  1. Well, I can tell you how to catch big smallies atleast the way it's worked best for me this year. I just throw on a glow in the dark jig with a scented plastic worm and let it sink down just to the top of the weeds and reel in slowly, i've bin catching mostly around 5lbs smallmouths with this technique i use when it's hot.
  2. Ponds are fun every once and a while but i like the lakes more. Sometimes me and my buddies fish a private pond that is stalked with largemouth and pull 30-40 bass out usually. I find that ponds are a good way to try something out but aren't enough of a challenge and can make you a lazy and spoiled fisherman.
  3. I would try a pop-r or a texas rig because it doesnt collect weeds.
  4. question#1 I would have thrown a crankbait out there with a slow retrieve because if it was that big of a bass it wouldn't be that eager to hit anything to hard to get if it just went for something on the top. question#2 I would have thrown a topwater past the action because it seemed like the fish were going crazy for something on the top, if that didn't work i would have thrown a crankbait far passed and brought it in with a medium speed retrieve.
  5. I'm sure when you bring in that huge bass you've bin looking for it will outway all the stupidity you felt for the missed hooksets, and its not that big of a deal anyway, its all part of the fun!
  6. During the hot days bass will go deeper during the day, especially smallmouth. If you fish when the sun is hot then i'd fish deeper water during the day for sure. From my experience the clearer the water your fishing on the hot days the bass will be deeper, if its really merky water look for suspended bass.
  7. I havent bin skunked this year yet when ive bin only bass fishing.
  8. Ok thanks Tom.

  10. I rarely use anything but a 1/8 ounce. I catch tons of smallmouth with those jigs.
  11. I'm just wondering if someone could tell me when you're supposed to set the hook when your using jigs because I have lost tons of fish when i set the hook as soon as I feel them.
  12. I was just wondering if there's any Canadians here and if you've fished the ottawa river.
  13. If there's one thing I've learned while bass fishing it's that the big ones are the slow ones. There always hanging out in some sort of cover waiting for an injured meal to come along. If I were you I'd toss a frog out by some rocks or weedbeds and just let it sit there for a while.
  14. I was wondering if there's any specific time while your reeling in your lure that the bast strike the most?
  15. Fish do feel pain but not like us. It isn't the pain like we feel that hurts it's more like uncomfortable.
  16. You need to consider the amount of bass in each water body. I've only pulled those numbers out when i've fished ponds, a good day for me on the river is 6-8 bass. If you're wondering the normal amount of bass caught on the water body you fish then you should talk to somebody else that fishes it.
