How does one report a record size..
I was wondering after looking at some State Bass Size records, how can one go about reporting a record size catch legitimately? I was wondering because the Michigan Largemouth record seems kinda small for the bass ive seen around here lately. I have a feeling the Michigan Largemouth record will be broken soon by someone.

Am I a bad Angler?
Man catchin just one fish a day is good, some days you wont catch crap because of weather, time, etc etc, then you have to go threw lures, setups etc etc til you find something that works cant catch em all the time every time.

Shimano Crucial vs. Loomis GL2
I have a 7' Shimano Sensilite 2-piece rod thats 7' in length. Ive used this rod and use it now exclusivly its a nice rod. I am getting a G.Loomis for my next rod though if that helps.

What else would you suggest?
This is VERY true I caught a baby largemouth no joke it couldnt of been more then 4 inches long and it fit a whole 3-point hook that was on a torpedo in its mouth just the other day. Even small mouth can take more then you think.

The biggest problem I see with you from the way you typed things is that you need confidence in your equipment. Without it (confidence) you wont do much. Its not what you fish with it how you fish with it. Nothing is wrong with what you baught. Try to find a Bass Pro Shop in your area or a Tackle specific shop first before going to a place like Wal-Mart, believe me they need your business to stay in business.

Share you little tricks and tips thread.
Thought id make a thread for people to share the little tips, tricks, and or tactics they use that most dont. Ill start.. When fishing a C-rig, T-rig, or any fake worm setup add a small black rubber O ring on the hook after your selected bait is set on the hook. Doing this will prevent worm slippage, you wont have to adjust your bait from things like sliding off a hook or recalibrating your bait. You also expose more of the critical area of the hook at all times giving you more solid hook sets.

Rod, Line, Tackle, etc Manufacturer links
Is there something stickyed somewhere where it has all or close to all Manufacturers links that have to do with fresh water fishing? If not we should get one stickyed im endlessly searching search engines for links and I think this would be most helpful. If its not possible to start one on the forums can someone direct me to somewhere where it has all the links for manufacturers? Thanks.

how often do you lie?
Just remember treat others as you would like to be treated. If hes a good sportsman type I would have been honest, HOWEVER if it looked like some punk or guy whos just gonna keep every thing he catches even if they JUST or BARELY made the legal limit (You know the type..) id of lied as well. I would have lied because thats what id want people to do to those type of people who consider themselves sportsman.

Spotted bass take over!!!
We got a couple here where I fish every day but they hang out near the blue gill it seems like and dont really cause much of a problem. BUT some dumb little @#$% threw two catfish in this water I about killed him.

what is your fav. structure to fish and why?
Fishing around curves, a few feet out from shore in weed beds, right where its calm in one spot then wavey near by cast out near there and theres stuff there, around fallen tree parts (logs, branches, etc), In rocky areas near where it starts to turn dirt. Theres quite a few others..

General Bass Information
Wow I am very impressed with you guys not only do you know your fishing but you really KNOW these fish. The frozen water question came up only because here in Michigan bodies of water will freeze (at the top solid) for about one month out of the year. When I say freeze I dont mean they freeze solid I mean the top of the water freezes so you can walk on it in some cases. Many people ice fish here as well. I had no idea bass had such a decent life expectancy, I thought maybe around 5 years so that impressed me. From now on when I see large chunks of land mass such as stones, blocks, logs etc etc I will DEFFINATLY be throwing them in that body of water. Thank you for that bit of information. When I was younger and when my father was around I remember him catching a certain species of fish from time to time and cutting its head off then throwing it on shore. He told me something about them feeding on bass and are bad fish for bass waters. The fish could have been a Carp if im not mistaken or a Dog fish im not 100% sure on the species but I remember this day. He told me not to worry about the fish because other animals will eat it upon finding it and that the reason for the head cutting was to disperse the scent in the air for land predators.

This site
I have said nothing but good things about this site and I find it VERY helpful and usefull but you cant say theres just one site thats owns it all. Thats like argueing over search engines. Me asking this question has no negative effects on this site what so ever or is it me saying some of the things one or two of you said. I obviously love it here and am proud to be apart of this great community. Site recommendations could be anything from good places to buy bait, general knowledge of fishing sites, sites that maybe tell you how and show you how to tie every fishing knot possibly known to man, the list could go on. There is nothing wrong with this question.

General Bass Information
Im looking for just some informative information on Bass that probably arent asked that much if at all. Since im so addicted to catching these beautys id like to learn everything about them. Ill ask general questions and leave enough room between each for replys, thanks to all who respond. Might even make a good sticky? who knows.. What is the average life expectancy of both a Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass? What do Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass do in the winter for food sources when the bodies of water they frequent in some states are frozen solid? What can a person do to help a Largemouth and Smallmouth Basses habitat in which they live in, are there things you can do maybe cheaply to make em say spawn more or improve their overall health that arent very costly or time consuming? Do Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass have predators (wether it be birds or other problem fish) that can ruin their numbers in a given body of water? If yes to the question above do you have any recommendations or solutions on getting rid of these problematic things? Do you know something about Bass in general that people might be suprised to know, if so what? How long can you keep a Bass out of water before doing damage to the fish itself. Do you think all Bass should be released back? If yes or no are there certain circumstances aside from legal that would effect your decision? This is all I can think of in two minutes off of the top of my head.

worm presentation
Heres what my amatuer butt does 1) Cast, let it sit then reel in very slow, set hook when needed. 2) Cast, let it sink, 3 quick jerks a pause then 1 long jerk, reel in the slack, repeat jerk process, set hook when needed. 3) Cast without a weight over heavy cover at dusk if you dont get a bite after a few mins and jerks, reel in, repeat. I basically use these three methods only with grubs and they work everytime for me.

This site aside. Are there any other great fishing sites you frequent that provide a lot of information? Can anyone point me to some real nice informative websites or just good fishing sites overall? Thanks.

If you could Bass fish anywhere in the world...
Yeah it gets cold up here in the winter. Id say we got good fishing all year round. You can catch fall when it cools off, you can catch spring when there hungry from winter, you can catch summer when there aggitated more, and you can fish winter, id say only about a month and a half you can safely ice fish here. Not to mention we have The 3 Great Lakes; they are the three largest bodies of freshwater i know for sure of in the USA and ive even heard in the world before. This is just getting you started.. there are endless Ponds, Resvoirs, Lakes, Rivers, Streams. ALL water types, from Clear to Muddy, from sandy to muddy, from weedy to well you get the picture. Michigan is a year round Bass both LARGE and small (or about any and/or all fresh water fish) time to fish. Fishing in all types of water under different weather condititions is a fishermans dream IF they want to expierence the different types of fishing through all water conditions. In my opinion a real fish lover wouldnt let weather be a reason why he dont fish.

If you could Bass fish anywhere in the world...
El Salto And if you havent fished in Michigan you must it is after all the Great Lakes State with the largest bodies of fresh water in the United States (I think even the world). There are so many monsters out here of all types, pike, muskee, bass, you name it. Deffinatly has got to be ONE of the very BEST states in the United States to fish.
