  1. A croaker head ? Still amazing. We catch them mostly on finger mullet , mud minnows, and big dead shrimp. We don't use lures much for them because the bait fishing is so good. In N. Florida they can be caught surf fishing in the fall esp.
  2. Soft plastics are the best imo. Flukes, senkos, ribbontail worms, trick worms , baby brush hogs for starters. All Texas rigged. Baymeadows park has been on and off for me and is much better from a boat.. But it holds some big fish. Got some other spots off Kernan Blvd and hodges blvd. The UNF ponds are pretty good too, except that you need a parking permit to park there.
  3. I may half a couple hours on Saturday. Have some work to do probably in the morning til I get through. I'll send you another message on Sat. When I know more. Baymeadows regional park has a small lake that's stocked and can be pretty good .Best with a small boat though. Its right in your area.
  4. Where do you live ? I know a few spots .?
  5. Some of the ponds in julington creek plantation are good. Any of them that have houses on them are stocked, and many of the ones that don't have houses have fish in them. I don't fish behind the houses, but on the sides with no houses. I haven't fished them lately, but the ones along Dewberry drive used to produce well. I fish zoom super flukes, ribbon tailed worms, and even crankbaits there.I texas rig them and use no weight with the flukes.I bet they would kill senkos there. The color you will have to experiment with. I used to use watermelon red or watermelon seed almost exclusively.
  6. I caught 300 + fish in a month several times the one year I kept records. But it was multi-species. If I remember correctly, I caught over 3000 fish that year. Im sure Ive caught 2-300 hundred bass per year the last 10 years or so.
  7. Im 57 and have some lower back pain but It doesn't slow me down much yet. Stretching does help if I make myself do it. My wife had more serious back issues, so we bought her an inversion table. Her condition rapidly improved . This is after the doc. approved it.
  8. A lazy man kills fish and doesn't eat them. I thin the bass herd every year so they don't overpopulate and so my home water doesn't become " Lake of the Dinks" , but every one of those fish will be eaten. My dad taught me if you kill it, you clean it and eat it. That's what makes me reluctant to throw back illegal sized fish that die accidentally, but I make that an exception.
  9. Nice ! They are some strong fish for sure. I've been around them all my life and never got one that big. Did you catch it on a swimbait? And on a pier? Man, that makes it even more difficult.
  10. Welcome from N Florida ! Some of the best bass fishing in the world where you are !
  11. My Grandaughter Mackayla holding up the stolen combo I recovered from the pawnshop.
  12. I left it out once. Took a friend's daughter fishing, but I didn't notice until she said something like "Are we sinking"?Although I was in a fairly narrow canal, I did a 180 and gunned it to hopefully run the water out and, to at least make it back to the ramp if it didnt. It just planed off enough so it didn't swamp, and we were able to bail the rest out at the ramp.
  13. Why in the world is that ? Never mind, just saw the response.
  14. I just hate what people do. It just wears me out the selfish choices some people make.
  15. Nice ! I haven't picked up any fish like that on the frog yet this summer.
  16. Got out for a few hours after 6 pm. Decided to fish close to home on the shallower end of the lake. Its been rather cool for July here so the fish were a little more active than they normally are on a July afternoon here.Caught 3 in the first hour, then caught 5 off one isolated eel grass bed in 20 minutes . Caught them all on watermelon red super flukes. All were around the same size. Nothing big this time. Tried the frog after dark for awhile, but nothing doing. But it was a nice, refreshing time on the water.
  17. I do a variation of that. When it's cloudy, watermelon seed seems to produce better in my home lake. when it's sunny, watermelon red is better. Lower light, June bug or black grape seems to be best.
  18. I love the color of that fish. Fairly clear water?
  19. I've already forgiven him, life is too short to waste... I'm going to talk to him about it. Hopefully he'll be humble and admit it, and offer to at least pay me the 16.00 back. But I'm not planning to demand it. There is a very small possibility it wasn't him but it was the same pawn shop my chainsaw ended up at at about the same time so.....
  20. Yeah, It's ongoing. He's been clean ( I think ) since he got out of jail for the chainsaw. We speak several times a week and he has to attend meetings as part of his sentence. It just bothers me that he never brought up the fishing pole. It went missing about the same time as the saw, but I didn't realize it.
  21. So My G-Daughter Mackayla and her friend beg me to take them to a local pawn shop to look at games they could buy. I haven't felt up to par all week , and tried to get out of it, but it's my G-daughter so guess who won ? So we get to the pawn shop, they head to the games, and I head to the fishing area. I'm looking for baitcasters but they don't have any. I almost walked away, but a small, ultralight spinning combo caught my eye. I've always loved them for bream fishing so I picked it up. Then I noticed it looked strangely familiar. It was MINE. It was the combo that went missing last year. I thought one of the kids had knocked it off the dock or something, but apparently it was less innocent than that. I told the shop owner and paid only 16.00 to bail it out.I had a chain saw stolen from a family " friend " last year and had to press charges to get it back, which I did after 5 months of the police holding it. I wasn't about to go through that again. Now I wondered how that combo got to that shop and how long it had set out there waiting for purchase.? Its been missing for almost a year ! I am a man of faith, so I'm thankful and blessed to get it back, and in such an amazing way, since it is my favorite bream combo.? It doesn't take a criminal justice degree to figure out who did it. The " friend " and the monkey on his back.?
