    What about a dead worm?
  2. @MichiganBass80, Yes, Cabela's has had some of them for awhile. They were in the Cabela's catalog in January. But by the time I received my catalog and went to the website, most of them were out of stock.
  3. @Columbia Craw, @kdw96, Is it a 100 series? The photo @PianoManBJEJ posted looks like the line tie is on the tip of the lure and not on the bill.
  4. As a kid, my two confidence baits for bass were a crawfish-colored Rebel Deep Wee R and a black-backed chrome Cotton Cordell Spot. For trout, a yellow roostertail.
  5. Happy Father’s Day to all of the Fathers out there! My dad has Alzheimer’s and no longer remembers who I am. But I remember him and the times he took me fishing as a youth. Instead of spending money on himself, he would spend his money on his kids (I have a brother and a sister). For me, he would take me fishing (he probably had more important things to do, or things he rather be doing). He would spend money to rent a boat and we would fish mainly for trout. He didn’t know anything about fishing, and despite my teenage knowledge that I was the better fisherman, he would often catch the biggest fish or the most fish (LOL). As an adult, my dad and I would go fishing and I would always hope that he would catch something (so that he would continue to go fishing with me). He no longer remembers much of anything, so I can’t reminisce with him about our fishing trips. If it were possible now, I wish I could have a day with my dad, where he would remember who I am, and we could go fishing. So, dad, I hope you know that I appreciate the sacrifices you made to make your son happy by taking him fishing so many years ago. Happy Father’s Day.
  6. @buzzed bait They are also at Tackle Warehouse. How does the "funky top blade" work? Does it spin like a willow blade or does it do something strange?
  7. @Jigfishn10, I like your "contraption"! I'll have to try out your suggestion. I have almost as fun trying out different ideas as I do catching fish.
  8. I had this great idea to modify my single blade spinnerbait by doubling up the blades. One colorado and one willow (concave sides face to face). I thought it would have the "thump" of the colorado and the flash of the willow. But when I tried it, there was less vibration than the single colorado. Great Idea, but didn't work. The fish didn't think it was a great idea either! LOL.

OK, I finally had a couple of hours of free time to go fishing and try out a bunch of stuff. The bladed spoon in the picture is a 1/2 oz Northland Jaw-Breaker spoon with the Chatterbait blade attached with a split ring. Since I have a second Jaw-Breaker I tried it first to see how it runs. At a moderate retrieve, it runs somewhere between 8 inches to 1 foot below the surface with a nice swimming action. The bladed version ran very shallow (at a moderate retrieve, maybe 1/2 a foot at the deepest. At a faster retrieve it was in danger of breaking the surface). It vibrated like a Chatterbait, but the swimming action was not there or minimal at best. An interesting experiment, but I ruined a Chatterbait when I removed the blade, and the bladed spoon did not work as I imagined.
  10. Go to lurenet.com
  11. @Bluebasser86, I like the rod in each hand and a fish on each rod! Also, at about 2:24 ish there are some big birds being harassed by a little bird.
  12. I think it's a hybrid between a brook trout and a lake trout
  13. Nice fish, but it looks larger than 4 pounds. Better get a new scale!
  14. I don't know if this helps or not. I have non-ProModel Series 4S. They rattle. The KVD 1.5 and 2.5 do not rattle (the ones I have do not rattle, but I think BPS sells both "silent" and "rattle" versions). The 4S is larger than the KVD 1.5, and smaller than the KVD 2.5. The bill on the 4S isn't the same "square" shape as the KVDs. The 4S bill is wider at the far end of the bill than where it meets the body.
  15. The first time I used a redeye shad, I hook a fish on the 12th cast. I reel it in and it's a catfish. I go to unhook the catfish and it flops around and the hook that's not in the catfish goes underneath my right index fingernail past the barb. The catfish and my finger are connected and the catfish keeps flopping around. There's blood all over my shirt and the people walking past are probably thinking it's the fish's blood. Wrong! Luckily, the catfish flops around so much that the hole in my finger gets bigger and I am able to pull the hook out. Unfortunately, my finger really hurts, and since I use spinning tackle, my fishing day is done after only 12 casts.
  16. I found some living rubber that I had stored away. I left a couple Z-man Elaztech baits on it for about a week. I assumed nothing would happen, but it looks like the Elaztech does something to the living rubber. The living rubber was flat, now after a week's contact with Elaztech, there is slight deformity to the living rubber. See attached photos. Oh, the elaztech did not melt into a mess. I do see slight lines (I assume from the living rubber individual strands).
  17. Nice fish. There's a Bass Resource Fish Weight calculator that estimates weight based on length (or length & girth if you have both measurements). Go to the tools section.

I was trying to remove the blade from an old chatterbait and the eye of the jig broke. So I had this blade that wasn't attached to anything. I decided to attach the blade to a weedless spoon. Does anybody think this is a good idea? In what situations would it work better than a regular chatterbait?
  19. Let us know if it works.
  20. Great project! What was your final decision for painting/coating the lures?
  21. This year it's everything in my tackle box. So far, I've only been able to go fishing once this year! But seriously, probably an inline spinner. I don't use them for bass, but my Dad had a favorite Mepps he used for bass.
  22. I've done something like that with my spinning reel!
  23. I like grilled cheese. There's actually a restaurant near me called "The Melt" that I've been wanting to visit. They have some unusual grilled cheese sandwiches (but I'd probably order the Classic). I was going to say this only happens in California, but I just looked at their website and they're also in Colorado and Texas.
  24. Cgolf, Interesting topic. Let us know what you find out on the clear vs white plastic. A-Jay, I have a non-silent RES that is in Sexy Ghost Minnow (partially clear). It wasn't made right and the cylindrical weights rattle slightly when I shake it. I haven't used it yet (because of the other lures filling my tackle box) but I guess I should. I know that some of the old versions of the Cotton Cordell Spot would have the lead in the head portion of the lure loose and it would make a different noise. I used to go to the store and shake the lure packages searching for them because they seemed to work better. They probably thought I was crazy shaking the lures next to my ear!
  25. Well, I put a standard and a 2-tap on a postal scale and set it to grams. The scale precision is whole (integer) grams. They both measured the same (although the 2-tap "feels" heavier). The difference in weight must be very small - less than a gram. If someone would give me 100 of each type (and give me a better scale), then we could compare the weight of 100 standard RES to 100 2-tap RES.
