  1. The original Zara Spook and the Lucky Craft Sammy 100 are my favorite
  2. I spooled my curado and sustain last month with 10lb evolution and I really like this stuff. On my curado it casts a mile and it is super tough, kind of reminds me of Big Game. On the sustain, it is good but I like floroclear better. It seems to just fall off the spool and it is not quite as limp as floroclear but it casts well and once it gets wet it seems to have hardly any memory.
  3. I'd go for either the Curado or Zillion. The Curado 100 may cast lighter lures a little better than Zillion but,in my opinion, the Zillion just feels better.
  4. I purchased a Loomis SMR753S-SP last year and like it so far. It's great for deep open water. Has anybody tried the casting rods in the Bronzeback line? Good, bad and how do they compare to the IMX line of rods. Thanks for any info.
  5. I sort of doctor/correct photos for a living. There are three possibilities 1)This female small mouth has a lot of eggs 2) She has a serious case of bloat or 3)An extreme case of the Photoshop Bloat tool. ;D For the record, I downloaded this photo and it was named3818_resized . But after I took a good look at it, I don't think it has been altered. Looks like a nice catch.
  6. I never used fish attractants to put on my lures. I sort look at them as overkill but when things are slow I guess a little help would be nice. I fish a lot of soft plastic. You could look at them and say they are loaded with fish attractants. So I guess I have been using them for years .
  7. BPS Extreme 370 looks like a good value with a little room to grow.
  8. I have a G.Loomis BCR803 with the recoil guides. They look cheap and odd but they work fine for me. It seems they might make the rod just a little bit more sensitive but on the down side I don't like using braid with this rod because of the recoil guides. They kind of make a wining sound with braid. This topic has been brought up before with lots of good info. You might check out this site's search feature.
  9. If you're setting it for worms, check out the GLX BCR803. It's the most sensitive rod I have ever fished. It is a true work of art but not made for braided line. No matter what you choose, try to put the whole thing together and get a feel for the rod and the reel as a complete system. One more piece of advice, give this post a chance to grow. I am sure their will be several suggestions and load of info to come.

I had a bad LC Pointer 100SP in shell white and returned it to BPS. I had the lure about 6 months and only fished it a couple of times but the finish started to come off after the first cast. The salesmen at BPS said he wanted me to be satisfied and exchanged it eventhough I had purchased the lure so long ago. Their return policy seems to be "the customer must be happy" . This to me, is great service.
  11. I am a big fan of Shimano but I was looking for a high speed reel and the Zillion fit the bill. I paired it with a Loomis IMX MBR844C. I tried it out today for the first time and was impressed with both. The Zillion felt smooth and yet it was like percision instrument. Unlike the Chronarch, it felt light weight in my hand and was comfortable to palm. Casting was good but not fantastic. The reel excels with anything 3/8 oz or heavier. As far as the rod goes, it was a perfect match for the reel. Even though I only caught two small bass and an average sized crapie, I could tell this rod is an excellent general purpose bass rod. I have a GLX MBR783C and it is more sensitive. I almost wish I would have purchased the GLX MBR844C but the IMX is a fine rod. It does load differently than any other rod I have used. It is stiffer and it will take some time to get used to. From a first time use perspective, I would say go with the Zillion but if you want to spend a couple extra bucks I would get a Shimano Calais. This of course is just my personal opinion. Good luck and happy fishing.
  12. You might try to determine your fishing needs and go from their. If you fish, heavy cover then maybe some 20-30lb braid (Sufix or PowerPro). Or you could try my favorite P-Line Floroclear 10lb or P-Line Evolution both are similar to Yo-Zuri. They will work for just about anything.
  13. Sunscreen is the only hope. I have seen other fisherman rub that self tanning stuff around their eyes but I would not recommend it. PS Good look Avid. Don't forget to duck.
  14. For $140 the BPS Extreme and the Stradic are an awesome set up and a great value. Welcome to the world of Shimano.
  15. When ever I get a bump and run on either a spinner or crank bait, I always go to the Senko. I fish it T-rigged and slow.

I have heard of roboworms but I have never seen them until today. They looked like a great finesse type worm. They were soft and seemed like they would float. What's your opinion on these baits? Thanks again for any info.

    I like the Chrome/Blue from X-Calibur.
  18. What's your favorite jig trailer? Just curious as to what everyone uses. For me personally, I like the Zoom Chunks.
  19. I have an Avid AS60MLF and I use it for all my light weight/finesse fishing. I fish a lot of 1/8 oz. spinner baits. So far this rod has been a lot of fun. I have caught several crapie and bass. I thought the length of the rod might be to short but it has been perfect for casting accuracy and tight places.
  20. Great info. It's nice to hear about an American product in a line that is dominated by items from over seas.
  21. I have the G. Loomis BCR 803 and words can't describe how much fun this thing is to fish. I say go for the BCR803 ;D.
  22. Shimano Calais 201A and a G.Loomis MBR783C GLX.
  23. I purchased a St. Croix Avid 6' ML last year for finesse fishing. So far it has been a very good rod. I was not sure if I would like the short length but this rod has served it's purpose well.
  24. About three weeks ago I went to BPS and looked at a Steez baitcaster. It was amazing to say the least but at nearly $500 with tax, I purchased the last 100SHLA Zillion instead. At the time they had a huge supply of Steez reels. Well, I went back today with an old reel to trade in for a discount on a new Steez and it was the only reel they were sold out of. I guess, (according to the salesman), about 30+ other people had the same idea I did this Sunday. They were fully stocked as of Friday but with the sale even the displays were gone. Will people spend the cash on reel like this? After what I saw today> ABSOLUTELY!!!! They just have to wait for them to go on sale.
