  1. I am partial to braid for everything..sure slack line sensitivity might not be there but it is no stretch so you can make up for some of that on the hook set.
  2. Does anybody have experience with this rod? I have handled one and really like the action for what i want to do but also do not want to drop ~$400 on a rod and not like it.
  3. Well Im not really looking for a bass rod lol. Im looking at the 6'10" mag-light for crappie and walleye. Im not too informed on all the new gear so Thanks!!
  4. This may have already been discussed but I'm in the market for a new rod and saw that the GLX's are on sale at Tackle Warehouse. I was wondering if Loomis is planning on redoing their GLX line? From my understanding it has been awhile since they "upgraded" that line. Thanks for any info!
  5. Im a big fan of blackened fish!! No idea on how to clean them though..
  6. I guess I'm off to experiment! Thanks guys
  7. Well I didn't really have this question until I put a lews tourney pro on the avid mxf and was getting much better casting distance with the same lure and line compared the revo s. So perhaps Ill try braid on the GL2 as I much prefer it. The lure rating on the avid is 1/4-5/8 and the GL2 has a lure rating of 1/4-3/4. Can a reel not "like" braid?
  8. So I know many people say braid does effect casting distance but I have an experience where it did however it may have been the rod. I had an abu revo s on a st. croix avid mxf 6'2" casting rod with braid and the casting distance was not great (this reel had 30lb braid on it). I was casting KVD square bills. I now have this revo s paired on a Loomis GL2 MHM rod with p-line co-poly line and the casting distance is much better. So my question to you guys is, with out having to change line and find out, is the "crankbait" rod just better for casting crankbaits or does the distance gain have to do with the different line? Thanks!
  9. Sooooo Jealous. Walleye and Crappie are my main species to target. Nice fish guys!
  10. So would something like the MHMF be a better option? Ill be using braid so hook sets with jigs shouldnt be to bad.
  11. So i am trying to kill two birds with one stone and not sure if I can accomplish this. I am looking at new mojo bass because of the SCIII graphite, which will provide me more sensitivity over older models. I think a the 7'3" MHF would be a good rod for that but could it also work decently as a frog rod because of croix's tendency to run a little heavy? Thanks all
  12. I asked you to do something and you did not (imagine that) but you want him to listen to you? ok sarge.
  13. Or its like trying to teach a clueless person about rods..
  14. shaggydog.....stop please. its gettin old. Thanks!!
  15. Are you looking for a split grip? The triumph X has a split grip but i did not mention it because it has a longer handle butt.
  16. check out a st. croix premier ML 6'. handle should be like 5" of handle sticking out past the reel?
  17. We stay on Alexandria island which is in Little Traverse. I would not say clear water. Last year we casted bank lines with 1.5's and did very well for our limited experience anyway. Thanks for info everyone!
  18. Hopefully this is an easy question but we go to lake of the woods the 1st or 2nd week of august and last year we got on a good square bill bite. I am wondering how something like a zara spook would work this time of year? I am slowly graduating from strictly cranks for my bass fishing and could use some input! Thanks
  19. I am comparing to the same rod and bait but they are different diameter lines. One being 12 pound p-line and one being 30/8 braid?? I think thats what it is anway...its either 20/6 or 30/8
  20. I just bought a Loomis GL2 7' crank bait rod for a price that I couldn't pass up. Here's my question. I have a revo s and a lews tournament pro. Which would fit the Loomis better? The lews is a 7:1:1 gear ratio while the revo is a 6:4:1. The gear ratio doesn't matter too me as much as performance does. But I have only used the revo with braid and the lews with p-line cx. The lews casted way better but Im not sure if thats due to the line... FWIW the other rod that I have is a St. Croix avid 6'3" MXF. Any input would be appreciated! or maybe I just have to experiment..cause I would like one reel with braid I think.
  21. Would I be better off with the 705 or 704? This will be used mostly with KVD 1.5 and 2.5 and sparingly with rattle traps and jerk baits.. I think the 705 would be better but I want it to cast the 1.5's as well as possible. Oh decisions!!
  22. I would be throwing square bills until I found some that were concentrated then maybe something like a senko or fluke?
