Anybody use a Berkley Bionix Rod?
My local Wal-Mart just started their seasonal clearance on their fishing dept. and I picked up a Berkley Bionix 7' Med. action crankbait fiberglass casting rod for $10.It was originally marked $70. It seems like a well built rod and I was wondering if anybody out there has used such a rod. Any positive or negative comments? I also picked up a Berkley Bionix Spinning rod that is almost identical to the casting rod same action, length, and price. I was also looking at a Daiwa "Team Daiwa" spinning rod in a 6'6" with a Med. Heavy action. they have these marked the same price as the casting rod I bought. Any thoughts on the Daiwa rod? Harshman

Poison Tail Jig...help
I usually set my lead pot which I think is very similar to yours on at least 8 if not nine when I pour anything and let it warm up at least 10-5 minutes after the lead has returned to liquid form. That way you can be sure the lead stays hot long enough to reach all the areas inside the mold cavity. I also have to agree with GMAN on pouring wuth base pins ilo weed guards in place. It sure makes it alot easier to paint even though you are adding a step to the process it is worth it.

Poison Tail Jig...help
Are you pouring a couple with out hooks and weed guards first to warm the mold? Are you able to center the mold under the spout? What temp is your lead pot set at? (the hotter the better while pouring) Have you tried smolting the mold? ( use a non-scented candle and hold the mold cavity directly above the candle and allow the soot from the flame to collect in the cavity leaving a black film. this will allow the lead to move easier throughout the mold and make removal of the jig a little easier. This will not disclolor the jig like you might think it would.) Try these out and if they don't help pm me and I we'll figure out just what is going wrong. Harshman

Here's a link to the Johnny http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=58373&hvarTarget=search&hvarAID=&cmCat=3400402 and here's a review I wrote back in july Product Reviews Review This Product Choose a sort order Date - Newest First Date - Oldest First Rating - High to Low Rating - Low to High Helpfulness - High to Low Helpfulness - Low to High Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 Johnny Morris Baitcaster Review, July 11, 2006 By Harshman from Troy, Missouri (read all my reviews) "I recently purschased one of these reels and haven't been able to put it down since. It has become my "work horse" in my rod and reel collection. I wish I could own a dozen of these reels. I was so impressed that my wife's first baitcaster purschase was a Johnny Morris. The braking system and smooth casting ability made it a perfect reel to teach a beginer versatile enough to fish any of the circumstances that I can throw it into. Keep up the great work. Thank you "Harshman" What is your favorite type of fishing?: Freshwater How many times a month do you fish on average?: 5+ Do you own a boat?: Yes Harshman

another reel
The Abu 4600 isn't quite a low profile is it :-? :-? I suggest BPS Johnny Morris BC it has been one of the best bc I've owned in that price range and BPS has a great warranty po;icy if you have problems Simply take it back to the store within 1 yr and they give you a new one no shipping no questions asked. And if I'm no mistaken they are on sale right now for around $119 Harshman

what holds your tackle?..
I use BPS Taclke Backpack with tons of storage as well as a couple large soft double sided BPS binders one for soft baits and one for jigs and trailers. Then once I get in the boat the stuff is stashed everywhere I can fit it I personally like the backpack due to the fact some of the local ponds I fish have a little bit of a walk from where I have to park the tackle tow vehicle. what do you tow and with what???
Truck: '05 Chevy 1500 WT V6 auto trans with tow package Boat: 1989 Charger 18' 6"fish/ski with a 98' Evin 150 on her The truck seems to handle well but the motor could have a few more ponies to make it better Harshman

Frogs?
My vote is for the bronzeye, i started fishing them this year and absolutely love them. Nothing to rig up like the zoom just tie on and fish. Harshman

my complaint about the spro bronze eye frog
I agree that it might be something wrong with your gear setup. I can cast a bronzeye a country mile on a 7'6 flippin rod with 30lb test and a Daiwa Tournament Procaster. I love these frogs. The only reason I use heavy braid is due to most of the places I fish it it's not the fish i'm worried about it is the 30lbs of moss and crap i have to reel in when the fish misses the bait and submerges it though the salad. check it out (world record grizzly)
If memory serves me correctly this is a altered picture. I surfaced several years ago and was researched to b an urban legend. When it first came on the scene it had pictures of a mangled body along with it that were claimed to be inside the bear when they gutted it. Harshman

Cajun Redcast Line
I've had nothing but problems with Cajun Red. It has some of the worst memory I have used yet. I personally started having trouble on back lashes when the line would bind it would snap into so when I finally got the lash out I had to either retie or swithch rods beacuse there wouldn't be enough line to continue without respooling. I too agree that it's only shining point is backing. I've switched all my poles to suffix mono and braid and I love the stuff espically the braid. Harshman

making lures out of cork?
I guess you could make something that would resemble a popper out of a wine bottle cork. Maybe add some rubber legs or wings for effect? My wife makes traditional poppers out of foam on a smaller scale, so I don't see why this couldn't work. Keep us posted on what you come up with. Harshman
