bass hunter type pond boats - trailers?
I use a small utility trainer to haul my small 10.2 BassHound. It hangs off the back a little but makes loading and unlaoding a little easier. Just make sure you keep the bulk of your weight forward on the trailer to make it pull better, mine likes to wander if I don't Harshman

Shakey head jig
Another way yo get rid of the collar is to slide a rubber skirt collar around the hook while you pour it and slide it up to where you want the collar of lead to stop. The rubber is reuseable and you don't have to alter your mold. Harshman

Shakey head jig
It would be worth a try. I make jigs heads with the hitch hiker molded into them and haven't any trouble with the bait getting in the way of the hookset. Harshman

Jigheads for grass?
I make a ball jig in a 60 degree bend but have yet to try to make one like the spot stalker. I think GMAN makes a shaky head with a poison tail jig mold that works well in grass. Harshman

Wire tie a jig skirt???
I do some wire ties on finesse jigs. Get you some ultra fine wire( I got mine at BPS) pull out a strand about 7-8 inches long, while holding one end stationary wrap the other end around the jig snug but not tight enough to cut through the silicone. It usually takes me 3-4 wraps to get something I am comfortable with. then simply twist the two together and cut approx. 1/8 inch from bait. I have yet to have one slip or come undone. If this makes no sense pm me and I'll gladly walk you through it over the phone Harshman

Worth it or not?
Look for the usual wear and tear... If the prop seems wobbly when it spins or has been ran through a shredder it may have been abused. Also look at all of the screws and bolts to see if they appear ever to be removed for repairs. In my experience a motor that has been taken care of and not over used will last as long as you want it to. make sure he will let you hook it up to a battery and turn it on, run it through the speeds and feel for vibrations. Some vibrations could be a minor prop repair but most are things to stay away from. Just my 2 cents worth Harshman

I did see the lips for those on Stamina or Netcraft...or one of the many tackle making companies. I'll search and repost them when I find them. It would seem to be an easy bait to make if you have the lips. Harshman

Ramp courtesy
I would also add don't butt in line if you are heading to the ramp. If you see someone sitting in their truck with an empty trailer in line that doesn't give you the right to launch before they get their boat. I had this experience this weekend at the BR tourney at Lake Little Dixie in MO. I was retieving my little BassHound and a jerk with a Skeeter drove around me and looked at me like I was stupid for blocking him to launch his big boat...needless to say after a few choice words about courtesy I got to get my boat out of the water in the order it should have been. zara spook
I've made something like the Zara Spook and used a lathe to get my initial shape even used a spook to copy, my lathe has a copy cat feature to reproudce shapes. Then followed normal painting procedures . I also added a small plug of lead under a hook hanger to make the bait walk and stay upright. Here are some pics. Bait works very well, I have even inserted tube rattles into the body then filled holes with epoxy before painting.

Question about charging trolling batteries
The battery I bought was indeed a starting/deep cycle/RV battery so I am guessing that it needs to be returned for a true Deep Cycle battery. Stratosdadri you were dead on inreading what I had put down. I will use your testing method in the future when I want to check the battery. Thank You all for the advice Harshman

Question about charging trolling batteries
The charger I have is brand new with an automatic shut off. I'll recheck the battery when I get home but I'm positive I got a 29 series Beep Cycle battery, It is a great big battery compared to most starting batteries I have seen it is about 2-3 inches longer. Could be a starter though I guess, now you have me second guessing myself. That would explain the short run time however. Shouldn't a deep cycle battery be able to run this sixe of trolling motor for more than 3 hrs, with avarage use not full blast all the time??? Harshman

Question about charging trolling batteries
I have a couple small questions about charging my trolling motor battery in my small boat. I recently bought the MAXX Everstart 29 series Deep Cycle battery from Wal-Mart and was wondering what the best setting on my charger is to charge a battery like this after I drain it. 2 amp, 4 amp or 6 amp? My other question is after running my trolling motor ( A Minn Kota 27#) a few hours when I hook up my charger it apears amlost fully drained, should I be getting more life out of a battery like this? Was my mistake buying a battery from Wal-Mart? Thanks ahead of time Harshman

Portable GPS
I have a Lowrance H2OC handheld unit and I would highly recommend it. I didn't want to spend alot to have GPS on my boat and this model fit the bill perfectly. Easy to use and capable of adding a SD card filled with lakes or preloaded information of your choosing if you have the right software on your PC. The unit cost $269 and I was able to get a cradle for it for abour $50. I purchased a HOT SPOTS USA map with it for $100 and it does everything I could ever need in a GPS. The large color screen is easy to read under any lighting conditions. I would highly recommend that what ever unit you decide on get a color screen, they are much easier to read. Besides how many black and white tv's do you see any more, color is the way to go. Harshman
