KVD Flat Side Crank vs. Yo-Zuri Flat Side Crank
Actually these have a large coffin like bill and are supposed to dive 6 - 8ft.

KVD Flat Side Crank vs. Yo-Zuri Flat Side Crank
Okay, which of these two would you get and why? I would like a cold water crank heading into the Fall bite. The KVD's are $5.79 each at TW while the Yo-Zuri's are on clearance for $4 each at Sierra Trading Post. I have enough baits that I know you can't go by price alone (well, unless it's an insane deal) when comparing brands so i would like input from people who have actual hands on experience with one or both baits.

Yo-Zuri 3DB Medium Diving Cranks
Which is better, round bodied/billed vs. flat bodied/coffin billed?

Favorite Fall Jerkbait Action/Colors
I am new to jerk bait fishing too but from what everyone has told me you need to try a variation to see what the fish want. Start out with twitch, twitch, twitch...pause...twitch, twitch...pause...twitch...pause and repeat until you find that magic cadence that the bass seem to want that day. As for colors the age old adage of light, dark and forage seems to work best but you could also add in a chartreuse for stained/muddy water. You must be insanely lucky to win that whole lot of Vision 110's...WOW!!!

Yo-Zuri 3DB Medium Diving Cranks
Anybody else want to chime in?

Yo-Zuri 3DB Medium Diving Cranks
Do you find they dive the 6 - 8ft. as advertised?
-
Yo-Zuri 3DB Medium Diving Cranks
Does anybody use these? They look decent and they say they dive down to 6 - 8ft. which is the spot I'm looking for as i have the shallow divers 3 - 5ft. and the wake/super shallow divers at 0 - 1ft. They are on sale at Sierra Trading Post for $4 each.

Jackall Mudsucker 110
Does anybody have any experience with this lure? It seems similar to a Lucky Craft Gunfish. I just saw some at Sierra Trading Post and they normally list for $14.99 but STP was selling them for $7.99. Normally i would have just scooped 2 or 3 up but was with the wife who already thinks i have too many lures...lol.

Savage Gear Duck and Rat
I have 2 of the ducks in black and wood duck coloration. I've tried them out a couple of times each but they didn't get bit. I haven't completely given up on them and maybe they will be a better Spring bait as that is when baby ducks normally hatch but they have definitely fallen out of my rotation for now. As for a rat bait, I would definitely go with the Spro BBZ-1...that does get bit!!!

The latest sale thread
I went to their site and the lowest price on the 130's is $12.88 and Terminator was no longer showing. Some of the 90's are $9.88 but again extremely limited selection.

When Color Matters?
To me color really only matters for submerged baits. Topwater baits not so much as the fish are generally only looking at the belly of the bait from below the water's surface. I would think anything like crank baits, jerk baits or senko/craw baits where the fish gets a good look at the entire bait color would matter more but then again sometimes it's just instinct and the fish would bite anything that comes near it's mouth whether it looks like a baitfish or is bright pink with purple polka-dots.

The latest sale thread
The only one that's on sale is the Keitech Noisy Flapper (the frog style bait) but not the Swing Impact Fat's.

Who fishes from a boat vs. fishes from shore? - How does it affect what tackle you use?
I do about a 60/40 split (when my boat is running that is) between boat and shore/bank. I think the boat just gives you so many more options of where, when and what to fish vs. the bank. When bank fishing you're really at the mercy of the surrounding terrain, I mean you can only go where there's an opening around the shoreline and sometimes you have to hike a good ways to find it...a boat eliminates most of this hassle. I'm one of the foolish ones that brings everything but the kitchen sink, even if i only end up fishing with 1/8 to 1/4 of what i bring I'm always telling myself if you don't bring everything there's bound to be a time when you wished you had a certain lure etc. so I do it sherpa style for the bank fishing with a tackle box AND a tackle backpack and about 4 rods and reels (this usually entails a couple of trips to my fishing spot from the car. Ironically I carry the same amount for when I'm in the boat but it's A LOT easier...lol.

Whopper Plopper what line and rods are you using for the different sizes?
I fish my 90's on MH/F spinning rods...1 is a 7ft. Fenwick HMG and the other is a Tour KVD 7'4". Both rods have 30lb Power Pro braid on them and I tie direct to the lure. For my 130's I use a 7'5" iRod Fiber H/F casting rod with 50lb Sunline FX2 braid.

Whopper Plopper 110
I own 3 of the 130's in Bone, Loon and Perch. I also have a couple of 90's in Blue Blood and Phantom Shad. So far I have caught all of my Plopper fish on the 90's...the 130's haven't gotten bit once. Now I just purchased 3 of the 110's in I Know It, Monkey Butt and Bluegill but I haven't had a chance to fish them yet so my success rate with them is unknown but they look like the perfect combination of size so I'm hopeful that I will catch a lot with them.

Jackall Gantarel Jr. vs. R2S S-Waver 168
Yup, I have a bottle of the clear Hard as Nails that i will put on it.

Jackall Gantarel Jr. vs. R2S S-Waver 168
Thanks for all of the helpful info and suggestions. I ended up putting the Ganatrel Jr. on the wish list for next season and decided to give BOTH the R2S S-Waver 168 and the Savage Gear 3D Shine Glide 5-1/4" a try for this Fall. I ended up getting the S-Waver in Yellow Perch and the Shine Glide in Threadfin Shad. Wish me luck!!!

Fall Bite in Vermont?
How about other than Champlain since I don't get to fish there...what about other smaller lakes/ponds?

Jackall Gantarel Jr. vs. R2S S-Waver 168
Okay, I've locked in on one of these two baits for a Fall swimbait. These are the weight limit that my rod can handle so please don't suggest anything larger...it just won't work. The Gantarel Jr. I can get for $28.99 shipped while the S-Waver I can get for $16 shipped. Which one do you prefer and why? I would love to get some points of view from people who own or at least have fished with both for an honest perspective. Thanks all who reply!!!

iRod Fiber Fred's Magic Stick
I love mine!!!
-
iRod Fiber Fred's Magic Stick
50lb Sunline FX2 braid and a Tatula CT Type-R 8.1:1 reel.
-
iRod Fiber Fred's Magic Stick
So this is just misrepresentation from the company pure and simple?
-
iRod Fiber Fred's Magic Stick
Really? It clearly says 2oz. max lure weight on the rod. Shouldn't a rod at least be able to handle the lure weight it's specs list from the company?
-
iRod Fiber Fred's Magic Stick
I have one of these rods and was just wondering if it could handle this... That's a Mattlures Ultimate Gill which checks in at 1.9oz. My rod says it's lure weight range is 1/2oz. - 2oz. If it can, could i use my Tatula CT Type-R 8.1:1 reel and 50lb braid with this lure?

Kastking White Max
I currently have a Lews Tournament Pro with a 6.4:1 ratio on my crankbait rod and that would probably work but if I get that lower gear ratio reel that is meant for cranking I could move the Lews to another rod for something else.
