  1. If I am bank fishing and I can get to it discretely, I go for it. But if I am in a boat, I get close, cut the line and forget about it. I loose more time getting the boat in the right position and create more risk to myself and the boat by digging out a bait. Also if I think I can catch fish in that spot, why disturb it.
  2. I depends on what kind of mood I am in but..... Foo Fighters Rush Pink Floyd
  3. Being in printing for years, I can say one of the reasons they have tanked> Cost.... It cost double what it use to (10 years ago maybe) to produce a magazine. Basically advertising is the only income. That's why you may see a great new magazine on the shelf and within a few years it is filled with ads. Check out "Outside" magazine to see a magazine that has a nice balance of ads and content. It has a bunch of good info on outdoor gear, camping, hiking, and just hanging out outdoors.
  4. I still like FC but I do use Hybrid on a couple of set ups. It is great line. I find it does not last as long as FC. The abrasion resistance is good but not great. FC might be slightly more sensitive but is marginal. Like stated above it is stiff but can easily be remedy with KVD line conditioner. I have also used Ultra Soft. It seems anything less than 10lb had breaking issues.
  5. The online survey on the bottom of their receipts. The rewards were from a larger previous purchase.
  6. It's about time. Looks like a curado. If they keep it around $100, it will be a major competitor in that market.
  7. Well here was the damage...... 4 packs of 5in senkos 1 pack of 6in senkos 3 packs of Keitech swing impacts 1 pack of Keitech flash minnows 3 Mepps inline spinners 2 packs of fat ikas 1 pack of zoom lizards All told, $55.
  8. I am getting ready to resupply some of the senkos I am out of and did some math..... DSG has buy 10 lures get 30% off. So 10 bags of senkos at $7.30 each, $73 with 30% off is $51, then a $10 off coupon, and finally I have one last $10 reward. That brings them down to $3.10 a bag. Bargain.... Who says senkos are expensive.....
  9. A shimano curcial 7' MH crankbait rod. It is not to soft and to fast as to rip the bait out on a hook set.
  10. I have the Avid series version of this rod and I have it paired with a 2500 Stradic. I has for been the perfect fit.
  11. A buzz bait. It does only one thing.
  12. I went fishing in thick lily pads last weekend and used some 12lb Tatsu and it was awesome. I got stuck a few times and it did not break at all. I was amazed at how tuff this line was. I also used some 15lb Yo Zuri Hybrid. It also did well but it was no where near the line Tatsu is. With that said Tatsu is expensive and may not be worth the cost but it is the best line I have ever used. So FC and lily pads...I'd say go for it but to cut and punch that stuff, 50lb braid might be a better choice.
  13. How would you feel about catching this thing in a kayak.... https://youtu.be/v6gQbJiSGNA
  14. Nice read. Thanks for the info.
  15. Like Apple stuff, but not the iPhone. I have a Apple Laptop and iPad that I love though. I would go with the Galaxy. I have had 4 different version and never had an issue.
  16. $2.65 in Indy. A guy at the gas station I filled up at said that in a few weeks, gas prices were likely to fall again. Sure beats $4.00 a gallon.
  17. Here is a link for Boca bearings. Based on a what you payed for the reel, I am not sure if it is a wise investment. I recently changed the bearings on my Shimano Core and it helped it feel like new, sort of. The reel was 7 years old and was due for some new ones. It casts great and feels great but it was not a big step up from the stock bearings. http://www.bocabearings.com/bearing-inventory/17387/fr093cyld-pflueger-templar-lp-baitcaster
  18. I have had fish not bite on a senko or senko style bait before but sometimes nothing works. Then there are days like today. I went out for about 2 hours and caught 7 large mouth on senkos. I had a guy ask, what I was using and I showed him a bag of green pumpkin senkos. He said he had not caught anything and he had been out for about 5 hours. When I asked him what he was using, he said everything. I gave him two of the senkos I had and guess what, he still did not catch anything. When I watched him fish them, he was just too quick on the retrieve. I tried to show him how I was using the bait, by letting it fall, slow soft jerk and again letting it fall. He insisted I was fishing too slow for his taste and that it was the bait, not him and went back to using a spinnerbait because senkos where too expensive for his blood. I did see him snag and loose two of those spinnerbaits in the lily pads. I would venture a guess those spinnerbaits cost about the same as a pack of senkos. I offered the help he asked for and it did not work out for him. So l let him go and fished on. All told I caught about 12+ on senkos, fat ikas, and zoom lizards. When I left he was still fishing and he still had nothing to show for it. I would like to think I was lucky but I sometimes it just isn't your day.
  19. When I was a kid, my father and I would fish with a guy who was partially blind due to diabetes. No matter what he was using, we would set it up and cast it for him. When he used a bobber and live bait, we would use a slipper bobber so he could feel where the depth was. He would then lightly wrap his finger around the line. He then could feel the fish pull and he would set the hook. He was quite good at it. With other baits for bass, he would use them all by either sound or feel. Topwater was all by sound and at a slow speed. All soft plastic was by feel and fishing slow. He could easily feel the a lure bouncing of the bottom. He did not care for crank baits or spinner baits because someone would always be casting it for him. He was actually a really good fisherman.
  20. The Chronarch 200e would get my vote if you can find one on sale.
  21. Just curious, how could this happen?
  22. I tried and did not care for it. I do however like KVD line conditioner. It works pretty much as described.
  23. I took mine out Friday and caught a few as well. I have been using it for crank baits. When I use it, it gets abused. I have yet to have an issue with it.
  24. I am right handed and used spinning gear for years. I was casting with my right rand and cranking the handle with my left. I bought my first bait caster about 9 years ago and it was right handed. I couldn't get the hang of it. I was handed a left handed green curado and most of my problems were solved. I have been using left handed bait casters ever since. Bottomline, it just felt natural to use left handed bait casters. I would venture a guess you would have no issues.
