Does Anyone Use Mono for Jigs/Spinnerbaits?
So...if mono can be used for jigs/spinnerbaits could fluoro be used for smaller topwaters like poppers, buzzbaits and spook type baits? I'm probably overthinking this but I'm just trying to find a good all-around line for my jack of all trades rod/reel setup. I have my heavy setup with braid for frogs, heavier topwaters and larger jigs/spinnerbaits and I'm using 12lb. Invizx for my crankbait rod now I just need the most versatile line for my most versatile rod and I'll be set :).

Does Anyone Use Mono for Jigs/Spinnerbaits?
I know most people use either braid or fluorocarbon for jigs, spinnerbaits, t-rigs with senkos/craws but does anybody use mono for these techniques too like let's just say P-Line CXX clear (just an example)?

Sunline FX2
Okay, yup that is what I wanted to know. If I get this line it would be 50lb. for frogs, jigs and larger topwaters like Whopper Plopper 130's, MS Mini Slammers, Spro BBZ1 Rat and Savage Gear Suicide Duck etc.

Sunline FX2
I mean can you also use it for top water and jigs?

Sunline FX2
Is it JUST for frogging and flipping or can it be used as normal braided line would be?

Sunline FX2
So what's the good, the bad and the ugly on this braid?

Dobyns 704 vs 734
Have no idea about the Champion series but I just got a Fury 734C. I believe other tha length the 734 has a different taper than the 704. Others more knowledgeable than I will comment i'm sure. By the way, go to the Dobyn's rod web site and click on the "store" link on top and then click on "refurbished rods" link and whatever series you're interested in...they have some used but not abused factory refurbished rods (some are even new but may have minor defects so they can't sell them as new) and they come with the same warranty as new but only cost $80 TYD (for the Fury series).

Rage Tail Craw vs. Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw vs. V&M Wild Thang Craw
Which of these baits is the best all-around craw for multiple techniques (i.e. T-rig, weightless, flippin'/pitchin', topwater) and why?

Power Pro vs Super 8 Slick
Cabelas has Sufix 832 braid on sale for $11.99 per spool right now.

Is a Tour KVD Crankin' Rod Any Good?
I am wondering what the opinion on a 6'8" Tour KVD crankin' rod, medium/moderate is? It looks very thick around the bottom where the rod meets the handle but it's only rated for 1/4oz. - 3/8oz. lure weights...is this rugged enough for 1.5" square bills? What would be the limit you'd try with this rod?
-
Leader ?'s
I'm not really sure either. I'm thinking maybe my all-around rod that would be used for spinnerbaits, senkos/craws, swim jigs, jerkbaits, jigs, T-rigs etc.
-
Leader ?'s
Okay, I've been resisting a leader for a long time as I'm just not confident in my leader knot skills but figured why not attempt to learn the skill...just because I know how doesn't mean I need to use a leader. So, assuming I learn how to tie a couple of good leader knots like an FG or an Alberto etc., how long should your leader be? How often should you re-tie a leader (I am usually just a weekend warrior with an occasional weeknight foray...definitely not one of those guys who spend 6 - 8 hours a day 3 or 4 days a week fishing)? Do you want to match the line diameter of the braid to the mono/fluoro? Any thoughts would be appreciated! I still think I'll probably direct tie most of the time but if I do decide to use a leader I would like to be educated in it's use and purpose?

Spinnerbait rod choice?
My vote is the Fury 734C...but only because I have one on the way . Seriously though, I've heard nothing but rave reviews about this rod and it's versatility which played a major factor about my purchase (also, there's another popular bass message board where Gary Dobyn's himself is a member and answers questions about all of his rods...kind of cool being able to speak to the guy who designed the rod...PM me if you'd like to know which message board that is). Check this link out too...http://dobynsrods.com/store/#!/Refurbished-Fury-Series/c/22555050/offset=0&sort=normal, you can buy refurbished Dobyn's rods here for $80 TYD and they come with the same factory warranty as the new ones do...saves you some moo-lah to spend on other fishing stuff like lures, line etc.! This is the route I chose, good luck with your decision.

Good or Garbage?
I'm more worried about the breakage factor after reading some reviews. I don't care about the $3 I spent on the line but I would care a lot if it snapped and I lost a $20+ lure (I know, I know...if I'm worried about losing a lure i shouldn't have bought it and that point is taken...I just don't want to increase the chances by using crappy line known for breaking easily).
-
Good or Garbage?
I just picked up a spool of Spiderwire Stealth Glo-Vis 65lb. braid at Wal-Mart on clearance for $3...is this stuff any good or is it garbage and I wasted money?
-
Braid for Jigs?
So in theory this would work well for both topwaters and spinnerbaits and jigs etc.?
-
Braid for Jigs?
So what lines float or sink more? Obviously mono and braid float and fluorocarbon sinks but what about copolymer...is that the best of both worlds (i.e. could I use it for smaller top waters AND spennerbaits, jigs etc.)?

Braid for Jigs?
I'm thinking it's looking like my Irod Fiber 7'5" Heavy/Fast w/ a Daiwa Tatula CT 7.3:1 will be used for frogs, buzzbaits and heavier top water treble baits (like Whopper Plopper 130) and jigging in heavy cover so I'm leaning towards Sufix 832 braid in the 50lb. test. I'll just have to deal with the occasional fouling of the treble hook baits and recast them.On my Dobyn's Fury 734C 7'3" Heavy/Fast w/BPS Pro Qualifier 2 6.8:1 will use for jigs in structure and non-vegetation situations, chatterbaits, swim jigs, spin jigs, spinnerbaits, jerk baits, t-rigs, senkos/craws and think I'll be spooling on Sunline FC Sniper in 16lb. test (this is up in the air though as it's darned expensive plus I'll also be using this some for smaller top waters (spooks, sammy's, poppers etc.) so maybe a copoly or even mono (Sufix Siege) would be a better option? On my crankbait rod (which for now will be a Berkley Lightning Rod Shock 6'6" MH/F until I can find a suitable replacement) I'll be using my Lews Tournament Pro (for now until I determine which type of casting reel i like better, LH or RH) and I'll be putting on Seaguar Invizx in 12lb. test.

Braid for Jigs?
What about for the trebel hook top waters like the Whopper Plopper 130 and MS Mini Slammer, Spro Rat etc.?
-
Braid for Jigs?
So that 20lb. co-poly won't cut it in heavier vegetation?
-
Braid for Jigs?
These wouldn't be that great for frogs would they?
-
Braid for Jigs?
While this is probably good advice I just can't tie a leader well so prefer to direct tie if at all possible.
-
Braid for Jigs?
This kind of relates to my other topic about using braid for top water treble hook baits like the Whopper Plopper 130...I'm thinking my new heavy rod will be getting a workout with jigs, frogs and heavier top water baits. I'm also not confident in my leader knots and prefer to direct tie to the lures.
-
Braid for Jigs?
Can you use braid for jigs? Let's say I went with a 50lb. braid for frogs and top water...could that be used for jigs in the 3/8oz. - 1/2oz. range plus a trailer? My only fear is that braid isn't abrasion resistant and with jigs a lot of the time you are dragging them across the bottom and over structure.
