pats fans: stop whining and let it go
I agree it's time to move on but aren't they still celebrating in New York. Whatever, I guess, but I get to smile about it until next season. ;D

Is the most expensive line always the best line?
No way.... I have tried several lines in the past few years. For instance, last year I tried Gama Fluorocarbon. It is one of the most expensive lines out there. IMHO, it was great line but not worth the money. I since been using Berkley Trilene Fluocarbon. It has performed even better than the Gama at about 1/3 of the price. I guess it boils down to which line you try and have the most luck and confidence with.

berkley fireline
I bought two spools when it came out at about $15 a spool. It ended up costing me about $50 in crankbaits. I'll never use it again. One of the worst lines I have ever used. I have since switched to using PowerPro and/or Suffix.

Coffee tubes Mtyh or fact?
Imagine that, after saying what he did, he sold out........................... Dock talk. Sorry, I should noted that he said this after he had sold out of his on store stock. Personally, I some of the old Bleeding Tubes and other than the coffee sent I can hardly tell the differance in a few colors. I still need to fish them first before I say how good they are. In the tackle shop owners case, I think he really did have a good but he could have had a good day on just about any other bait.

Coffee tubes Mtyh or fact?
I have a few packs but have not used them yet. The local tackle shop I go to here in Indiana sold out of them they day after. The owner went to lake Shelbyville in Illinios and killed on this bait. He said it was some of the best fishing he had done in years.

First time buying sunglasses
A buddy of mine buys 8 pack tubes of polarized protective sunglasses from Sam's Club and sometimes Granger. I think they cost him around $20-$30 a pack. He loses them all the time plus he gives them to employess who work out side cutting grass. I thought they would be cheap but they are actually pretty well made for a $3-$4 pair of sunglasses.

Fishing Strategies/Goals for 08 season?
My goals for 2008 1. Tube fishing: Not my favorite technique but I want to go back relearn it. 2. Catch more smallmouth 3. Catch more bass on topwater frogs. I caught a few last year but not many. 4. Try some new lakes/ponds.

Correct amount of line on reels
I leave about 1/8in lip on a spinning reel and about 1/16th on a baitcaster.
-
What kind of reel is this??
I would take it off the rod and look at the bottom of the reel mount to see if it has a name or number stamped on it. But it does remind me of an Okuma as well but I have not seen them in a store in a few years.

what size sammy does everyone use?
The 100s are all I use. Sammy has to be my favorite topwater bait.

Line Blowout at Walmart
They have most likely already sold everything. Not really. I spoke to one of the old timers that worked the fishing department and he said nothing had been marked down. I had him scan a few items that had been mentioned in another thread and they were all regular price. The WalMart close to me sells some fishing stuff but not alot. For instance, some of the Rapalas on the shelf have the old style boxes and have a sticker on them that says new. Some of them have the old green WalMart price tags on them with the price marked out and a higher price marked on the hanger. I don't doubt anybody here. They just haven't marked anything down yet. I will keep trying.

Xcaliber Jimmy
I have a few Sammy's and Jimmy's. Bottom line, I like the Sammy the best. It just catches more fish. The actions of the baits are almost the same but the Sammy is easier to walk the dog with. The Sammy has good side to side action and the Jimmy does as well but it tends to bob more. My favorite has to be the Sammy in Aurora Black. The top one is the Sammy and the bottom is the Jimmy.

Megabass Pop Max?
These things may become addictive. The detail just blows me away. I have come to the conclusion that these things catch more fisherman than fish. But, WOW. They are just to cool. That bait monkey is going to kill me.

Line Blowout at Walmart
I stopped by WalMart to get bread and milk and I looked at their fishing stuff. Still no stuff on clearance by me. I'll keep trying.

Lipless cranking
I use a MBR 844C IMX (7' Heavy, Fast Action).

G. Loomis rods...worth the $ ???
I would have to say the IMX line is the best bang for the buck from Loomis. I have a couple of GLX's, they are a funner rod and more sensitive but the extra cost is a luxury. This is not to say they are not worth the money. The cost and fun factor is up to the owner. If I had the money, I would go for the GLX without hesitation.

Has anyone used the Trilene 100% Fuoro?
I spooled up one my Stradics today with 8lb. I didn't catch anything but it cast as well as any line of have tried on a spinning reel. Great stuff.
-
cheap crankbaits
I'd go with, in order, Rapala DT's, Bomber Model A, and Norman Lures. Just remember sometimes you can find a good deal on a good bait and if it doesn't catch fish no matter if the lure is $2 or $15, it aint worth it.

Skippin Rod?
I have been using a 6' Fast ML St. Avid for skipping around docks and tight places. It has just enough power to pull out some nice fish and it's light enough to create some quick wipping action with low or tight casts.

I'm ticked at Shimano
The tackle shop I stopped at today had a few t-shirts and a couple of nice jackets that they were giving away with a Shimano reel purchase. I don't get it.
-
Bass Pro Shops Rods
One of the guys I work with was and sort of still is a semi pro tournament fisherman. The Tourney series is all he uses. He could buy more expensive rods but that's what the likes. He also has a big back stock of old green Curado to go with them.

Megabass Pop Max?
The Pop Max is big 1/2oz popper and I think the Pop X is just a smaller version. I promised the tackle shop that I would not mention their name because a pricing issue but I got it for $15. They had all sorts of colors. I picked up a M Hasu.
