  1. ABA, Winfield Bass Club, Southwinds Bass Club. I am sure there are others.
  2. Use what makes fishing fun for you, there are no rules when it comes to just having a good time. There are high quality spincast reels available if that is what you choose to fish with. Don't sweat the small stuff, none of us are getting off this ride alive.
  3. My .02 is that you will find that you will require less braking after a good tune. The reel will become much more consistent and predictable, it will also require less effort on your part and you will be able to achieve the same results with a much smoother cast. Just my .02
  4. The theory of bass seeing red has less to do with the fishes ability and more to do with the simple physics of light. Red is highest wavelength color, what this means to fisherman and bass in this situation is that when light is filtered by water the color red will be the first to loose it's ability to reflect light at that point it becomes a gray scale color.
  5. Curious to know what it is you feel provides the contrast.
  6. Really the only equipment you need is a rod, reel and bait. It don't take any time to make a couple of casts to find out.
  7. That's a beautiful fish, thanks for the share.
  8. In our area I often see schools of shad with what appears to be no active feeding. When using a good fish finder many times you can see fish underneath the schools just hanging out until the dinner bell rings again. I like to throw a small spoon or a kastmaster bait and let it fall through the school, it looks like a bait fish that died and is falling from the school. I have seen often where this will trigger a reaction strike and once in a while you can get several fish to start feeding by using this technique.

for something to reflect as white it must be struck with all wavelengths of light, something that probably will not happen in most fishing waters especially at any depth. Fire tiger color typically uses greens and purples two of the shortest wavelength colors that the human eye can see and will have the best opportunity to reflect their color at depth.
  10. Hecho en Mexico... if that makes a difference to you.
  11. Lots of variables make this a difficult question to discuss. If the water is very clear light can penetrate to that depth, the wave lengths that have the best chance are blue -475nm and Purple or Indigo - 445, UV light will also be able to penetrate to this depth. The remaining colors will not be able reflect and will appear as a grayscale. Take a picture and convert it to grayscale, may give you a better idea of what the bait will look like at that water depth.
  12. Not a bad idea, but I kind of like my rods the way they are now (in one piece). LOL Thanks for the info.
  13. Some rods that will work well with that reel would be Berkley models, cherrywood, lightning, and lightning shock. Other that may work well are some of the Fenwick rods. If you want to increase your spending some the most competitive market seems to be in rods around 100 dollars and most any of them will work well.
  14. If you were fishing a 3/8 oz jig with a trailer before you broke the tip, and continue to fish the same bait with it broken. What will be the difference in the action now that the tip is shorter?
  15. Seems like it would make the action faster, you are reducing the distance from the tip to the backbone.
  16. I prefer vanilla over chocolate so does that make it better....
  17. The color matters as much as it matters in any other top water bait. I have used the Whopper Plopper to catch many fish, most of those have come with the lure sitting perfectly still. The lure does not sit horizontal on the water, it sits in almost a vertical position with the lower 2/3rds of the bait beneath the water. When the fish are going good color may be one of the lesser concerns, but when the bite is much tougher I believe that it is one of the things that you have some control over that can make a difference.
  18. Might try the Sunline Defier Armilo mono. It is expensive but it does have much less stretch than most mono's, it is a quality line and you will notice it as soon as you open the package. Back it with something cheaper and it ends up not being to costly.
  19. That bait will catch you a lot of fish if you take the time to learn it.
  20. Action and Power are two of the terms that I often notice being used incorrectly. I think it is important to understand the difference. Rod Power: The “power” of a rod refers to how much pressure it takes to flex the rod. Different rod powers are engineered to efficiently handle a certain range of lure weights and line sizes. To select a rod power that will perform best for you, simply narrow your choices to rods designed to cast the weight of lures – and sizes of lines – you’ll fish with most often. Rod Action: The “action” of a rod is determined by where a rod flexes along the blank. Faster action rods flex mostly near the tip. Moderate action rods flex more near the middle of the blank. Slower action rods flex down into the butt section. Borrowed from the St.Croix website.
  21. I would be happy to, send me a PM and we will work out the details.
  22. We have a small chain of restaurants in Kansas called Nu-Way they date way back into the 1930's. Nu-Way is famous for loose meat sandwiches and home made root beer. The root beer has a great strong flavor unlike any other I have tried. http://www.kansastravel.org/wichita/wichitanuway.htm
