  1. Now that I think about it, on my first day with the 13 Concept A (1st gen), it cast further than any reel I have ever used. Unfortunately I got a backlash in the middle of a long cast, the lure broke off, and the reel made a grinding noise from there on out and was never the same. But for that 1 hour, it was absolutely throwing moonshot
  2. For pure distance the AntaresDC/Excense DC will be best but you are looking at 500-550 even in the JDM market. Among what I have used I would go metanium or curado DC. I have a chronarch and for me they cast further.
  3. I'd get a Dobyn's 703C in the maverick or fury lines. I have the fury 703C and it is very good for small trebles-the action is more of a medium, moderate fast. It works great for 1/4 ounce spinnerbaits too.
  4. Is the water pretty dirty?
  5. Anyone ever been here? Is this fishing as good as I have read, particularly from shore?
  6. Yea in my experience some of the FL ponds may look promising, but are not actually stocked with bass for some reason.
  7. Tried it out and unfortunately the ponds are a few feet below where they should be in water level. Didn't see anything but tilapia in there so I'm not sure there are even any bass in there at all-I'd guess not given that I had no strikes.
  8. Some golf course ponds allow fishing, but maybe not in FL. When I've fished GC ponds there were usually others fishing there too.
  9. Does anyone know of any good golf course ponds in the tampa Bay Area where fishing is allowed? Looking for some good golf course ponds to fish.
  10. Take a serious look at the new Diawa Legalis LT. It's the same reel as the Fuego, but without the Magseal (not needed for freshwater IMO). I've caught hundreds of bass and trout with the older version of that reel, and the Drag was great. I Just got the newer one a couple weeks ago and it is even better. The reel is only 70 bucks at TW, and I got mine from ebay for under 60 shipped. Then you would have a lot of money left over for a rod. I've always used the Dobyns sierra 692 with the legalis, and the rod is great for ned rigs. That set up would be $240 plus tax on TW. You could also get the Curado Rod (basically the same as the old zodias), and the total setup would be $230 plus tax.
  11. I have the 18 Bantam and like it for frogs. The most common complaint is that the line guide is too close to the spool which hinders casting distance, but I feel like it casts well enough personally. On the 22 Bantam, the line guide is farther from the spool, like on the Metanium. People on tackletour have said it casts similarly to the 20 Metanium because of this change.
  12. looks like a curado dc 200, SLX rod redo, and some saltwater stuff
  13. What rod do you have the Aldebaren BFS on? I rally like the reel seat
  14. I was able to find the rods in a local store, and felt that the medium was not powerful enough, and the MH was too stiff. I ended up getting a different rod, a TFO Pro-S medium, which was basically inbetween the M and MH Aird X. I'm glad I was able to handle the rods in a store. It can be very hard to make a decision without handling the product.
  15. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Aird_X_Spinning_Rods/descpage-DAXS.html This is what I meant. I spelled it wrong though, good catch
  16. I am planning to get one of these for targeting snook from the jetty, to pair with a diawa 3000 sized reel., probably the legalis. I've heard these are more moderate than expected and to potentially step up in power. Should I get a medium or a medium heavy? I will mostly be throwing little paddletails on jigheads(up to 1/4) or small belly weighted hooks on this setup. I am leaning towards the medium heavy at the moment. Does anyone have any thoughts?
  17. Thanks! I saw the ML recommended somewhere but I cant get behind the idea of it for saltwater fishing. The 76 may be too long, but it sounds like the medium power will be a good fit. I'd imagine. most of the fish would be in the 15-25ish inch range.
  18. I want to get a spinning rod for inshore to pair with my Stradic 3000, and I am torn between the E6X inshore 842S MF and the 843S MF. I understand these rods are more moderate than the freshwater counterparts, which I like for the added Versatility. The 842 is listed as a medium light, and the 843 as a medium. Typically I would think of an 842 as a medium, and 843 as a medium heavy, so I am not sure what I want here. I want to target snook, redfish, sea trout and maybe jacks in the gulf coast of Florida. Does anyone have experience with these e6x inshore models? I know the regular E6x was seen as kind of overpriced by some, but I have heard great reviews about this saltwater line.
  19. It's ideal when there is some chop on the water and it is a bit overcast. Worst conditions are in crystal clear water in the middle of a sunny day. But it will work anywhere during the prime time windows around sunrise and sunset.
  20. Thanks. What do u use for them?
  21. Thanks. What about saltwater stuff?
  22. I will be moving to Saint Pete and among other things, am looking forward to being able to fish year round. I am mostly interested in the possibility of fishing the bay for snook and redfish from a kayak, posibilly jack too. Is this possible? What about fishing from the surf with lures? For largemouth, what are the best areas? While I am interested in exploring saltwater I want to continue with freshwater too.
  23. Are you limited to one rod? Personally I would get a MH/F if you mostly use texas rigs. If you want to crank well I would recommend getting another rod, for reaction a cheaper rod will do IMO as liong as the action is right
