  1. In the Yum Line I like Junebug and Smoke Pearl Laminate In the GYCB I like 021 Black with Blue Flake and 927 Smoke Pearl Blue Laminate and 297 Green Pumpkin black flake and, and, and, and,,,,,,,,,,,,,, In the Zoom line I like Watermelon Red
  2. I have a Johnny Morris 7' M casting rod and have found it to be a good rod for the money. Is it as good as a St. Croix Avid or any G.loomis rod? No way. But for the money and at it's price point, I find it hard to beat. It has a great reel seat and guides but the sensitivity is just on par with rods at the same price.
  3. I have used both PowerPro and Suffix in 20, 30 and 50lb . The 20lb diameter PowerPro kept binding into the spool on one spinning reels so I tried the 20lb Suffix and had no problems. I later tried 30 and 50lb PowerPro again on two different baitcasters and two different spinning reels and was very impressed. It casted well, had good knot strength, and I caught lots of fish with it. Later on last year I purchased to some more Suffix just because I liked the 20lb so well. After fishing with them for almost 4 months I came to the conclusion that, I like the PowerPro better (at these line weights). It is not to say that the Suffix was bad line, the PowerPro was just better. Bottom line, I caught more fish with the PowerPro and it casted better, especially on a baitcaster. One other thing about Suffix and PowerPro, the Suffix might have a slight edge in durability. I will continue to use and purchase the 20lb Suffix.
  4. If I end up getting the 7.1:1 Zillion, I'll probably use it for top water buzzbaits, spinning baits and frogs. When I think of a moderate crank bait rod, I'm thinking of a slower reel to go with it, like the Curado 200DPV with a 5:1 ratio. If your going to just fish lipless cranks, you'll probably be OK. But if it were me and that was my intention, I would go with the 6.3:1 Zillion instead just because it maybe more versatile.
  5. The DT's are great baits. The Silver DT6 is my favorite. I tend to loose more of the DT's than any other bait. I am not sure why but I do get them snagged more than any other crank in my tackle box. But that won't stop me from using them, they are a flat out great bass catcher.
  6. P-Line Floroclear is my favorite, 6, 8 or 10lb depending on the application.
  7. GYCB for soft plastic (use to be Zoom) Lucky Craft and Rapala for hard baits (each are tools that do different things)
  8. I have tried a couple of spools of fireline and at first, thought it was going to be new favorite line of choice. But after just a couple of days of fishing, it just was wore out. I have since stayed with PowerPro and Suffix for braid.
  9. I think they are modified as well but what would these pro's change on these reels? Just a question to everyone, if you could get a custom/modified made reel what would you ask for? What parts or enigineering design would you change to fit your fishing style?
  10. I have been pondering a high speed set up and the Zillion is one of the reels I have been looking at. I too like the choice of the MBR844C IMX or maybe the MBR843C. I would be interested to know how the reel and your rod choice work out together, so keep us posted.
  11. I have a Plano 777. I need to get another tackle box though. The 777 is good but I think a soft case with a lot of boxes would be be a better fit.
  12. I got to go with any topwater bait; buzzbait, Sammy, Spook or some type of torpedo bait. There is nothing like seeing a big bass jumping out of the water to eat a topwater bait.
  13. I like the Yo-zuri version.
  14. I picked up a couple of bags and wow they stink. I thought Gamblers were strong. I am looking forward to fishing them. I hope the fish like garlic. Thanks for all the replies and if anybody has any more info please feel free to share.
  15. I've been skunked on perfect days when you think the fish are ready to be supper aggressive and caught lots of fish on days when it's windy, cold and rainy. I guess it is all part of fishing. For me at least, as long as I am outside and not chained to my computer at work, I'm happy.
  16. Has anybody tried Chompers Soft Plastic Baits? Good, bad, or have a favorite? Thanks for any info.
  17. After reading DodgeGuy's post, I have to agree the Johnny Morris Rod is a bit "mushy". It seems to be more of a moderate rod for crank baits but I have used it with some weighted T-Rigged worms and have done well. In any case, it is a good rod for the money ($119 when I found it on sale).
  18. 1. Pointer 100sp American Shad 2. Flat CB MR CHARTREUSE SHAD 3. Combat CB Ghost Minnow 1-2 version 4. Sammy 100 Aurora Black I have more favorites but these have to be my top 4.
  19. Deuceu72, I tried the carbonpro in either 12lb or 15lb, I can't remember. One other weird thing about it was that at first it was very stretchy. I remember getting snagged and the line stretched about 5-10 feet. After fishing this stuff for about four days, I replaced. It cost me about $50 worth of lures. I might try it again since has been recommended by so many people. Have you tried the Invizx line yet? If so, any good?
  20. St. Croix Premier or if you can catch it on sale a BPS Johnny Morris 6'6'' MH.
  21. I have tried both Seagur and P-Line. So far I like P-Line the best. The Seagur I tried had the most memory out of any line I have ever used, was very brittle and broke easily after it go wet. I might I have gotten a bad spool because everyone else I have talked to holds Seagur line in high regards.
  22. Color 297 Senko for me and maybe a Lucky Craft Flat CB in Chartruse Chad.
  23. Zoom lizards or yum lizards. My favorites are watermelon red and june bug. I have tried the Zoom U tail worms, good but not as good as lizards.
  24. I made a trip to a BPS store in November and they were marking everything up then. For instance, I bought a Johnny Morris Rod for $119 but the if I didn't have my current catalog with me the price had gone up to $159. Stuff like this makes me want to wait for sales, stock up and not return for quite some time.
