  1. @TOXIC, A lot of the waters I fish are filled with aquatic plants, so I've removed the rear hook off of most of my lipless lures. Yes, the fish shake loose, but no more than if the lure had two hooks. I don't fish tournaments so if I lose some fish it doesn't matter. Usually the ones that shake loose are the ones that go airborne.
  2. Has anyone ever done this? I mean add a spinner to the tail end of a Red Eye Shad (I don't mean the chipped paint - that happened when a bridge abutment moved into the path of where I cast my lure. It's amazing how fast bridge abutments move. LOL.) It catches fish and has the same shimmy when you let the lure fall. However, I do not know if it is any better than a non-modified RES. I would like to know if anyone has tried this. Size 3 willow leaf spinner is attached using size 1 split rings and a size 8 Spro Power Swivel.
  3. @Ksam1234, Now's your chance to create an Alabama rig using buzzbaits! LOL!
  4. @Wes Davault, I just did a search on Burke and there's something called a Burke Hunchbak 2021 for sale. Looks similar to your photos. Good luck with your searching/research/etc. (Yours has 2019, the one for sale has 2021 - my guess is that isn't the year! LOL)
  5. @Wes Davault, The one with the spring and weight inside is a Whopper Stopper Throbber. The spring and weight was supposed to make the lure quiver on the surface when you paused the lure. I don't know if it worked because I never had one (I just remember reading about it in a fishing magazine). The frog in the second to last picture might be a Bill Plumber frog (not sure of the correct name).
  6. @mcfishing620, I agree with you that they shouldn't have done away with a lot of the One Knocker previous colors. You might want to take a look at the Strike King Red Eye Shad Tungsten 2 Tap. I just bought some and have only tried them once so far so I can't tell you if they are good or not. But, they do make a knocking type sound.
  7. It's "ee-ka". I think ika means squid in Japanese. An "i" is pronounced "ee" in Japanese.
  8. Perhaps a Japanese copy of the Falls Inch Minnow?
  9. @massBass, Thanks. I'll probably try bread.
  10. @ matt Litten, I did a quick search in the 2017 Strike King catalog and the Spence Scout doesn't seem to be listed. You can download a catalog from the website strikeking.com
  11. @attila, Thanks. I will give that a try.
  12. I saw some small (14-18 inch) carp at a local lake. If I want to try to catch them, what size & type hook should I use?
  13. @Bluebasser86, What happens if the blade is bent the opposite way (away from the hook point)? Does it become unstable?
  14. Are the weeds getting stuck on the hooks or are they getting caught between the bill and the line?
  15. How many different types of fish have you caught in fresh water? How many just in North America? Rules for counting: 1) Fish must be caught in fresh water. 2) Fish must be caught using rod & reel. 3) "Types" includes hybrids. For example, a wiper (hybrid between white bass and striped bass) counts as a type. So if you've caught a white bass, a wiper, and a striped bass, you have three types. 4) Lifetime count. I'll start it: I have caught 16 types of fish. All in North America. (Many of these fish were different types of panfish caught when I was a teenager. Now I'm probably limited to about half a dozen different types of fish (limited by time)). I'm guessing many of the BR members will have much larger numbers.
  16. If you are fishing in Florida, my guess is Blue Tilapia.
  17. @everythingthatswims, @IndianaFinesse, thanks for the details. I did not realize that they charged an entry fee and charged for a special measuring mat.
  18. If you caught a long enough fish (I'm not sure which fish species qualify), would you submit for an IGFA All Tackle Length Record?
  19. Thanks. I just took a look. I guess I missed the latest on that. Great stuff!
  20. @Comfortably Numb, did you custom finish those?
  21. Didn't Manns make a Pogo Minnow that had a down turned tail? I wonder if that worked the same as the Rapala Ripstop?
  22. The IGFA website lists the All Tackle Length Record for channel catfish as 80 cm (about 31.5 inches). It also lists the All Tackle Length Record for largemouth bass as 65 cm (about 25.6 inches). Length records are somewhat new, so many people probably don't even know about it. For example, I'm sure many people in Florida catch LM bass that are over 26 inches. Check it out at wrec.igfa.org (hopefully that's not a forbidden website). I am not an IGFA member and it let me use option 1. You can choose All Tackle or All Tackle Length Record.
  23. I like fishing for bass and I like fishing for trout. But I'll fish for whatever is biting.
