the certain body of water. Some places I fish the fish will hit a swimjig, but the place I referenced in this thread they won't even look at it it seems. Plus, everyone fishes a spinnerbait, I think the fish grow immune to them
  17. A daiwa exceler for that price is a must buy. I got one for 50 at academy on clearance. Very smooth reel. Feels as smooth as the tatula I have. I actually prefer it over my tatula as the thumb release is much more smooth and effortless than my tatula. Daiwa is hands down my favorite brand for casting reels.
  18. Thank you for the advice. It's appreciated. Also, the gander mtn gsx elite I use is one of the best feeling rods I've used so far. It's hands down my favorite. Looks amazing too.
  19. You are correct. It is rectangular shaped, with a more shallow bank on the north end opposite the boat ramp. I've been mostly finding fish along the perimeter. I think the middle area is a barren wasteland for the most part. I have most success with trig baits and swimbaits. Recommendations on wake baits or bluegill swimbaits to try?
  20. I use a regular backpack from walmart with 3 Plano trays. Simple and easy enough.
  21. Wind was around 20mph so I swapped the frog for a chatterbait. No hits on that. Caught 1 fish on the cut r worm and the rest on a trig rage craw. Not a bad night. I fish a paddle tail on an owner flashy swimmer underspin almost every time i go out.
  22. right. I took that chance on the set I have now (cooper at3) and have ran them for 6 months or so. cost me 100$ for the set. probably have a year left in them. I would just be buying these bf Goodrich's to have until the current tires wear out. there almost comes a time though that the cost of mounting a used set of tires (would cost 100$ to mount all 4) almost outweighs the benefit of buying used....decisions decisions...
