Clearance Crucials
That's because that's not clearance. The sign will say, albeit in small print, that clearance items end with .97 or .47 cent endings. The Mojos at 109.99 might have a red sticker on them but if it doesn't have that clearance .97 or .47 cent ending then it means something else.

Wow.... Great Deals At Dick's
the 50% off clearance is only on line, lures, and terminal. rods, reels, and combos are 25% off. also, make sure the red tags have .97 or .47 cent endings. Red tags are used for a few different things. If it has a red tag and ends with .99, it ain't clearance. If what you saw was .97 or .47, go back and take it to the register and have them ring it up to tell you the price.

Clearance Crucials
Did they scan the Crucials at the register? It's possible they don't have the Crucials marked but they should be clearance priced nationwide, although there are always a few exceptions. As for the Lexa, have them scan it, if it ends with .97 cent ending then they should sell the display. Ask for a manager if you need to. They may not give you an extra discount besides the clearance promotion but they should sell it to you.

Where are you hearing this?

Wow.... Great Deals At Dick's
Rods, reels, and combos should be 25% off their clearance prices. That's only clearance items that, as previously stated, end with .47 or .97 cent endings. I believe line, terminal, and lures are 50% off clearance prices. I bought a spool of Seaguar Invizx for less than $9 yesterday.

Why Use 50+ Pound Braid?
I have no way of validating the claim but I was once told that spatterdock lily stems can withstand an average of 18lbs of force. If you fish around something like that or heavy grass, etc.. then it makes sense to me.

Clearance Crucials
If you are looking for specific models, PM me and I will see if I can find what you're looking for near you. Look for the older model Curados also. They are $99.97 right now with an additional 25% off which makes them right around $75...that's an awesome deal. Also, check out the Field and Stream Tec Spec Elite rods. They aren't name brand but they are clearance +25% off and they are great rods for the price. All rods, reels, and combos that are clearance (.97 or .47 endings) should be 25% off the ticketed clearance price.

Topwater Frog Troubleshooting
If it's a hollow bodied frog (Spro, LiveTarget, Booyah Pad Crusher, etc...) then you are fishing it wrong. They shouldn't be fished fast enough to give them a chance to "spin." If it's a toad (Zoom Horny Toad, Ribbit, etc..) then I would suggest using a really light keel weighted hook. I use a 4/0 hook that has a 1/8th oz keel weight that not only adds casting distance but also keeps it right-side up.

Bass Pro Shops Rant I Just Dont Understand It.
Well yeah, just because one guy buys a few and does well with them doesn't make them profitable to the company. It's obvious but unfortunate sometimes. Also, there's a chance there was an issue with the supply side...maybe the production situation changed and they are either no longer available or have become too expensive to remain profitable.

Fishing Tackle Job?
I started as an hourly associate in the fishing/hunting department at a big box retailer. I moved up a couple times until recently I transitioned to the merchandise side of the business at the corporate office. Retail has it's downsides but I never really complained about getting paid to organize or talk about fishing tackle when I was doing it for free anyway...

Awesome, thanks for the tips. I hadn't really looked east of the city on google maps yet.

Why Isn't Quantum More Popular?
Besides TW, where do you see Shimano advertised online? I agree that they get more air time on some of the blogs but I'd hesitate to say that's due to more advertising. As far as TV and tournament stuff, Quantum has always advertised more than Abu and WAY more than Daiwa or Shimano.
-
Why Isn't Quantum More Popular?
Historically, I think Quantum seems to invest in pro sponsorships a lot more than Abu/Shimano/Daiwa, maybe that's started to change more recently. I think Abu seems to have figured out a good balance of sponsorships, other marketing, and product and that's why they've got a bigger piece of the pie than the others.

Stoeger Condor Or Uplander Info
In my previous position I sold lots of both. I wouldn't buy either unless I got a dynamite deal. We sent more of them back than any other gun that we carried...

Pittsburgh
Ok, so I've recently moved from Virginia to the Pittsburgh area for work. I'm looking for some tips on some local spots for largemouth or smallmouth and maybe even some musky. I don't currently have a boat but plan on bringing a small electric powered jon boat eventually. Thanks for any help

Meet And Greet On The Potomac August 24Th And 25Th
Correction....my boat is a 10 footer! My boat takes a little while to get around but it can get to places that no one else can get to. If the tide is low, I'm gonna be scooting across the flats into the back of the creeks while everyone else is stuck in the channels. Wayne, I use my trolling motor around Pohick. Not a problem at all but you have to stay in the bay or go back into the creeks, no main river. I would offer to have you out in my boat but you would sink us!

Meet And Greet On The Potomac August 24Th And 25Th
Depending on date I may be in. Pohick is a great place to fish and within running distance to a lot of great spots on the P'mac for guys with the bigger boats. Depending on the date, there should also be plenty of water for little boats to fish within Pohick bay itself. From the dates suggested, I can tell you guys that aren't familiar with the Potomac River to think grass. The game will be lots of grass and lily pads so bring baits along those lines. I fish Pohick and the surrounding area almost exclusively in the summertime and most days I get by throwing only a frog and/or toad. Spinnerbaits, shallow cranks, jigs, and buzzbaits should also be in your bags. You probably don't need to bring anything with treble hooks that dives deeper than 5' unless you are able to make some runs up or down the river. Anything that dives more than 2-5' with trebles will likely turn into nothing more than a weed retriever. It wouldn't hurt to also bring a few chatterbaits. They are very popular on the river. There is a HIGH probability of catching snakeheads in that area so bring a dispatching device or a cooler to throw them in. Wayne, bring your boat down. If you don't have your seat filled already, I can show you around and almost guarantee a snakehead or two as long as we hit the tides right. If you have already filled your seat, I will go out in my little jon boat and show you around. Oh, and once again, BRING FROGS

Scotts Run, Potomac River (Great Falls, Va)
The river is not tidal up there. I used to fish there when I was younger. I have not fished it in a while. Check it out on google maps' satellite view. You can see where there is some deeper water. That's probably where I would spend my time fishing right now.

Dsgs Has 2 Rods 4 Sale. Need Opinions.
Wait, so it was just a rod, not a combo? Was there more than one? There shouldn't be a Field and Stream/Shimano rod, only the combo. I'm thinking it might have been discounted so deeply because there was a reel and it went missing?

Dsg Clearance
The thing that makes it difficult is that often times only certain colors of a lure go on clearance. What happens is people see one color of lure X and think all of the lure Xs are on sale when it's really only that one color.
