  1. This dude nailed it. Literally what I would've said!
  2. If we're talking pros here I'd have to go, in preference order, with either 1) Ike or 2) Scott Martin. Their enthusiasm, especially Ike's, and knowledge amps me up just watching their videos. I can't imagine actually being with them! If we're talking non-pros, anyone of my family members. They're all obsessed just like me.
  3. Awesome @Glenn. was curious about this. Never fished these personally but have read about people having a lot of luck with them
  4. What a phenomenal idea. Thank you for this tip
  5. Hmmm im guessing its till cold there. Id go with a jerkbait or wacky rig stick bait. Something with good presentation that you can fish slowly. Find a good cadence with the jerkbait. Really let that fish wait before you jerk it again. When you want to jerk it, wait 5 seconds more. The fish love that.
  6. Beautiful fish man. Congrats!
  7. Depends where you're living
  8. I will agree! I have personally fished with @bassinhole twice now and already have learned so much from him. Just get out there with someone that knows more than you and buy in. Obviously there are many things you will learn on your own and be able to teach that "better" person yourself. After all, fishing has a lot to do with trial and error. Take tips and tricks and tweak them yourself. You'll never know if something works until you try it. There is also great videos on youtube as well to help along the way. Best way is to get out there!
  9. Wow what a beauty. Congrats
  10. @z7master167 those are awesome
  11. @Steveo-1969 @PennBass ah dang that's too bad. I was hoping they finally figured something out. Thanks for the input!
  12. So @Steveo-1969 doesn't like it but the thread above seems like its good. hmmm. might have to check it out myself. "they" as in the company that makes it. thus why I wanted to ask people who may have used it....
  13. What is the benefit of using a left handed vs right handed bait caster, or is it preference? I use a left handed bait caster, even though im righty and find it so much easier. I feel like I have to keep switching my hands and positions with the right handed baitcaster. thoughts?
  14. Ive read about this new Gliss line that's being used out of the country. They're saying its as tough as braid but as translucent as fluoro carbon or mono. Thoughts, suggestions, anything?
  15. I agree its total preference. Im just saying, id rather have braid on it because you can throw it in any situation and be confident that if a biggone comes along, you wont break off. Braid all the way
  16. I still have no confidence in fishing a jerkbait due to my lack of knowledge and experience with them. Definitely something I want to master this year considering there is too much success with them.
  17. Almost 95% of the time. We got a great local flea market here in Oldsmar,FL with one of the most abundant tackle selections I've ever seen. Prices are great, the owner Bob, your old school fisherman is one of a kind. You don't get the thank yous from the Big companies that you do from your local Mom and Pop shops. Unfortunately that 5% other time is when they just don't have what im looking for or there's those amazing sales that you cant miss out on at the "bigger companies"
  18. @Bluebasser86 thanks a lot. That is awesome!
  19. Good to know. You've saved me $15 haha
  20. I've had a lot of luck with the Yum Dinger. With the hook guard slot, you don't always have to insert it into the bait to make it weedlesswhich increases hook-up ratio
  21. @Western-Mass-Bass What is this fishing flea market?
  22. if youre going baitcaster id go with the abu Garcia black max. About 40 bucks. easy to use and honestly good quality. Pair it up with a Berkley lightning and its a great beginners setup. Id go with 7ft or about medium heavy to heavy. For spinning combos, the Quantum Octane is a nice setup. Again same sizes
  23. They're expensive for the yamasenkos so if you can find a knock off version or a flea market that makes them or make them yourself but the all black senko with the neon blue tip is absolute killer in Central Florida. I still have yet to find a stick bait color that gets me the strikes I get with the all black blue tip stick bait. Second best if you're looking for a creature bait/craw imitation is the black and blue Havoc Pit boss. Whether you're throwing it Texas rigged, weighted/unweighted, or as a jig trailer, it has been an awesome bait for me. Fish it many different ways, even top water, and expect some action!
  24. asdfI'd hit canals or small ponds this time of year more so than large bodies of water, especially those with heavy fishing pressure like both Toho's. hahaha those d**n laughing birds. Rough trip but amazing to get on the water. We'll get them next time!
  25. Real tough day Saturday on West Lake Toho. My buddy and I were on the lake for about 10 hours starting right before 7a.m. Circled the lake 3 times. Accompanied by about 100+ other boats, everyone seemed to have the same problems. We threw about everything we had and more. Blue bird skies, 65 air temp with 66 degree waters. We managed to get 3 on the boat, the biggest being 3lber. No patterns detected. Saw a lot of beds but no fish on them. Saw a lot of nice size cruisers in different areas but were unable to hook up with any. Hopefully better luck next time!
