  1. I haven’t laughed that much in a while!!! We deal with Cicada killers here. They are scary looking but not very aggressive. Sometimes people want us to treat for them anyway. I’ve stood in a yard full of their nests and them flying around, and they don’t seem to care that your there...
  2. Here’s another one...
  3. I love these...
  4. If I had one color I could use, that would be it.
  5. The majority of bass Ive caught over 5 pounds at ANY time was in less than 5 feet of water...
  6. Numbers : Smaller soft plastics. Bigger fish: Larger soft plastics The bait I have that consistently catches both are Zoom super flukes. So guess what I use the most?
  7. I fish through an area once. If I do well , I fish it again. If I don’t that time , I move on. Its that simple with me.
  8. I would have caught the fish eating the bass eggs and had a fry.
  9. I use the “ dead stick “ presentation more than any other kind with my soft plastics. My # 1 rule is , If I’m not catching fish, I’m fishing too fast. The slower I fish, the more I catch
  10. If I had a choice between Specks (crappie) and bream, Id take the bream. I have had some sunshine bass( Cross between striper and white bass) and i haven’t felt the urge to have it again. I love catfish also in fresh water. There at least a dozen fish I commonly eat from saltwater. My favorite overall is red snapper. A close second is Sheephead. We also eat a lot of flounder and redfish. Making me hungry. We are having some bass filets ( bass tastes good to me if it’s filleted.) and some whiting for our bi-weekly fish fry tomorrow. !
  11. Interesting post @Brian Parkerson, but look at the date of the first post. Hopefully he caught one by now!?
  12. I’m sure I’m a little slow, but I’ve read this twice and can’t see what this has to do with the post, or fishing for that matter. ??‍♂️ It’s probably just me.? In my area, watermelon shades work well :Watermelon seed on a cloudy day, watermelon red on a mostly sunny day, and watermelon slice in somewhat lower light conditions, like the hour before dark. Strangely, they won’t bite watermelon magic at all.. Houdini is great with bright sunshine... and Zooms golden bream. June bug is a good color too. I generally don’t do well with white or black. Pumpkin is ok but not as good as the watermelon colors.Grape produces well at times. I mostly fish a lake that varies between moderately stained to fairly clear. I use a variety of other colors and catch fish on them, but watermelons are always my top choice. I believe to a large degree, what you are confident in works best.
  13. If I go all day , I start with Coffee and a breakfast samwich. I usually take peanut butter nabs and a snicker bar. I usually get by with that unless my son brings me a samwich of some kind. Plenty of waters, and a cold Coke Zero for the ride home along with some peanuts. If It’s just a “ 3 hour trip “ or so I usually just take some sweet tea in a thermal type cup.
  14. Sorry about your daughters foot but how you going to let her swim out there with saw blades in the water?
  15. Good singers^^7
  16. Where I started was country, now it’s suburban. I doubt it will ever make it to metro, but it’s trying.?
  17. I once had a foreign guy ask me to see one of the speckled perch I had caught. I held it up and he asked could he hold it? I let him and he turned and walked away. I told him forcibly to bring it back. He didn’t. I decided it wasn’t a hill I’d fight for. Had plenty of fish anyway. Another time I went surf fishing at the beach. Before I could hardly get out of the truck, 2 homeless people ( A man and woman ) approached and of course, wanted money. As I talked with them, another man approached, went to the back of my truck and took one of my rod holders and started walking away. I couldn’t believe it at first, then I yelled for him to bring it back .!He kept on going. I quickly decided this was a hill I would fight for. ( No law in sight ) I started after him, but the woman yelled at him to bring it back . He immediately turned, came back , dropped it in the truck, and left. My point is , it sounds like yours is a hill to fight for . (the right way of course).
  18. @sfpalatka Thank you. I used to still hunt Ocala a lot. I’d love to go with you . I just want to get out there. Probably couldn’t afford a club - right now anyway. I wouldn’t want to get in the way of others in your group and would be satisfied just to go even if I dont get a shot. If you’re ever interested in coming up to the Jax area, I live on a great little bass lake!
  19. Still working but leaving later in the morning and getting home earlier. Below average checks these days but at least I’m still working. Having more time for home projects: • Sealed the leak in the chimney • Cleaned out my camping bin • Stocking up on emergency supplies • Replaced some rotten boards on the dock, and replaced a step on the dock. • Replaced a rotten board to keep crawl space closed off • Regular lawn maintenance • Got the head on my trolling motor securely in place so it would stop coming off • Cleaned out area to put garden in. • More stuff I can’t remember Been doing the grocery shopping too.( watching zombie like people in masks) I spoke to .several people today and nobody even spoke back in the store!! Fear is no reason to be unfriendly. Fried fish with the wife Saturday night, and Watching Longmire episodes with her. But the weirdest is having on- line church. Just isn’t the same. Done by 10 a.m . Plenty of time on my hands...
  20. Ha ha , that sounds like my son in laws family . N Florida southern accent.
  21. It was perfect weather for fishing here today. Wind 5-10, temps around 80, partly cloudy. Biting great! I fished from 430 or so to dark. Ended up with 35. Caught probably 2/3 of them on June bug speed worms, and the others on flukes. These were the best ones...caught on flukes. I’m hoping the bloody fish made it- he swam off.
  22. There are many many accents here now. Most people think the people that grew up in N Florida talk more like S. Georgia folks. And the further south in Florida you go, the more people talk like up north. Its kind of interesting to me. I know a East Tennessee accent when I hear it!
  23. As far as accents , mine is part Florida cracker, and part North Carolinian(parents), I reckon?
  24. Here’s what we did to offset the blues...
  25. Thanks @MN Fisher
