Gloves for sun protection
those are the ones I use and I have no complaints about them, i can still feel the bites and they dont get in the way of anything I do!! good on you for looking out for your skin man. I started doing that after i fished with a gentlemen who has had to get skin cancer removed from hands and forehead. really put things into perspective.

Diascund Creek Reservoir in VA
Havent been there in probably close to a year, its about a 45min drive from me as well. Seeing how this is my last year of bass fishing before the military moves me to Alaska, im gonna try and get back there a few times this year. I definitely had luck back past the second bridge, so if you guys ever want to head back there and need some company let me know!!

Catching shallow largemouth busting on baitfish
This year I had decent luck throwing a weightless fluke to the outside of the bait ball and just jerking it along.

Winter morning fishing?
After going the last two mornings I've come to a few conclusions: -the bass in my lakes have migrated to Mexico for winter -morning fishing doesn't work for me in the winter -I've lost my touch lol

Winter morning fishing?
So is it worth getting out there at sunrise? During the rest of the year we all love getting there during that golden hour, but do bass bite as much during the winter morning? Or do they wait till the water worms up a little? These questions have been on my mind lately, what do you guys think?

Cold December Crankin
with water being that cold, what speed are you bringing it back at? I haven't had much success with cranks once the water is that cold. now that I think about it, I haven't had much success with cranks at all this year lol

What did you learn or where did you improve at in 2016 .
Worms! I had a heck of a year focusing on my worm game haha wacky rigging a 4" worm was my go to bait for the year. I really had to slow down and that was my hardest challenge. After seeing how productive wacky was, I tried shakey heads, and I caught some of the biggest bass of the year that way. I still have trouble figuring out what to use when, but I know how to use certain baits to make them work for me. This year I definitely used more baits that I have in the previous three. The only one I have no confidence in but I know I need to work on is jigs. That's my goal for this next year, is catch more than 1 fish on a jig. Gotta start small!

Neat Fisherman Memory Idea
So I got this crazy idea the other day but I'm having trouble putting it all together, so why not ask my fellow fishermen. I'll try my best to explain this: Started collecting old antique fishing lures, I don't use them just collect them. I would never sell them, the story behind them is what drives me to collect them. Whose was it? Did they help catch their PB? Where did it come from? Etc. It's hard to know the story from one's I pick up online or at a yard sale. I'm thinking of reaching out to older fishermen that might have that lure with a great story and seeing if they would be willing to share that with me (along with the lure or something similar). That way that story is passed on. Unfortunetly, some of us are never able to pass our "the one that got away story," trying to help avoid that. Eventually I would put everything into a book, a book of stories and pictures, of fishermen for fishermen. Figured this would be the best place to start the search and maybe get some ideas... What do you guys think?

Cant believe this worked!
One of my home lakes had gone up about 3 ft, making it impossible to go under a bridge that was there. I was fishing near it and was catching a fish on almost every cast! I could hear fish splash in the tunnel now and then, so I got an interesting idea. The current was very strong going under the bridge (tunnel) so I threw my crank at the opening and let out line to let the current take it back. Started cranking down and right before it comes out from under the bridge it gets slammed! Lol couldn't help but laugh at the fact that it had actually worked!

Fun Fluke Fishing!
I had asked about bait fish breaking the surface recently and someone mentioned I should try to fish a fluke around the bait fish. I went out and did just that and had a blast! I would stay pretty far and cast to the outside of the bait ball, then retrieve it with a jerk pause. I seemed to get the bites on the pause. I even had a bass go airborne trying to get the fluke. Lol I'm pretty new to using flukes but I think I'll be using them much more, specially around the shallow grass that's everywhere in the lakes around me. Give it a try! Good luck!

Baitfish Bubbling Question
Looking back I Should have thrown a square bill, I'll definitely do that next time. Or a reaction bait under the ball of bait, thanks for all the info!

Baitfish Bubbling Question
Maybe bubbling was the wrong word, I saw them break the surface a few times. But I do know what bubbling you're talking about. It gets me sometimes lol

Baitfish Bubbling Question
The other day I was doing the fishing thing and the lake was like glass, it was a very slow day of fishing. The lakes were up 2-3 ft and a cold front had just passed and another was starting. I saw what looked like wind sweeping over the water but then I realized it was just in one spot, so I paddled over and made a cast right to the middle of it. A 16" bass nailed my shakey head before it hit the bottom ( was fishing in about 6 ft of water). It was pretty cool to do that so then I started seeing more balls of bait come to the surface around me. I tried the same thing but got no more bites after that. Something I did notice though was that some of the balls of bait were just under the surface not breaking it, does that mean no fish is chasing them or hunting them? Now and then they would break the surface and jump. I threw top water, and worms but they still didn't bite. Anybody have any experience on the behavior of baitfish? in the fall? Thanks guys.

Week full of Rain
So fishing was tough for me that Saturday, I only found one 10" bass. haha the lakes were about 2-3 feet higher because of the rain and everything I had been trying did not work for me. I tried new things and new areas but I just could not get into any fish. A lot of my buddies had trouble finding fish too, so that's the only reason I know it wasn't because I suck haha..wait what if we all suck...

Lol I'm sure everyone had a good laugh in that office

Fish Age
I found some charts online that have the length or weight and a good estimate of how old that fish is. Like Hog Basser said, its all dependent on a lot of variables.

Week full of Rain
fishing in the rain is something I love doing, some of my best days of fishing have been on rainy days. I haven't had too much luck fishing before or after storms tho, which is why I was wondering if maybe I was missing something haha.
