do you want to pour your own lead heads? If so you will need the following. If you don't want to mess with the lead pouring there are several guys on the forum that can sell you pre poured jig heads 1. Lots of money you would other wise need ;D 2. Lead head molds of jigs you want to make 3. Lead Melting Pot, I reccommend a bottom pour they are much easier to use 4. Hooks for your lead mold 5. Paint, I prefer powder paint 6. Material for jig skirt, this depends on the type of jig you want to make, silicone skirts, buck tail for hair jigs, flashabou for tinsel jigs the possibilities are endless here are a few great tackle making sites www.do-itmolds.com www.barlowstackle.com www.jannsnetcraft.com www.staminainc.com www.fishingskirts.com I am sure I am leaving out a ton of stuff but these are the basics Harshman
  2. Nice Upgrade, that to is my dream boat Harshman
  3. No need for the Ark, God will not destroy the earth by those means ever again, we are reminded of this every time we see a rainbow. Harshman
  4. Braid is all I use on topwater, I have not seen any negative affects on the bait. IMO I think the line floating helps some baits react better since they don't have to push the line through the water. Plus you get a better hook up with little to no line stretch on the hook set. I would also reccommend a high speed reel for any top water baits if you can. A 7 to 1 can really help you catch up to those fish you run up behind a bait and make a run to the boat. Harshman
  5. Sounds to me like you got your timing flap shaft is linked to your fuel spark cutter, which means you'll have to back off the ball house gear to make the flow valve whirler match the bell head cover Or You have a fuel flow problem, probably a dirty carburetor Harshman
  6. I would definatly mount it on your boat somewhere... ;D ;D ;D Sorry I couldn't resist But seriously, mount it in your battery/tank compartment. This will more than likely keep it easily accessable and out of the elements. As a extra precaution though I prop my compartment lid open while chargeing if it is in a safe location to help with any venting issues that may arise, but typically if you don't there are no issues. 10. Safety glasses worked like they were supposed to and as far as a lid...it's in the garage somewhere.I had it on the pot at the time and it was the first thing to go airborne. This is one lesson about lead that I will not soon forget. Harshman

Just wanted to send out a warning to you guys who pour your own lead. While pouring in my garage today I was melting down a few old sinker weights a friend had given me when my 20 lb lead pot decided to blow up. I added a weight to the pot and I can only assume that it had something in it or wrong with it. All I know is I heard a small sizzling noise like eggs frying and then boom. I had a 4' radius of lead splatter around my pot. Luckily I was standing while putting lead into the pot so I was able to step away, not before ruining my jacket and my shirt. I only ended up with two burns, one on my hand and one just below my eye about the size of a match head. The only thing I can guess is the weight had a void in it full of water that expanded very quickly when I dropped it in the pot. I guess that will teach me to really inspect my material before I melt it or only buy lead and not try recycling myself. Harshman
  12. I got all night folks, here are my favs I don't think the heavy stuff is going to come down for a while....Id play on through. YOU'LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT Cinderella Story, out of no where,He's on his final hole. He's about 455 yards away, he's gonna hit about a 2 iron I think. .....it's in the hole A flute without holes, is not a flute. A donut without a hole, is a Danish. Remember Danny - Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left. I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them. Harshman

  14. Sufix is the better of the two IMO, but like the others if this in going on a bait caster I would go at least 30# Harshman
  15. I just bought the 7'11" flippin stick and so far I absolutely love it for what I spent on it. Seems to be very balanced with my BPS Johnny Morris on it. Harshman
  16. I'm partial to a jig and a big trailer of some sort, but I'm not stupid enough to keep throwing it if I'm not getting bit, which is usually when I'll switch over to a beaver or a chigger craw Harshman
  17. Looks like a great alternative, let us know how the building process goes. I am particularly intreseted to see if there are any changes you have to make in the powder paint process. How much of a price difference do you think will be in a jigs of this material? Thanks Harshman
  18. hope you have a good push pole if you plan on going much skinner that 12" TM's don't like pushing mud and rocks ;D ;D Harshman
  19. my boat is on just a small utility trailer, slightly modified. i have a bow roller and winch on the front of the trailer, carpeted 2x4 side bunks to center the boat on the trailer and a plastic bed liner floor to make the boat slide on and off easier. All done after these photos were taken, if you'd like I can get new ones. Harshman
