Owner Flashy Swimmer
Yeah they're not bulletproof. They do need a little mending while in use. It would be nice to see if Siebert outdoors could make a similar setup with better components. Until then they work fine for the time being. I should have lost it to bushes about 10 different times but it always came out after A little game of tug O war.

I ordered some keitech for the same reason. I'm gonna be fishing bass champs tournament on Falcon Lake and I will be tossing these in the trees and shallow rocks.

I haven't heard or seen these jigs heads till a couple of days ago. I thought I would spread the word for those who like small paddle tail swimbaits. Threw it for the first time today in the 1/4oz 5\0 hook. Did well enough to buy some more. I don't have much luck with spinnerbaits so this will be my shallow water bait. Caught about 8 bass on it and nothing special but it was a tough day. Owner flashy swimmer try some.

Fishing Apparel
I like to wear these, but I am south Texas and burn easy. Not to hot and I like the built in buff and the thumb hole in sleeves protect the back of your hands. http://fishhidesportswear.com/

1st tournament
We got them on DT 6 and DT 10 in shad and crawfish, rage menace watermelon red, and a jig head with a willow style blade with soft plastic (caught a 5# on it) most of the good fish were in 10' of water. Fishing drop offs and rock piles.

Do you have a "that friend" and what does he do?
I might be that guy to my friend. LoL we started out as kayak buddies but now fish on his boat. Lots of stories my favorite is a trip flipping cattails. He was on the bow working the tm. I was on the back- I'm a control freak and hated the back of the boat. I ended up in his back pocket and we were at each others throats like pitbulls swearing and "complaining " I almost fell off a couple of times . We did fish a small tournament and got 2nd. I just took my entry fee and gave him the rest of my half of the earnings. Plus I will give him lures or buy him some. I'm not that bad but I'm to anal and he is to relaxed but we have fun and I wish I could record our conversations but that could be used as evidence later lol

1st tournament
My buddy wanted me to fish a tournament with him, so gaining confidence in my abilities I met up with him. We had a 19lbs 5 fish limit and got 2nd. 1st place was a local guide with 25lbs. The 3rd place team had 12.3lbs. I was excited about 2nd but after we all left we found out the 1st place guy was a guide and wasn't even supposed to fish the tournament. We were all weekend warriors but ....... anyway you can tell I'm bitter lol. Caught fish on rage menace, and cranks mostly. We would have had biggest bass as well. (Sorry can't stop) would have been nice. I took my entry fee from our winnings and let my buddy keep the other half. I think I got an itch for this tournament stuff.

Buying 1st Aluminum Boat (20k Budget)....Help
Don't get a smaller motor to fit your budget. You will regret it.

Picking up a 2014 tzx195
I'm not a bass boat expert but looks like a great platform. I know about motors and the Yamaha 175 hpdi is one of the best motors you can get. That console graph is huge. Should provide great memories for you

Picking up a 2014 tzx195
I would say a few 4lbs bass maybe an 8# if you're lucky. Serious note- seems like a well laid out boat- are you asking about price or performance? I will say it's much nicer than what I have.

New yaker please help
Get a 12' kayak so you can grow into it- if you can move it by yourself. Don't be afraid to buy used. Lots of good kayaks out there for sale cause people don't like getting wet while fishing lol anyway always wear life jacket. I am not required to but I still do. Anything can happen while fishing- worrying about swimming is one less thing to do while trying to get help. I was in the coast guard for 10years. Really sad when we find bodies that could have been saved. Families devastated- get a good life jacket that's comfortable and wear it.

Helix 7 on a Yak?
I have a 5" FF want to get a 7". My friend has one- it's a lowrance 7 though but size why seems a little big but worth it if you're looking at structure and such. Little details make a big difference

Elite 7 Ti
Very interested in this. For bass fishing I would get the total scan. Here is a link to a topic I started elsewhere. http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=56602

Native Ultimate Fx 12
Look for info at www.texaskayakfisherman.com you might find a few people with experience with that yak on there. I think my friend had/has one? I moved a few years ago and fished with him about 5 months ago to catch up with him. Anyway if it's the same yak- he said he likes it just need a bilge pump and stay away from high winds.

Prepping for this season
Nice. Looking forward to Monday here in S. Texas. Going to Falcon- those bass should be in spawn mode. I plan on rage craws and jigs. Good luck. Hopefully you will need more lures after your trip.

Tracker pro 160 (first time buyer)
Sloan's advice is much more thorough and I would follow that. As far as horse power and trolling motor size- you should be able to finance both. the differences for both shouldn't be more than $4000. Not sure of your financial situation but if you can't afford the larger motor and trolling motor, I would wait. There is a lot more to owning a boat than a monthly payment.

What lure caught your largest bass in 2015 ?
Fish in my avatar. Thinking 7.5 lbs caught on a shaky head with a 5in senko

Kayak fishing for bass.
Canoe have higher sides catch more wind. Harder to maneuver by yourself. If you fish by yourself I feel kayak is a better option. Me and a friend fished in a canoe one day. We didn't talk to one another for 2 days after lol our rowing technique was pitiful lol

How many times have you lost a brand new lure first cast?
First time with an a-rig I was trolling it in my kayak in 15' FOW for hybrids and in my FF I see a nice tree. I think to myself oh that looks good and then it happens. I'm stuck. Fully rigged it's about $25. Well I got 40lbs braid I will try and get it out. No luck. I tried using my anchor to bounce it out. Nope. Well I got braid and a fancy custom rod, I will pull it out. Pop and pop. Why 2 pops you ask? Funny story. Not only do I lose my $25 lure, I broke my $250 rod. Several obscenities later I peddle away heart broken and ticked at the same time. Hard headed I went and bought another and spanked the hybrids the next day. You better believe I watched my FF like a hawk and reeled my line in if I saw anything that might steal my lure.

Another thing to consider is the hp of that model. Mercury Yamaha Suzuki etc etc all makes great motors but they also have "less than desired" for certain horse power. So choose an engine and research it. Again having no experience with motors I would get a 4 stroke. Looked at it. Definitely don't get the 20hp. I have a 16ft boat with a 90hp. What body of water do you plan on fishing and how many people? Do you plan to bass fish and use lures? For the fish finder I would also try and get the biggest screen possible if you plan to fish for bass with lures. Again I have a 5in screen on my kayak and although it's ok I think I may get a 7in screen. Makes a difference

Getting up on plane and going slow. If you're ok with slow and not worried about getting up quick I guess you're ok. Smaller motor usually means you will push the motor harder (high rpm) to go faster. This wears your motor and eats fuel. See what others think, but my first boat was rated for a 90 and I put a 70 on it and didn't like it. My second boat similar to my first has a 90 and performance is much better. My boat is a saltwater fishing shallow, so getting up quick is important
