  1. St Johns river has plenty of both, and a wide variety of others. Might as well move here. Shoot , everyone else has…
  2. Well, it IS in South Carolina now…
  3. This fish looks like the bad end of bad luck, but hey, it’s a fish… Caught it on a baby brush hog- watermelon red.

I love my cat but that’s still funny…
  5. Yeah, that’s bad here. People leave their vehicles unlocked a lot in this area . I have lots of customers that go get their credit card or checkbook out of their car. I would assume most of them aren’t from here. Lots of drugs here and the addicts walk around at night trying car doors…

Our cat is scared to death of the 2 dogs, a pit and chiwawa. The pit is very passive towards the cat, but the cat hides from it. ..the chiwawa is very playful because it’s still technically a puppy, but the cat’s not having it either… The dogs continually eat all the cat’s food on the trip in and out to P and P . They got into one of my garbage bags and a old pillow this week that someone left out there to get thrown away… The chiwawa gets into a barking match with the “ bumpus dogs” acrost our canal. The pit could care less. The “bumpus” dogs are the same ones that the nieghbors usually let out about the time I go out to fish each time. Their leader is a vociferous Beagle…?
  7. To be honest I did clean out a bream bed on his property line. ?
  8. Right after that I thought about sneaking back to catch all the bream at his dock but decided that wasnt a good option. Somebody’s got to be the adult… I still go by his dock regularly( the incident happened 10 years or so ago ), and have never once seen any grandkids there.
  9. Let me re-phrase. I would have had LESS of a problem with it. But Ive got to the point now that I’m not going to let something like that ruin my day. Got plenty of spots to fish besides that one…
  10. Ive only had a few incidents. The one that got me fired up the most was the homeowner down the lake that told me forcefully to leave because his “ grandaughter” fishes there. I was puzzled thinking , what does that have to do with me? I would have had words with him had I not had my best friends teenage son fishing with me. You ever get so angry you just keep your mouth shut? Because you know what you say is not going to improve the situation? That was where I was. If he had asked nicely, I wouldn’t have had a problem with it. So I never said a word, just left , and him still running his mouth.
  11. I had a aquaintance that slipped into the same course at night and was frog giging. He had a sack full and someone called the law. He ditched the sack of frogs and ran and hid in a thicket until the coast was clear.. then he retrieved the frogs and walked the half mile or so home…?
  12. We’re getting gusts to 55 and moderate to heavy continuous rain in this area. They predict serious beach erosion and flooding, esp. in st Augustine. I lost cable service before bed last night. Suprised we still have power. The lake is up , but so far, not way up. It was real bad in SW Florida from all I’ve heard. Keep @Mike L esp. in your thoughts and prayers. He’s in that area.
  13. I was cast netting shiners once in one, and caught a 5 pound bass!! The security guard came up about that time and said I had to let it go…which I already was going to do. It was the most color less bass I ever saw. Went to the same pond at night to try out the catfishing. I caught turtles, freshwater eels, gars and a mudfish, If I remember correctly. But no catfish…
  14. Some of y’all will shake your heads at this , but it’s my 25 year old or so 6.6 medium Ugly stik. Ive caught more bass on it than any other. All I’ve done to it is put one new guide on it and super glue the tip down on it because it was loose. They truly are durable rods. It wouldnt be too much of a sacrifice even for me because they are only around 40 bucks…
  15. I’m in bed by 10-11 most nights and up by 6. Im up all night friday night doing my security gig. Then I’m in bed by 9 a.m saturday morning. Sleep til noon or so. Saturday night I’m in bed by 9:30. A few times a year I fish all day saturday after being up all night the night before. I let someone else drive on those days…
  16. Those things are nearly on every house here. I’ve actually got a call tomorrow for them… I’ve been stung by Wasps, yellow jackets , hornets, deer flies , stinging black flies, yellow flies, fire ants, bit by a snake, bit by dogs, bit by turtles , bit by a spider, ticks, and ALMOST got stung by a scorpion… so yes , I’ve had some experience with that…?
  17. Maybe the worse part will miss . Praying for y’all.
  18. So around where Charlie went through?
  19. Calm and beauty before the storm…
  20. Where exactly are you again ? I know you told me when Irma or Matthew was going by…
  21. I’ve been outside getting everything put up or pulled under. We’re supposed to get some ocean and river surge up here. My biggest concern is that our creek/ditch coming out of our lake will be able to process all the rain as the lake gets high and spills out into it. It got way up with Matthew but we are up probably 7 feet at least above the lake including the crawl space. In Matthew it made it almost level with the top of our “hill” but still had 25 feet or so to get to the house. Hoping it will at least wash the dadgum otter out that’s eating our fish !! Wish ful thinking I know… Another concern is always the spin off tornadoes. We had one last year that missed us by app. 1/4 mile. And hopefully the ongoing saga of my roof leaking won’t be too much of a problem. Hopefully the tarps dont blow away … Ive had a lot of near misses in my lifetime here but only one direct hit which was Dora in ‘64. I was 4 years old and remember the howling 90+ winds, and blinding rain. It tore jax and st augustine up! Well, praying for everyone, esp. further south. Give us updates as the storm passes y’all!! Very thoughtful of you. Thanks!
  22. These are my 2 favorites…
  23. I know it would be hard to track but have any of you ever known of a case where someone died from it and knew it? Florida used to say about some waters that they recommended not eating bass with high mercury content more than once a week, except expectant mothers or kids. Ive known a lot of fish eaters ( including me) , but Ive never met one that ate fish that often. I eat a lot of saltwater fish when I have time to catch some but Im not worried about our occasional fish fry of smaller size bass…
  24. Lately, an hour. In the past , pushing 2 hours max. There is so much fishable water between 1-2 hours away I could fish a different one every week and not run out for many years…
