  1. According to that website, walking at a slow pace burns about the same amount of calories as fishing. I don't think you can really argue that fishing is really any sort of exercise.
  2. I absolutely loved this chapter from the high school sociology/philosophy book!
  3. Not really obligated, but most stores (especially big box stores) have a policy to honor the price, depending on the circumstance.
  4. A little white sticker about 1.5"x1" that ONLY had a price? Usually those stickers include UPCs/SKUs and some sort of one line description and sometimes a vendor style number. If it had no identifying marks on it, it could very well be the correct tag for that item. I know at the end of the baseball season there are heavy discounts on bats to get rid of last year's models. It could very well be the same for lacrosse merchandise. My guess would be that it was probably last year's model on clearance and the price sticker on the item had probably not been updated since it took additional price markdowns (that's why it rang up for even less at the register). If it was one of those little stickers there is a chance that it was put on the wrong merchandise accidentally. There is also a chance it was put on the merchandise purposefully in order to get rid of it for inventory purposes or it was a return, or it was aged merchandise. For instance, say they have inventory coming up, sometimes they will find a clearance item and try to get rid of it before inventory and to do so, they print out one of those stickers with a manually adjusted price that isn't the same as the price in the register system. Another possibility is that the product had a UPC that was lost so they tried to put a label on it with a similar item and just didn't know the price difference was that great.
  5. Was this a sticker that was on the item or was it a sign in front of it? Always remember that in a box store it is incredibly difficult to fix every sign and/or item that customers misplace on a daily basis. DSG will most often honor the labeled price whether it is right or wrong EXCEPT in cases where it would be a significant loss for the company, it's all up to the managers.
  6. But they don't have corned beef hash!!!!
  7. Are you using a 7' or longer rod? If you use a 7'+ rod, braid, and there isn't anything wrong with bait or anything then my only guess would be you aren't setting the hook correctly.
  8. Were you using braided line?
  9. Thanks Shootermcbob. We now have everything cleared out of the basement (two bedrooms, long hallway, utility room with furnace and water heater which need replaced, bathroom and laundry room). Tomorrow we pull the wood paneling off the walls. We have 4 box fans and 2 dehumidifiers running non-stop.
  10. Here's a picture of the water draining from the yard down the stairs which eventually busted the door at the bottom of the stairs and filled my basement...
  11. I welcomed almost 5' (yes, FEET) of water into my basement today. Saved my guns, my tackle, a few bits of clothing but almost all of my other possessions are gone. Luckily the water did not get high enough to wash my boat off of it's saw-horses. I am going to be very busy in the near future.
  12. Is it access to all music or just music in a library that you have created yourself?
  13. My bet would be that the hookset isn't hard enough.
  14. All of those lakes are heavily pressured but all have big fish. The Occoquan Reservoir has a lot of good fish but it's difficult to fish it from their trolling-motor-powered rentals. It's fairly large and you'll be limited to how far you can travel. Burke is perfectly sized for trolling-motor-powered jons but it can be tough. Fishing at night is allowed and has been better for me personally. Pohick Bay is a bay/creek off of the Potomac near Lorton, VA. It is relatively shallow and weedy so I've been throwing a lot of frogs/toads there this summer. You'll also get a chance at some Northern Snakehead if that interests you.
  15. Sure you can, just not if you know it to be stolen property.
  16. I live in Falls Church. The closest places with rentals are going to be Burke Lake, Pohick Bay (Tidal Potomac), Fountainhead Park (Occoquan Reservoir) and Riverbend Park (Upper Potomac). Riverbend is the best of those places for smallmouth bass. They will be few and far between at the other locations. I have done well with a shakey head finesse worm and soft plastic jerkbaits but in all honesty I have not fished for smallmouth in a while.
  17. Don't worry. By the time you get through college you will have learned that there are plenty of people from different backgrounds, orientations, political views, etc...that are perfectly easy to get along with. If you have an issue that causes confrontation between you then avoid it. There's no reason why you have to discuss politics with everyone you hangout with. In fact, here's another tip to help you stay ahead of the curve in college. It is NOT cool to talk politics with strangers when you are drunk at a party. It takes most students all of their first two years to learn that. You're welcome.
  18. The sale is still on in VA. Just picked up a Stradic for super cheap.
  19. Oh, the FIP. It's easy, you can do it online and it's free.
  20. Dan: replied to Sam's topic in Everything Else
I was in CA during the Northridge earthquake in 1994 so I knew what was happening today so I didn't get too worried about it. Being so close to DC, I couldn't help but consider the thought of it being a blast coming from an attack or something. All the phone networks in the area were jammed for about an hour afterward.
  21. Register for what?
  22. The prices at the register are correct. The discrepancies are caused by the signage not being updated/changed which is generally due to poor staffing or laziness. All reels above a certain price point must be locked up as per company policy. The way the system is INTENDED to work is to have people ask the associate to see the display reel, then have the associate go get a new reel from the backroom when the customer decides to make the purchase. If they didn't have one of each reel on display then they were either hiding them for themselves* or behind the ball. Another possibility is that they didn't have room and wanted to display reels that are hot sellers. I sell probably 25-30 sub-$50 reels for every 1 over $50 reel. *They may hide the reels for themselves and keep them in a back room without purchasing them while they wait for the prices to continue dropping. Once something receives a .97 ending the price periodically drops until it is sold. If it's in the back room, eventually they can get it for super cheap. Obviously that's not an accepted practice but I'm sure it does happen.
  23. Scanned a Stradic today. It rang up as clearance and currently an additional 50% off so end price was like $69 or something like that. Checked the Curados, same deal (50% off clearance price) The prices are set by corporate but I have been unable to ascertain whether or not they are universal across the country or if the vary by region or even district.
