  1. Tackle Warehouse has been pretty good for me so far.
  2. I don't drink as much as I use to but here are my favorites 1. Sterlings Cabernet 2003 2. Robert Mondavi Reserve Merlot 2005 3. 2005 Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay Here are a few of my local favorites from here in Indiana Oliver Winery's Soft Red (very sweet) and their Merlot 2004 Butler Vineyard Chambourcin and the Indiana Red (great basic table wine)
  3. How about a G. Loomis MBR843 or 844 IMX and a Daiwa Zillion. That should put you just around $500.
  4. Wow, what a great deal. Enjoy the rod. What are you going to do with the Sahara?
  5. I have 6 Shimano reels and have had zero issues but they can't make them perfect everytime, nobody can. Which reels did you have issues with? I talked to guy at BPS back in Feburary when I had an issue with a Quantum Tournament Edition Pt baitcasting reel and he explained that some of the reels they get in new seem like they have been returned and reboxed. He had no explanation why but it opened my eyes to the fact that it is a good idea to look over a reel before you buy.
  6. For most of my soft plastic, including tubes and grubs, I use a Shimano Calcutta 251 and a Loomis BSR803 GLX with 14lb Gamma.
  7. http://bassresource.com/fishing/deep_water_jig_fishing.html You might check out this article and if you look at the bottom of the page there are several others that might give some ideas. If I had to pick a jig to start out with, I like Booyah jigs.
  8. It was on Tuesday, I think, at 4:00pm on the Sportsman Channel.
  9. You said it. Are they worth the money? Yes............. but I would not have said that if I had not fished one and later purchased a couple. Is there a extra price for thier name? Maybe....... I have Loomis hat my wife got me for my birthday. She paid $20 for it. I have a Berkley hat that is exactly the same hat with a Berkley logo instead of a Loomis logo. I paid $9 for it. In anycase, I love thier rods and after fishing several others they have become my favorite.
  10. Has anybody watched the Fishing Texas Show? I got a chance to watch it today for the first time and I really enjoyed it. These guys were not as goofy as some and seemed very knowledgeable.
  11. The first one . I can't imagine a second.
  12. Great setup. I have two similar setups. I've got two of the same reel and a St.Croix Avid 6'6'' MH and a 6' ML. The ML setup is one of my favorites. I use it for Mepps inline spinner baits, weightless soft plastic, like the 4in senko and small grubs, and light weight hard baits. The reel is fantastic for soft plastic. I have had great luck with all different kinds of line with this setup, including 20lb Powerpro, 6lb Yozuri (regular and ultra soft), and 6lb P-Line Floroclear. Enjoy.
  13. This rod has my attention but I want to here how it performs. Hype and color and whatever else they think of is worthless, unless the rod can be sensitive and pull out some big fish.
  14. Sorry. I have fished a Fenwick HMG and it's a nice rod but it is not even close to a Loomis GLX or IMX. I would compare it to a St.Croix Avid (which is also a fine rod). Enjoy what you fish.
  15. I was going to suggest this setup but RW got to it before I did. Before they clearanced this setup, it would have cost you around $300. so at $150 it's a steal. The St. Croix Avid AS68MXF is great for worms, small jigs and the Fat Ika. The Stradic 2500 is a solid reel, smooth but not supper smooth, strong when needed, and it cast well. This reel also balance well with AS68MXF. They only downside to the Stradic was that I had to remove two washers to keep it from backlashing when I used soft plastic.
  16. I also like using zoom finesse worm and a robo worm.
  17. I found a real good deal at Dicks a few weeks ago on a Shimano Stradic 2500 for $75 and a St.Croix Avid AS68MXF for $75. After I used a few coupons this combo came at $135+tax. This set up has been fantastic for soft plastic.
  18. They are great jigs. I would not give up on them at all. I would look around to see if you can find them cheaper, $4 seems high. I usually can pick them up for around $2.50.
  19. 5in Senko Watermelon/Green Pumpkin Laminate with a 4/0 EWG hook.
  20. I have been using a BPS Extreme worm bag. It has been a life saver. In the front side I keep all my worm baits and in the back I have lizards, creatures, beavers, and Ikas. I arrange them by length and color and I also keep them in the origanal bags.

God has a funny sense of humor and I don't think he's done laughing at OJ Simpson.
  22. As stated above. I think they both have their place and can be used as needed. Overall, I would say I use fluorocarbon more so than mono but I prefer copolomyer lines above anything else.
  23. Out of the water, the largest fish I have caught is a 45lb Blue Catfish. In the water and next to the boat, 70-80lb paddlefish. The wierdest fish I have ever seen. I thought I caught a shark ;D, at least that was what the beer was telling me. It looked as big as the john boat I was in. I cut the line as soon as my buddy and I got a good look at it.
  24. I tried this stuff back in March and had nothing bad luck. I purchased two spools and both kept kinking and breaking. It might have been the cold water, I'm not sure. I went through both spools in less than two weeks.
  25. I saw this picture and could not believe it. Here is the article that went with it as well. On June 5, Adam Konrad of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, landed a pending International Game Fish Association (IGFA) all-tackle world record rainbow trout that tipped the scales at a hefty 43.6 pounds. Konrad, 26, who was fishing with his identical twin brother, Sean, caught the monster in Lake Diefenbaker in southern Saskatchewan using a 4-inch Mepps Syclops while fishing from the shore. He was using six-pound-test line.
