  1. Anything to help your chances I guess eh.
  2. I was having the same problem at a local bass pond that I fish. I don't know what the water conditions are like there both if there a little merky like mine then I'd try a bright yellow 4" action tail worm. I was only catching about 2-3 when I was going there before then I started using those worms and I was pulling between 15-20 out including some nice 3 and 4 pounders.
  3. No not my eye the fishes eye. I'm just wondering what is the best way to handle the situation when you happen to hook a bass in the eye or anywhere around the eye that could damage its eyesite. I was bass fishing lastnight and my buddy hooked one directly under the eye but still in the eye socket. I took it out as best I could but didn't as far as I could tell damage the actual eyeball itself. The only damage was some of the skin in the socket but it wasn't anything to bad. Anyway let me know what the best way of handling this situation is for the fish's sake.

As you can probably tell I am looking for a career in fisheries. I have been researching the salaries for these jobs but can't seem to find any solid information. If anyone has any info about fishing jobs such as working for a fishery, lure rep, and any others and the salaries of these jobs as well as obtaining them then please let me know or let me know a website that might help me. Thanks.
  5. How does someone go out and find a career in fisheries, lure rep...ect.
  6. Well we all know that when the wind is from the east the fish bite the least. The advantage to having some wind is that it moves around the baitfish because of the current which then makes the bass more active.
  7. Well your little bass are probably gone with those cats a pike in there.
  8. I am definatley an u unconventional fisher. I don't believe that just because some baits are good for certain things that there not going to work in another. I rarely use anything but worms no matter where I am and I always seem to pull out more fish then my buddies.
  9. I'm just wondering what some fishing oriented careers are.
  10. I find that tubes are a really good bait for smallies, pumpkinseed colour is the best I've seen. Also YUM worms if anykind are excellent. If your not really a big worm fisherman I think you mentioned the watter was clear so I'd try some tiny halographic crankbaits.
  11. Both ways work well. I like to slowly retrieve it just above the bottom and the odd time let it touch. It seems to work pretty well because it looks like an injured worm.
  12. Depending how deep that diving minnow goes down then you could try it. The rattling one would be good to attract fishes attention, I don't know what type of lure it is but if it's a crankbait then try that with a slow retrieve. You could also work your spinner around the weeds. Whatever you choose make sure you have a very slow retrieve as the big bass are lazy.
  13. Smallmouth are by far my favourite fish to catch. There nice looking, great fighters, and are just plain fun.
  14. I feel pretty lucky to live in Canada!
  15. Maybe it's not the colour that attracts them but the movement, noise, and patterns on the lure. I'm colourblind with a few colours myself so I guess I can relate to a fish !
  16. Make sure you have a slow retrieve when going for the big ones, and try to mimmick a wounded baitfish because the big bass are lazy hunters and only go for the easy kill.
  17. There are some humands that sleep with there eyes open to.
  18. I catch pike and smallies in the same area a lot. You would assume that if you catch a pike in an area you wouldn't get a smallie because pike are pretty teritorial and aggressive fish but the biggest smallies I have caught and seen are those in the same area that I've seen pike. This may be because the pike can't scare away the big bass who knows. One time my friend pulled out a pike and then 10 seconds later my other friend hooks on to an 8 pound smallie, unfortunatley it spit the hook but it did give us a good show!
  19. Since the fish will be less active you might want to slow down your retrieve a bit because they might be to lazy to hit something they have to work hard for.
  20. Bigger lakes don't mean bigger bass. It all depends on the living conditions and food available.
  21. Depends on whats available. I like all the areas I fish so it really depends on where were goin!
  22. Judt throw something out there you usually wouldn't. And don't give up!
  23. Me and a group of buddies usually all go together.
  24. thanks for the tips im trying to get better at worm fishing
  25. throw a weedless topwater out there or keep trying your luck with a texas rig
