Life hacks- bank fishing edition
I use a hunting belt with several velcro and zippered pouches that hold everything I need. I can't stand carrying any kind of tackle box around, and backpacks aren't for me either . They hinder my casting and if you take them off its no different to me than a tacklebox. You still have to pick it up and carry it each time you move which is annoying to me. I usually carry one rod for the same reason. Occasionally two.

This lake will not beat me (again)!!!!!
Mine is a small lake we call Green hole with a 2 acre pond across the road between the water bodies. Its about 3 miles away from me and is stocked by fwc. The lake was even drawn down and refurbished by them and restocked about 10 years ago. The most I ever caught in one trip ( with my son along ) was 5, in the pond. In the lake, ( with a friend,) was 3-4. All one pound size. Most of the time, I catch 0 or maybe 1. Biggest fish caught there was a 3.5 pounder in the lake. Had a huge fish break off in the pond. You can fish slow, fast , all kind of methods and baits and never get bit. ( Not even on shiners ) I KNOW there are 10 + fish in it and I have seen huge bass beds in 8 feet of water.( back when it was somewhat clearer ) I think part of the problem is that it is one of the few water bodies that have murky water. My go to colors just don't work there. I have caught a few on blue worms there. You would think they would at least bite the shiners there but it's very slow with them too. Its very mysterious, esp. since its stocked and maintained by fwc.

How often do you fish?
I don't go very often all day anymore but I do several hour trips 3-4 times a month. I also often cast for 15-30 minutes off the bank behind the house or in ponds between work stops.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
The male copperhead bluegill are naturally darker than the females. The lake is fairly clear, but these are all dark ..The St Johns river bream are dark like that.I've fished Crystal clear ponds and lakes and they are very light colored there. My theory is my bream stay under cover most of the time, so they are darker.

Son's home lake hawg
Today my middle son came by early this morning and fixed our car while we went to late church. Got home in my truck and he had gone fishing out back and , before long, we saw him coming back. He had caught a big fish about 25 feet from where I caught my PB. His fish weighed 8.2 , and was slightly over 24 inch. He caught it on a watermelon seed zoom super fluke. It was an extremely heavy bodied fish, but the pics really don't do it justice.

Even though baseball was my first sport , I never could get my head around that ! I dont think anyone could have come close to the way Abbott and Costello did it. Already looking forward to attending some Florida Gator games. Reigning national champs !!!

L to R? or R to L?
I probably fish equally either way. Never thought about it. I skip a lot , either backhand or forehand , when I'm alone. When I'm with someone, I usually put them in front, so in that case I'd rather work right to left, esp. using bait casters. With spinning gear , it doesn't matter.

I made it out for an hour and a half before dark. The fish are bedding finally. Traditionally , the first batch of bedding fish on my lake relate mostly to wood bulkhead. Today was no exception. I used a 10 inch grape shad culprit to catch the first fish ( 3.11 ) against A wood b.head. A subtle presentation is best, so I either skip the worm into position, or cast to the bank and gently pull it in , which is how I caught the first fish. Fished other areas, including laydowns near the island, with no results. Caught the 2nd fish ( 2.8 ) near a dock and b.head, with some kind of black grape with green specks ribbon rail worm. Had to winch him out from around the dock pilings. Turned around and skipped the next cast into a nice pocket between the bulkhead and grass bed. The 3rd fish ( 3.14 ) Hit the same worm. Excited to see the fish up shallow !?

Favorite Westerns ?
Yeah, Tommie Lee Jones is one of my fav. Actors. That movie held my interest for sure. Kind of reminded me of terminator. No matter where that cowboy went with the money, he was tracked down. One of my fav. Westerns with TL Jones was the Good old boys , with Sissy spacek. Its about the fading cowboy lifestyle at the early 1900s.

Favorite Westerns ?
What's the movie with Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall. It's Robert Duvals' gang against some Mexicans. Clint Eastwood rides with them but turns to the Mexicans side. It's the one where he hits the guy with the shovel who thought he was so tuff. The Sackett TV Movies were all good too, with Tom selleck.

Topic questions for the BR vets
It's fine to resurrect old threads, isn't that why they are still there? It's also great to start a new one, and have veterans post pertinent old threads to illustrate a point. And we're here to learn and establish friendships . Even though I've bass fished a long time, I have weak areas that I'm trying to strengthen. Hopefully, fear of embarrassment won't stop anyone from growth.Ive found members to be helpful and not judgemental by and large.

Favorite Westerns ?
Mountainman83 Your name reminded me of Jeremiah Johnson , which is another of my favorites. My wife and me watched Once upon a time in the West and didn't like it at all. About half way through I attempted to bail out and quit, ( I never bail on westerns ) but my wife said that , since we already saw half of it , we might as well finish it. It had several heavyweight western actors but had really nothing to offer but endless dialogue and little to no action. No offence if it's one of your favorites , it even had high reviews . The things that appeal to me in a western are : Good people fighting against evil , authentic, realistic , and believable characters, Lots of action, with good dialogue , and beautiful scenery. I just didn't see any of that in that movie. Now, the Outlaw Josey Wales- whole different story.

Trolling motor power sources
I have a small schumaker battery charger. One problem is that it came without an instruction manuel. There are icons on the charger but I haven't been sure what they mean. I keep it on 12 volt and usually do the turtle setting which is a slow charge I reckon. The problem the last 6 months or so has been that the battery won't hold the charge . I charge it and if I let it sit without using it , the charge is lost. The last battery was an old one my son had for awhile so it may just be worn out. Had trouble with the last 2 new ones too though, like I stated before, only getting about 2 years out of them . And they were deep cycle , trolling motor batteries.
