What do you guys here think of an Ugly Stik Elite 6'6" medium/extra-fast casting rod for fishing jerkbaits?
I never been a fan of Ugly Sticks but I don't see why it wouldn't work for this technique. They tend to have a moderate to fast taper with soft tip.

Techniques Where FC Main Line Is A Must ?
I don't think it's a must but more of a personal preference. For me, I like it for jigs and soft plastic. After that, its debatable but it is my go to for line in general.

Best polarized fishing sunglasses under $50
One more for Shady Rays. I bought my son a pair and I got a spare pair, of their choice, for free. He likes the pair he has and the pair I have I use for working outside. They get hit by lots of grass and debris when I am using the weed wacker or my saw. They are not exactly safety glasses but they have done well so far. I would say they would be great for fishing. Plus, if you loose or break a pair, they will replace them for free.

St. Croix Avid Series Spinning 7’ Medium VS G. Loomis E6X Spinning Rod 7' Med 842S SJR
I have a couple of the Avid spinning rods and have enjoyed each one. I have picked up the EX6 and really didn't care for it. It's seemed missed placed compared to other G. Loomis rods. I can't say for sure what it was about the rod I didn't like. It's just that it didn't feel like a Loomis. So my pick would definitely be the Avid.

Vision 110 plus depth?
Great lure but like other jerkbaits, water temp does effect it. That doesn't seem to effect the fish that hit it though. I have it in Elegy Bone and French Pearl.

Neko Macho
Bought some a few weeks ago and blew through a whole pack on a trip to my local honey hole. I tried other stuff that day and this bait was what was working. I think I caught the most on a weightless t-rig with a 4/0 or 3/0 (can't remember). Great bait though.

Winter sale
Order placed. Can't wait to test out the new jigs.

Don't let the bait monkey get ya, 2020 edition
My list for Black Friday is just to refill some stuff for 2021. I will get hooks, tungsten weights, senkos, jigs, line, some crankbaits, and one Megabass Vision Jerkbait. I am saving up for a G. Loomis Conquest so my list is limited. The plan is to pick it up next Spring. Not sure what reel I will put on it but can't wait for next year.

Rod for 3/8 Texas rigs and 3/8 buzz baits?
A little over your budget but, and I have probably over recommend this rod, the St. Croix Avid 7' MH Fast. It will do just about anything.

Using braid with a leader on micro-guide rods
Micro guides and leader knots, to me, are just going to make casting more difficult, even with the best knot.

My Scorpion Workout
Hopefully it will haul in some heavy fish instead..... . I have been eyeballing a Scorpion since I picked up the Curado K. At that time, I found a new Scorpion for the same price but didn't pull the trigger. I like the K and it is a great reel but I kinda wished I had gotten the Scorpion.

FC or braid
I use braid for topwater, FC for most things, and mono for crankbaits. Poundage is based on the choice of rod/reel, lure, and structure.

Seaguar InvizX On Sale!
I have done the same thing with a few items from there. It's weird. I took back a couple of spools of Suffix Advance and a Plano Edge Box earlier this year and several random things over the years. Pliers, rods, reels, and oddly a bag of their senko knock offs. As far as the Invizx goes, I have never had an issue and that is a good deal.

How often do you change your braided line and why?
Every couple of years when the line starts for fray or discolor. I don't think I have ever used line conditioner on braid. Might have to give it a try.

Disappointed in the Curado DC
I commented back in February on this topic and so far, nothing has changed. I spent the whole season beating up this reel and it has just been flawless. Yamamato Neko Macho
I picked some of these up a few days ago and blew through a whole pack in a couple of hours. I T-rigged it and fished it as many ways I could think of. It didn't matter how I fished it though, the fished inhaled it. I don't think I am ready to say it's new best thing ever but I am going to give a few more tries before things go super cold. Can't wait to try it in spring. Any body else tried these out?

Plano Edge
I have 5 of the Edge boxes now and like them. They do hold less but what they do hold, they hold well. I especially like the jig box. It's the first I have seen that actually holds them in place. The only down side to it is, certain jigs with a high arking hook don't fit well and need to be tilted, taking up two spaces or more.

Baitcaster and Spinning Reels - Diawa, Shimano, Lews, Quantum, etc...What to invest itn?
I have tried reels from Shimano, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Quantum and Lew's and so far Shimano has been the best for me, followed by Daiwa. Now that doesn't mean the other brands are not making good reels, it's just Shimano and Daiwa seem to be ahead of the game in their respected head to head reels. If you are on a budget, the Shimano SLX is great bargain but for a workhorse, the Curado K would be my choice.

Your 8:1:1 Bait Cast Reel Applications ?
I would say buzz baits and frogs but the ones I have tried just didn't suit my style of fishing.

You ever have a rod that put your hand to sleep?
I had a St. Croix Avid from about 15+ years ago and the hump on the reel seat would make my hand go numb. It has since gotten much smaller but the old version just drove me crazy.

Berkley Big Game Braid
It looks like the old Berkley Pro Braid just rebranded as Big Game. Weird. If memory serves me right, I tried the Pro Braid about 10 years ago and didn't care for it much and it didn't last very long. It seemed like a cheaper version of Fireline.

Significant Rod Upgrade Recommendations
The St. Croix Avid is a great "Best Bang For the Buck" rod. The whole series is great but for crankbaits I would go with the Legend Glass from St. Croix. Next step up from that for me is the G. Loomis IMX.

Which One?
I have this rod and it I use for all the things mentioned. It is my primary kayak rod. The only thing I would add is, that if you plan on using weightless soft plastic with this rod, I would go with the 7' M Fast instead.
