  1. This year, I have the honor and pleasure of participating in MDA's Lock Up-OFALLON to help "Jerry's Kids®". To reach my goal I need your help! Your donation would help MDA continue the important fight against muscular dystrophy. Check out my web page by clicking on the link below. There you'll find all kinds of information about MDA, and be able to make your tax-deductible donation on-line using your credit card. MDA serves people in our community with neuromuscular disease by providing clinics, support groups, assistance with the purchase and repair of wheelchairs, braces and communication devices, and summer camp for kids. MDA also funds research grants to help find treatments and cures for some 43 neuromuscular diseases that affect people of all ages, right here in our community. I sincerely hope that you'll take the opportunity to support MDA. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. jharshman@vantagehomes.com On behalf of the families MDA serves, thank you! 2. Are there any differences in line wt or diameter between the two? One more suited for bigger line that the other?
  3. I am curious what the advantages are of using larger "round" baitcasters as opposed to low profile. I use low profile reels only, wondering when I would use the larger ones. thanks Jason
  4. Personally I have about a 50/50 mis of lefty and rightys . i find that in flipping situations that a lefty helps, not having to switch hands before reeling, for those instanious bites when the bait hits the water. As for other situations i found that switching helps fatigue. my .02 Jason
  5. check out this month's issue of BASSMASTERS Magizine they have a low budget storage rack that is very simple to build.
  6. It doesn't matter how well you swim if you slip out of the boat and crack your head. Best money i ever spent was on one of those self inflating life vests fron Bass Pro. It is light enough to wear all day long and won't get in your way , unless it inflates which is a good thing when it does. Already had it "save" me once from a slippery courtesy ramp. It was like a rocket went off as it inflated, can't remember if i sioled myself from the fall or from the jacket. Morale of the story wear a PFD of some sort, somebody out there wants you to come back safe from every trip out. My .02 Jason
  7. Another place to check for clubs is www.midamericaoutdoors.com It is also a great all around information site for fishing and hunting. Good Luck
  8. I have a 89' charger 186 Foxfire with a Evin 150. Under normal load and lake conditions she'll run 61-62 mph (GPS) I never made a connection with my speed falling off until I read this post. I got into a habit of waxing my boat every after every 4th or 5th outing and noticed my speed dropped off by about 4-5 mph every time back on the water after the fresh waxing. But then after running the boat a couple times my speed came right back. Finally something to blame. I never could figure out what the heck was going on. I think I will start waxing a little higher in the hull and see if I can keep the scum line off but not to get where the boat rides under power. Thanks Guys for the eye opener.
  9. Some Motels even offer parking with locations to plug in your rig. Something to look for when booking a room
  10. It depends how big your baits are. Some baits sit fine and turn upright with just hooks mounted on the bottom of the bait. This usually works on small slinder "Zara Spook" like baits. On heavier baits or baits with wide bodies and narrow "tail" sections you might want to add a very small amount of lead to turn the bait upright when you cast it. Drill out the body in the area you wish to mount a hook and add a small amount of lead. If done right you can use a hook mount to cover the lead spot so that it can't be seen. Experiment with the size of bait and amount of lead. Carefull not to add to much or the bait might sink. I'll post some step by step pics of how i add lead to my baits if you like. Remember practice makes perfect. As far as colors either get creative or mimic stuff that is already on the market. Once again experiment, remeber though most of the bait that will be seen by the fish is the bottom so spend your time there, the fish won't care if you like the way the bait looks when you see it. Good Luck
  11. If you're gonna spend the money buy the H2OC for the color screen. A little extra money goes a long way here. I have the H20C and a buddy has the H20 and there is no comparison. The black/white screen is difficult to read sometimes in direct sun light. Plus I found a web site where you can get a H2OC for $218 right now. http://www.tigergps.com/lowranceifinderh2oc.html They also have all the accessories you need including map cards. As far as they go you have a few options. Lowrance makes there own with HOT SPOTS maps co. and they are broke up into sections and if you are lkike me and fish lakes that are in different sections you will be shelling out alot of extra dough for extra cards. However there is a co. called NAVTRONICS that makes a card that included all of the USA with most of the major lakes in HOT SPOTS format. Check out there respective websites for what best fits your situation. Hope this helps.
  12. I have gotten into pouring my own lead spinner baits. I can't believe how addicting it is. With all of the worries with lead i was wondering if anybody knew if tungsten was as easy to work with or if it is even available. If so where can I get it Thanks Jason
  13. I have a 1989 Charger boat w/ 150 Evinrude. It is more of a fish/ski style boat . I have room for rod storage in one of the front compartments. My problem is I can't find any rod tubes for it. Does anyone know where I can get these or has anyone ever built there own. I'm pretty handy and have thought of making my own out of PCV piping. Any suggestions would be great :-? :-? Jason
