  1. Nice pacu @Darth-Baiter, they are one of my favorite fish to catch. The power and endurance pacu have for their size is impressive to say the least. They are pure muscle, with a strong, broad tail that they know how to use very well.
  2. I highly recommend you fish and camp along the Suwannee River when you get a chance, it is an awesome experience. I drove all the way from South Florida to do this and it is one of my favorite road trips. I caught lots of nice fish, but the scenery alone was worth the trip!
  3. Lots of good advice in this thread. Mepps inline spinners and spinnerbaits are great lures for smallmouth bass fishing in rivers.
  4. Well said @GaryH. People have become much more aggressive with less empathy in the last 2.5 years. I see people speeding more than ever both on the roads and on the water, it is no surprise incidents like these are happening more frequent with so many people that only seem to care about themselves. The OP posted another similar incident less than a couple days ago, it seems this is the new normal, maybe one day people will regain their humanity again, until then expect more events like these and others that are occurring during this time.

I buy my jigs from regular online stores and some custom made ones from private sellers.
  6. When it comes to bass fishing nothing beats catching a big bass on a topwater.

I buy my hair jigs and other jigs online.
  8. Yes we live in the state with the best fishing and we do not have to travel far for world class fishing opportunities. The fish we take for granted sometimes are fish others spend thousands of dollars to catch. For example, you have tarpon in the river next to your daughter's house, I have tarpon within walking distance of where I live, along with peacock bass, snook, largemouth bass, and other fish. I have caught my fair share of these fish, but I still like catching them since they are awesome gamefish. With that said, I still like to drive far for some of my fishing trips, since I like the change of scenery, for me fishing is more than catching fish, I enjoy seeing the beauty of nature around me as much as I enjoy fishing.

  11. I have caught many big bass while it was raining. You should give it a try, you might end up catching a new personal best or other nice fish.
  12. I have been fortunate in my life to have caught many memorable fish, so any fish I catch now is a bonus fish to add to my photo albums. Yes, Florida has an amazing tarpon fishery. We have fish from the Amazon and many other exotic places swimming in the canals and lakes of South Florida. Best thing is you can catch all these fish from land without having to pay a guide, we truly live in the Fishing Capital of the World.
  13. I have invested thousands of dollars into my fishing hobby, and every single penny was worth it.
  14. I literary started laughing out loud when I saw the other fishes sing. This man is very creative.
  15. Speed is an undeniable factor in a lot of boat crashes, you can look up the statistics if you want. I will never waste my time fishing with someone that speeds on the water. This seems to becoming more common as time passes. These people need to hit up a track and work on their 40 yard sprint time instead of driving fast on the water, at least sprinting is a Sport, anyone can drive a boat fast. If the 40 yard sprint is too short of a distance they can always complete a full marathon if they are up to the challenge.
  16. Some people think they are invincible so they do not wear life jackets while speeding on the water. They do not think of how their actions will affect others, they only care about themselves. Even the best of the best swimmers can easily drown if the boat flips over from speeding, most bass fishermen I know are not good swimmers so it is quite dumb of them to not wear a life jacket while boating.

  18. I rather buy Ned rig jigs than make them. Making jigs with lead weights is not good for your health and you will save time by buying them. Time is far more valuable than money.
  19. Make sure to put the braid tight on the reel and you should not have braid dig in your spool.
  20. More people than before are speeding both on the water and on the roads these days. Sadly many do not care about others. Would be great if more speed limits are placed on all bodies of water to prevent boaters from speeding. Even then, it might not be enough since these laws need to be enforced. In Florida there are people that speed in manatee zones, you really have to be a jerk to speed in these areas knowing well manatees are an endangered species in Florida.
  21. I wonder if people that speed recklessly, do they do this since it makes themselves feel strong, or fast, or both? If this is the case they might be trying to make up for something they are lacking. It might be better for these individuals to improve their 40 yard sprint time and lift some big weights, that way they are doing something good for themselves that does not hurt others. There is a reason why highways have speed limits, it is to protect everyone on the road.
  22. Welcome to the forum. The Shimano Tranx is a great, powerful baitcaster than is more than good enough for the biggest of snakeheads you will encounter. You can also fish with heavy spinning gear for big snakeheads if you want, that is my favorite way to fish for big snakeheads.
  23. ''Florida Man'' is usually some clown that moved to Florida and brought their nasty attitudes to our state. There is a reason they left their home state and came to live to Florida, they think they are free to do whatever they want, but even laid back Florida has rules they have to follow.
  24. Well said @N Florida Mike. I remember how peaceful it was to drive 20 years ago, even 10 years ago was much better than the clown show we have on the road these days. We have way too many people moving to Florida that have nasty attitudes that think they can do whatever they want and could care less who they hurt. The ironic thing is these were the same people talking garbage about Florida for years before moving to Florida, yet here they are living in our state or visiting on vacation. That is why I do not take these types of people seriously, they say one thing and do another thing.
