Legend Elite ES610MLXF
Have that exact rod and reel...i went with a 2500 on the rod. But absolutely amazing. If you ever venture to waterloo, stop by Hank's. Quite the selection of stuff!!

What st.croix legend extreme should I buy?
Are you set on the extreme? I would suggest the the New Elite if you are not set on the extreme. I would lean towards the 7'4" HF just because you said you don't use braid.

How long till line gets bad?
I don't want to leave it on my reels for a lengthy amount of time, I want to leave it NIB and just keep it somewhere without having to worry about it getting bad. I do agree though, nearly all my rods have braid and I dont change until I run out of line... I figured, but it never hurts to ask! Thanks!

How long till line gets bad?
Hopefully a simple question but how long will spools of line stay good? With the BOGO going on for p-line tactical I was thinking of picking some up but also just purchased some sniper. Will the tactical stay good awhile if I go ahead and get it?

Avid X Casting Rod
Nothing to persuade you to not buy one. This is my latest rod purchase

How many deer do you harvest a season?
I start out bow hunting for a mature buck but by the time late season rolls around (Dec 20-Jan. 10 in iowa) I am trying to get a doe to have some meat for the freezer. So I guess at least one doe. Shot my first buck in like 3 years this year. If you own farm land, you can get what are called deprivation tags and harvest a ton of deer, but a situation like the OP's seems extreme...

Crappie specific rod and reel combo
With casting distance in mind I would look at a 7' rod. Also make it an UL if 1/8oz and under. I would also strongly consider sufix nanobraid or berkely nanofil if just in weeds. These lines cast phenomenally. Or maybe like the 5lb power pro?

I need a light finess spinning set up - 350 USD budget
First, I would recommend the Legend Elite over the Legend Extreme. I cant compare the Elite to the GLX but the Elite is sweet rod. The 6'10" Mag-lite GLX would also be a great rod. Check around on ebay or post a WTB in the fishing flea market forum on here.

Well Im partial to St.Croix but you have kind of ruled that out. Outside of Croix, I would suggest something from Kistler or Dobyns in the price range of $250 but I do not have much experience with these lines. Megabass is an intiguing choice as well.

Spend more on the rod!! Especially for the techniques you are planning on using. A better reel can come later but isn't really necessary.

This is great! Looks like my collection of spinning reels. Havent found a better one!

Finesse Spinning Rod - Replacing MXF/MLF Rods
Um well I wouldn't say that but I am using braid on mine and also walleye fishing with it. So I cannot say for sure how I feel on it for bass fishing, but I don't think its underpowered.

SC lll that much better than SC ll?
Ive got and old premier and a couple avids and I hate the premier. Just seems dead to me. I think the SCIII is much better than the SCII but get what you want! Maybe do a little digging for a deal on an Avid X?

Finesse Spinning Rod - Replacing MXF/MLF Rods
I have the 6'10" MLXF Legend Elite and find it to be an absolute stellar rod. Could't imagine something more sensitive but I also have never used an NRX. I would be choosing between either of these two rods. I like XF action vs F action but that is merely personal preference.

Rod to pair with a Patriarch
Fenwick Aetos or St. Croix Avid x is a good place to start.
-
Rod selection, help appreciated!
That combo would be great for a first set-up. In the mojo line I would look at the 7'1" MF. That covers a pretty good range of weights as St.Croix's tend to fish slighty heavier than other brands. (comparing a st.croix medium to a Loomis medium) The curado 200i would also be a good choice as Shimano is redoing the curado (not the 70) and can be found for a discount.

FC or Braid for Chatterbaits
While not a chatter bait, I typically base my line on the rod for moving baits. If I have a moderate rod I will use braid, but I just got a Medium fast rod for cranks and will be putting flouro on it.

"First time braid suggestion" part 2
I never use a leader but I also do not fish clear lakes. For the waters you a describing, I doubt there is any reason to use a leader as the knot will just give you a another place to break off.

pflueger patriach sizes
The 25 is going to be slightly bigger than a 1000 and a 30 is going to be slightly bigger than an a 2500 but what BBF said above me is pretty good!
-
Which is more important? The rod or reel?
Depends on the technique the rod is going to be used for!
-
What's Your Combo?
A St.Croix Avid x and a Shimano or Daiwa reel under $300. Take your pic on the reel. If the rod was more important for like bottom baits, I would get a LTB and a Curado 70.

Shakespeare Rods - What's the Deal?
If you want to get a st.croix I would look at the NEW mojo's just cause its cheaper than the avid x..but the avid x and the avid are great sticks!!!
