  1. Hope everything is ok Cart. Harshman
  2. They are only a necessity when there is a frog bite on..........which means YES It is my go to top water bait now. here's a little tip on the ribbits before you throw a new bait stretch the legs slightly and make one a little longer than the other. they bait will "buzz" a ton more and even walk a little the the legs being different lengths. A friend and I have frogs only competitions on my grandpa's lake all the time they are such great baits when fishing grass. My PB came on a SPRO frog 2 years ago and from then on I have always had at least one frog tied on a rod at all times. harshman
  3. Needemp sorry to hear you can't make it, I was really hoping to see a good 1...2 showing for Team HCB. I can't hardly sit still at work I'm so ready to fish tomorrow....... Harshman
  4. I can't even imagine such a happy time it would be for the fishing community if gas drops back below $2.00 I hope you are right RW Harshman
  5. Flipping stick with a jig flipping stick with a soft plastic Spinner bait Rod Crank bait Rod Frog/ Swimbait Rod Chatterbait Rod Spinning Rod for Finesse Baits Harshman
  6. I don't use cruise control personally because I do think it is harder for the truck to maintain a certain speed than it is for you to maintain a stead rpm level. if you can control all the shifting your truck does it will be easier on the transmission IMO....but i guess it really depends on the boat. if you have a light weight jon boat then it is probally okay to run cruise, but if you have a large fiberglass bass boat it is probally easier on the truck not to run it. harshman
  7. I like that idea if I weren't already sunburned from being on Twain last Sunday......... short hair + black visor + dark hair = painful scalp......... and the darn sun didn't come out to play until 3 hours before the tourney ended. I would like to see a dollar added to the pot for the pair fishing out of the smallest boat Harshman
  8. can't go wrong with Uncle josh pork ....... I've even seen studies where fish will not eat crawdads that have their pinchers raised in a defensive mode and will wait them out till the craw drops them...makes you wonder about the floating pinchers on the trailers. I have seen an increase in bites using trailers that don't float as well. harshman
  9. try an add a hitch hiker to the eye of your hook to keep from having to put the whole hook through or find a hook with some sort of peg on it to attach the bait... I got some I think are from lake Fork tackle that work perfect found them at Wal-Mart. it uses a 30 degree EWG hook like most of my jig have but it has a peg ti stick in the bait and weight added to the bend of the hook Harshman
  10. Today was horrible on Twain.....55 boats in a tourney and only 7 caught fish....only one limit.....I do however think that the lake will turn on this week, main lake near the dam was in the upper 50's and I even found water in the mid 60's in the afternoon. I only managed 3 dinks that were all up on the bank in the newly flooded grass. 1 on a jig, one on a chigger craw and one on a spinner bait......some pattern huh. Harshman
  11. I know a certain bait maker that takes the time to clean out every jig eye that I they make.......no jig buster needed here Harshman
  12. It woke me up and then I went right back to sleep ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Not my wife though....now we are looking into earthquake insurance to add to our homeowners policy. > : > : Harshman
  13. that looks sweet. harshman
  14. Heading up there this weekend and was wondering if anyone has been up there yet? I know the level is up about 7' above normal and water temps from 46-55. Any help would make the weekend much more enjoyable. Harshman

  16. Those look great...thanks for the tip. I already enjoy fishing the furbit. Harshman
  17. I second the reel butter that Ardent makes their reel oil is great as well. Harshman
  18. Might take a little time but couldn't a guy solder the gap shut? Or would heating up the hook a little compromise the strength? Couldn't be any worse than pouring melted lead around a hook. Heck maybe I just thought of another bait to sell......custom hooks...... ;D ;D ;D ;D Harshman

Welcome, it always nice to see how others do things to help improve on what we all enjoy. Harshman
  21. Great looking work...I admire you guys that make rods. It takes a lot more patience than this jig maker has. Harshman
  22. I am going to try and shape the cork a little better, I was excited to get that far without destroying an otherwise decent rod. looking back the conversion was way easier than I thought it would be Harshman
  23. Here is a pic of my first split grip conversion. I used a 7' MH Bass Pro Extreme rod and it turned out alot better than I thought. THis was much easier than I thought going in but it was time consuming if you do it right. I also trimmed down the reel set threads to be only hat is used. Here is a "before and after" shot with a rod I have yet to convert. Harshman
  24. Here's my advice....Fish a different lake ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Seriously that lake is messed up. the spinner bait bite is on like mentioned above. I also caught a few on finesse jigs around docks with pea gravel banks last weekend. Harshman
