Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
That's valuable info! Was the warranty a major consideration in your purchase decision? While I understand that the GLomis warranty even allows you to replace a rod that was broken accidentally (against a fee of course), the Daiwa warranty leaves you hanging and would require you to buy a brand new rod. Given that I do the majority of my fishing from the bank, this is a bit of worry of mine. While I take my NRX 852c often with me, my 7'9XH Steez AGS stays home, because I am too afraid that I might hang up the AGS guides or otherwise damage the rod and then have to buy one at full price again. Cheers mate!

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
Thanks a lot Chief! Going through all of the info on the web, the NRX 894c seems to be still a bit more sensitive than the Steez but gets beaten by the Steez when it comes to better balance and being a better all around rod. Since I am actually just looking for a dedicated 1/2 (+trailer) Jig rod and also a bit turned off by Daiwa's limited warranty, I think I will go with the 894c. Question now is: wait for the new NRX to come out or not

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
Hi there! I am torn between the 894c and the Steez Bottom Contact as well. How has your opinion evolved over the last couple of weeks of fishing the Steez? Thanks.

Daiwa sv103
I have two of the 2019 Morethans in 8.6 gear ratio.

Daiwa sv103
I would agree with that statement on the 19 Morethan. One just needs to put in a SV spool! From my memory of my SV103s I feel that the Morethan with an SV spool shows fairly similar characteristics. Super sturdy (under load), refined and with the ability to cast a wide spectrum of lures.

Antares DC MD XG is here.
Lol. Was thinking the same! I run 50 pound braid on mine and it is still more than 100yqrds.

What is the best line to use with a top water hard bait?
Use a heavier Mono. It floats, has some stretch (good for treble hook baits) and it has a much lower risk in catching the front hooks of the lure. It is also more stealthy when you are using a top water bait that you want to rest every now and then (like a popper). I also use Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo . Not cheap but good line.

Coastal sv tw 150
I have the Elite, 2020 Tatula SV TW, Coastal SV TW as well as the ELite P/F. Out of all I think the Coastal SV TW is the most versatile one. I can throw light lures on it as well as heavier ones, it has great line capacity, is super smooth and looks cool as well. For 175$ shipped it is a steal and I would get it. The Elite is a great all - around reel. It handles a good spectrum of lures, gets a bit finicky in windy situations for me. That is where the Tatula SV is more solid. It does not cast as well, but covers the spectrum with greater 'backlash' protection. The P/F (basically the Elite with a different handle and spool) is a solid pitcher. I tried it yesterday at a local pond with some 79# test braid. I dont see any noticeable difference in pitching performance to other reels to be honest, but I like the new knobs. Overall I would say that the new Elite platform is a win. I still prefer my Steezs' a bit, but they are not worth twice the price imo.

Why is Fishing not listed as allowed?
In Marin county, the lakes themselves are not closed, but the parks are. So you can get your bike and ride to the lake and all is good. But parking at the lake or near it is a big no no. Today, I did not get a warning ticket. go figure..

Tatula SVTWS vs SS SV103
Plus you get a Free Hug Performance hoody with any Tatula reel (worth like 50 USD, one has to pay for shipping though). So, makes it a pretty good deal right now imo.

That's what I am planning to do! Just got some 'warning tickets' for parking somewhat close to the lake...

Why is Fishing not listed as allowed?
Hi guys, just checking the new restrictions for outdoor activities in CA. Fishing is not included here, when some other activities are, that imo are much more 'risky' in my opinion. Anybody has any background info on why fishing is not included here? https://covid19.ca.gov/stay-home-except-for-essential-needs/#outdoor Athletics Badminton (singles) Throwing a baseball/softball BMX biking Canoeing (singles) Crabbing Cycling Exploring Rock Pools Gardening (not in groups) Golf (singles, walking – no cart) Hiking (trails/ paths allowing distancing) Horse Riding (singles) Jogging and running Kite Boarding and Kitesurfing Meditation Outdoor Photography Picnics (with your stay-home household members only) Quad Biking Rock Climbing Roller Skating and Roller Blading Rowing (singles) Scootering (not in groups) Skateboarding (not in groups) Soft Martial Arts – Tai Chi, Chi Kung (not in groups) Table Tennis (singles) Throwing a football, kicking a soccer ball (not in groups) Trail Running Trampolining Tree Climbing Volleyball (singles) Walk the dog Wash the car Watch the sunrise or sunset Yoga

Dedicated 1/2 oz Jig rod. Dobyns Xtasy
Just got my 755c out of the tube. Definitely feels a bit more powerful, so if one threw mostly 3/8oz lures, I would also go for the 754c. If one throws 3/8oz - 1/2oz + trailer and especially in cover, get the 755c!

Dobyns 908 swimbait rod info
Hi there. I use my 908 for bass fishing exclusively so far. It is a very powerful rod. I am not exactly sure what the top limit is, since my biggest lure maxes out at 13oz. But I think one can throw up to 15oz comfortably. Above that I don't have any experience. The tip I would describe as Medium-fast. It has a bit of tip that allows to throw lighter lures but it goes very quickly into the backbone. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers.

Ordered from SO on March 28th - no rod, no tracking Ordered from Dobyns directly April 1st - no rod, no tracking. While people that have ordered after me or live in greater distance to Texas have already received their order. Not fair! https://giphy.com/gifs/latenightseth-seth-meyers-lnsm-9uITZ8f9Q12dYhQGGl

If you bought from Dobyns directly, I dont think you will get one. I ordered from them yesterday and they told me that they are not set up for that. Ordered from SO as well on Saturday and havent not heard back from them yet. Per email they told me that my rod was about to ship. Whatever that means.

Daiwa Tatula XT 7'4" H frog casting rod vs Okuma TCS 7'3" H casting rod
I have the Ocuma as well. Great all- around rod. Actually pretty great sensitivity! In my hands it is as sensitive as the much more expensive St Croix Legend Elite 7'4H. So, it makes a great 1/2oz Jig rod, Chatterbait, Swimbait and Trebble hook top water rod. I had originally bought it as a frog rod. But as already said, I dont think it is powerful enough for frogging in cover, where one needs to pull the fish out.

Dedicated 1/2 oz Jig rod. Dobyns Xtasy
Interesting! Could you please explain the reasoning for that move? What are you planning to throw on the 754C? I would have thought that the 904 would compare more to the 755c?!

Dedicated 1/2 oz Jig rod. Dobyns Xtasy
How would you compare the 755 in terms of sensitivity, action of the tip to the Conquest and NRX? Would you get the 755 again or would you pic a comparable version of another rod line? Thanks again.

Dedicated 1/2 oz Jig rod. Dobyns Xtasy
HI guys, thinking of adding the 754 or the 755 to the arsenal with the crazy deals that are going on right now. I currently have a ZBONE 7'6 MH (1/4-1oz) and a Steez AGS 7'9XH that I use for my bottom contact techniques. The ZBONE I use mainly for worming and smaller (up to 3/8oz) Texas rigged plastics while the Steez is used for the heavier (3/4oz -1.5oz) Jigs and pegged plastics. So, I am looking for something in between. A dedicated jig rod for 1/2oz Jigs that I would use mostly in open water (with some medium cover pitching every now and there, for the heavy stuff I would use the AGS). So, wondering which of the two (754 / 755) would fit my needs best. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers, Seb.
