  1. IMO a dobyns 703 in the fury or colt lines is a great all around rod for trebles up to 1/2 ounce. No experience with the 705cb. In the shimano line, the 7'0'' Medium glass rod in the SLX or intenza lines will be great.
  2. I had the rod but sold it. It is too soft for my liking for any kind of bottom contact. It feels like a much less powerful rod compared to a Dobyns 2 power. IMO it is best suited to small treble hook lures, like inline spinners, small poppers, maybe even spypaits
  3. The new version or the old gen 1 version? How do you like it?
  4. Isn't the patriot discontinued now?
  5. I have the mojo spinnerbait rod and really like it. A lot of the other SC rods I have held do seem tip heavy though
  6. Maybe dobyns colt 702? I haven't used it but have been using a sierra 692 for the last year and a half, and I quite like it for ned rigs and trout fishing.
  7. The old Metanium MGL, Bantam MGL, and Scorpion MGL use the 84mm handle on the 6 and 7 speed models, with the 8 speed having at least a 90mm handle on each reel. I dislike the smaller handle on my scorpion, but all my other handles of at least 90mm seem fine to me. Aftermarket handles get expensive (often $100ish) and are not worth it to me unless I truly hate the existing handle. You could swap to a bigger shimano 96mm handle for $40. https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=898_792_795&products_id=11103
  8. Dobyns 734 is a heavy MH, IMO. My champion 734 is more robust than say, my Expride 72MH.
  9. I don't think they will increase the price beyond the conquest. Any idea when they will come out?
  10. Maybe I need to revisit the senko as well. I only ever throw it in the spawn anymore.
  11. I will get one of the ever come out with an XG version. I don't like 7 speed reels
  12. They JDM scorpion MGL is exactly this.
  13. I have no comment on which NRX model you should get, but how do you compare the 893 to that 73MH Adrena?
  14. Do you weight all your fish? A more interesting game is definitely to keep track of the weight of your bag, as you say.
  15. on the lighter end not that well below 3/8. If you want to throw 1/4 regularly I would get a tatula SV.
  16. I handled one in the store and was quite impressed. It is the best looking rod in the Shimano lineup IMO. On build quality it is definitely a step up from the SLX
  17. Curado K can be had for less on ebay. Very smooth, reliable workhorse reel.
  18. Mono because it is stretchy and because it floats Also cheap
  19. I've never used a SC Fast but to me it certainly feels moderate fast. I have not tried to go that low, the 3/8 spinnerbaits and chatterbaits I mostly throw are 1/2-2/3 ounce total weight, I'd say. I'd imagine you could throw 1/4 with the right reel (think Tatula SV). You might also look at a dobyns 703C. That rod is very similar in action, but a touch lighter in power overall, so it could handle lighter weights a bit better. It might feel a bit overloaded with a chatterbait though
  20. I like MHMF Favorite Models: TCS69APC SC Mojo SC3 Spinnerbait Rod I'd say they feel more like Mediums to me, honestly.
