  1. I found bass fishing while recovering from a methamphetamine addiction 2 years ago. Needed something to do to fill my time so I picked it up on a whim. Found out I enjoyed the never ending learning process and pure fun, and now I'm addicted to bass fishing. Lol
  2. id look towards house brand rods. cabelas, gander, academy etc.
  3. Ya I thought about that. But also thought the extra fast tip on a medium power rod may be perfect for senko fishing. Fairly sensitive blank that the rage rod uses from what I've heard
  4. Thanks for your input guys
  5. Recently rediscovered the fish catching ability of the senko. Hadn't used them in a yr or so and needless to say I have started using them again. Question is, would a 6-10 or 6-8 mxf St.Croix rage casting rod be a "good" rod for primarily fishing senkos? It is currently on sale at a store near me for 65$. I'm thinking that's a heck of a deal...tell me if I'm wrong?
  6. For a cost effective brand of rods, I like cabelas. Seems to me you can get great rods for a lot less money than a name brand rod of similar specs. I have 3 that I love so far for the money I paid. Another rod I speak very highly of is gander mountains gsx elite rods. Catch them on sale and its an extremely good value. Best rod for dollar that I've personally used. All of this is just my opinion though.
  7. Got my rudder and transducer all ready to go this weekend. Love this little boat.
  8. I always start with educated guesses regarding weather patterns, and time of year. So I rig up my rods with lures I "think" should work. I then usually start with hitting the spots I've caught fish before, but if no dice then I either change lures or techniques, then move to different spots.
  9. I like the pflueger president. Although you didn't mention it, the Mitchel 308 pro that I have has been a dream to use for a year or so. I really like it.
  10. Ok. Thankyou much for your help
  11. Ahhh ok now I understand what you were saying. Misunderstood you, sorry for any confusion
  12. U miss my point. The usable space on the bottom of my trolling motor is 4.5" long. The trolling motor transducer I have is 6" long. I'm thinking of mounting it to the bottom of the rudder that I mad out of an old trolling motor bracket and shaft.
  13. Caught this little lady last weekend skipping a dock with a senko. Caught another of similar size on a 3.8? swing impact on an owner underspin.
  14. Paca craw or rage structure bug. On owner sled head or keel weighted swimbait hook, but mostly 1/4 bullet and ewg 4/0. Usually brown variation or black and blue
  15. I use straight pline cx copolymer 8lb. Seems to do just fine for me. Just have to make sure the drag is set correctly.
  16. Thanks. Ya like I said I'm loving it so far. Have a garmin striker 4dv I'm going to put on it soon. Very excited lol
  17. I'm not trying to argue...just picking your brain. Didn't some of the older old trolling motors have little to no skeg?? Maybe I'm wrong but like I said just asking.
  18. Got off work and hit the pond for an evening fix. Tried a yum money minnow and caught a few. No dice on the senko. Finally figured them out throwing a zoom ol monster with 1/4 Oz bullet on the steep drop off near the bank. Second time out in the new to me bass raider. Loving it so far.
  19. Nobody??? Lol I'll just go for it then
  20. Daiwa. Slowly switching from shimano to daiwa for casting reels. Both great products...in my opinion. Ardent....not so much for the money.
  21. Got a question for you knowledgeable folks. I recently got a bass raider and want to outfit it with a garmin striker 4 dv. Also want to mount the transducer to the trolling motor. But, the transducer is 6" long and the usable space between skeg and prop of the minn kota is roughly 4.5". So my question is, does anyone see a problem with me removing a partial amount of the skeg in order to make enough room to mount my transducer on bottom of the motor?
  22. I bring a back pack with 3 Plano trays. 1 for term. tackle. 1 for hard baits and 1 for jigs and spinners. 10 or so packs of soft plastics. 3 rods. 1 spinning outfit and 2 casting.
  23. Registered for the site a yr ago but didn't really use the account part till now. So figured I'd reintroduce myself. I'm James from wichita ks. Been fishing 1.5-2 yrs. Just recently aquired a bass raider so I'm very excited for the fishing yr.
  24. Im basicaly self taught / learned most everything from this forum. Began fishing a yr and a half ago. Just thought of going fishing one day, so I bought a cheap combo and fished till I caught a dink on one of my grandpa's old worms that was handed down to me. now I can't control the urge to go fishing...my dad never fished nor anyone else in my immediate family.
