  1. Now that I need to replace the two rods that broke this summer I was wondering if anyone has used the Lew’s TP1X Speed Stick HM40 Casting Rods. I’m a Lews guy so I was just wondering if anyone likes this rod? Thanks for your input
  2. @WRB yes I learned a valuable lesson the hard way
  3. On my last fishing misadventure in which my wife’s friend broke my jig rod (the one that had the eyelet problem), the back of the boat filling up with water (yes the drain plug was in) it’s amazing how the big waves can almost sink an aluminum boat just sitting on the beach. Good thing boats have a bilge pump and of course a lot of praying to Jesus for it not sinking. Oh and my phone getting wet in a plastic bag that wasn’t sealed all the way as well as my wallet and whatever I had in the bag. If that wasn’t bad enough, as I was pulling into the neighborhood about to back my boat into my driveway. I noticed a flat tire starting on the trailer. And the hits just kept coming. Now to my question, does it matter where I put the jack to raise the trailer to change the tire? Thanks for your input. One more thing, yes it was a big learning experience and I hope not to make the same mistakes again.
  4. I love my Lews, I started in the $100 to $150 range and don’t have a problem with them.
  5. Update, I appreciate all the input on the eyelet. I ended up taking the eyelet off for I ran out of time. Anyway I’m not going to worry about the rod, it broke on the trip. That’s two rods broken the last two fishing trips.
  6. I was just wondering why I would want a medium rated rod? I have medium heavy and heavy 7’ foot to 7’6” rods. So I was just wondering why I would want a medium rated rod? Thanks for the input
  7. @casts_by_fly it’s not the ring but at the base of the eyelet. Sorry for not describing it better I usually have My Wife check everything out but she was asleep.
  8. Ok there I was loading up my rods to go fishing today when all of a sudden my Okuma flipping rod eyelet broke.(it’s my jig rod) It seems that the epoxy came undone (if that makes any sense). Anyway my question is this, can I just superglue this or should I invest in a repair kit? I’m going fishing again at Lake Murray this coming Friday and would love to have a working flipping/jig rod. Thanks for all the input
  9. Thanks @A-Jay and @Smokinal, I appreciate the advice. The one I have is in bad shape the more I look at. Might just have to buy a new one. Thanks again
  10. How long should a life jacket last under normal conditions? And how long will they last? If you didn’t take care of them for many many years? My question is should I go ahead and purchase a new life jackets? The ones I had or have our foam jackets not the inflatable ones. Thank you for your input.
  11. I have a hard enough time paying $10 or $15 on lures let alone the $200 for the rod and the $200 for the reel just to fish it. But Christmas is coming. My wife just said NO not getting it,so I guess I’ll stick to the $10-$15 lures
  12. It’s a group of men that love to go bass fishing that meet once a month and talk bass fishing and plan a tournament once a month. It’s amazing to do, making new friends, learning new stuff and most of all. Going BASS Fishing, hope this answers your question.
  13. It would be nice to find a club somewhere close.
  14. I have 9 casting rods and 10 reels. I just broke a rod ☹️. But am always looking for more.
  15. So much for the voltmeter. Not sure if anyone has heard of this happening but believe it or not this happened. I was just starting to use the voltmeter on the plug that the trolling motor plugs into, when all of sudden one of the prongs turned bright red and burned off the tip of one of the prongs. (I know right) anyway, the boat is at the dealership to get fixed. Thanks for all the advice…
  16. @gimruis Yes to answer your question I was thinking about changing that as well. I guess I need to also get the voltmeter out.
  17. My Minn Kota edge momentary switch seems to have stopped working. So I replaced the switch, before I put the foot pedal back in the tray I checked to make sure that it worked and it did. I put it all back together. Did one final check, it didn’t work. Any ideas on what it could possibly be? I’m almost tempted to get another trolling motor, anyway thanks for the input.
  18. So I haven’t been able to fish the last few months. Even my fishing license had expired. So a buddy of mine wanted to go night fishing the other night. So I said what the heck got my fishing license, 4 rods ready to go for the big night. Within an hour, I broke a rod and two hours later, major rat nest in my reel. Needless to say, can’t wait to get out there again. Just wanted to share.
  19. And this is why I ask for input on BR, thanks for the great information I really appreciate it
  20. I know that I talked about reel ratio a few days ago but now I’m asking about a Lew's SuperDuty GX3 Baitcast Reel for swim baits. Anyone know about these reels or used them? Thanks for the input.
  21. I’m a lews guy and been looking at the super duty rods to fish large swim baits with. I’m most likely getting the 7’6 or 7’11 heavy rod. Any thoughts about these Lengths? Also will be fishing glide baits with the rod I get. Thanks for the input
  22. What gear ratio should I use for swim baits??? And would it be the same for glid baits??? Thanks for the input
  23. I feel so smart today, I put on my boat cover today just before it started to rain. Now my boat will be nice and dry. I just keep surprising myself sometimes. Now if I can just start catching bass I would feel even better 😂😂😂
  24. @Junger my wording is not so good sometimes but yes it will run on continuous. @MN Fisher I also don’t like to run continuously. I Just use the trolling motor to position the boat to spots where I can fish better.
