  1. The ones that I caught did not look post, but I believe I was catching mostly male fish which are very well fed there. The females in this place are considerably bigger than the males. The females seemed to have done their thing and disappeared back to suspending in deeper water. I only brought shallow baits (regular jerks and swimbaits) because that is all I have ever needed up there. Space is limited in the car for the trip to VT, can't bring everything with me.
  2. When are you leaving? Gotta do some fishing and buying before you take off...
  3. They were on beds in Vermont last weekend; many of the beds were empty already. Usually I tear it up when I am there. Not this year.
  4. May your days be filled with backlashes and catfish... :
  5. I would be willing to bet that a vast majority of the fish in your area have not seen any type of musky baits or larger baits in general. I can't tell you when to use them, but all the time seems good to me.
  6. I am not cutting on your choice, so just listen. Take the money you are going to spend on multiple inferior swimbaits and purchase just ONE good one. You will see why the baits cost as much as they do, because they work. I did the "cheaper" route when I started and had the same exact problems. I had Fourbizz tell me the same thing I just told you and I didn't listen at first. Save yourself money and headaches in the long run; buy a quality bait. Good luck.
  7. A small group of us will be there next week, fishing 5/1 to 5/8 launching from the Paris Marina. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, no detail too small. Thanks for the PM's I have received already. Wayne
  8. Ryan, I found that if I rip it a couple times, the bait will dive to about two feet. After that, I will start a medium retrieve which brings the bait back towards the surface. Throw in some pauses and I'm good to go. I will have to try the Suspend Dots. There are a couple areas I would really like to fish the bait deeper. Randall, thanks again for an awesome bait.
  9. Here she is sitting in the net, waiting for me to get my gear ready.
  10. LOL, I wish. Total weight of fish and angler is a little closer to 300. ;D
  11. I knew one of you guys would chime in. ;D 6-4 is correct. I really thought that it was going to be bigger but like Matt said, it was a relatively short fish that had fat gut.
  12. If you are only going to catch one fish during a trip, you have to make it count. I never get to do this so....Weight guesses anyone?
  13. Mike, I don't think J-B is going. See above.
  14. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. That is what makes the world go 'round.
  15. I know a certain Lake Erie fisherman who will disagree with that statement. He has more 6 pound smallmouth to his name than you can shake a stick at.
  16. As was mentioned before, you can GENERALLY tell when someone is lazy, someone is young, someone is less educated and when someone just doesn't give a rat's arse about their grammar. "Sounds like a fool" and being a fool are two totally different things. You can look back through any number of my posts and see that I have not called anyone a fool (well, maybe Pitchinkid and Burley), nor will I. Occasionally, I demonstrate the ability of biting my tongue for the exact purpose of not putting a kid out on front street. Matt, be honest about the situation. The majority of the habitual offenders are MORE than old enough to know better. When I take the time to type out a response longer than one sentence, I want the reader to see that I may have put some thought into a response. If someone were to respond to one of my questions and it looked like a first grade child typed it, how much credibility do you think I might give the post? If anyone expects to be taken seriously in any given situation, they should present themselves that way. Goofing around? Sure, type however you may like. I do it too on the less serious threads.
  17. I don't think that an attempt at proper grammar is too much to ask. Certain responses do not require full sentences while others do. I find it entertaining when someone asks a decent question, yet sounds like a complete fool because they did not take the time to proofread their post. Again, is it too much to ask?
  18. KVD L&L because it works. Any fluoro or mono gets the treatment. Braid gets it if the reel is sitting there.
  19. Maybe, if you are nice, I will let you reel the fish in. ;D Check your PM yo!!!
  20. Paul, keep us in mind the first week of May. Any info you could give us will be greatly appreciated. Wouldnt mind catching a few of those while we are down there.
  21. 5 hours, one way. Worth every minute.
  22. Look delicious, don't they? Top two are 3:16 Freestyle Herrings, last bait is made by Randall and is called the High Power Herring. These things are going to rip up this year.
  23. Also, if you havent seen one of the big screen monitors in action you are definitely missing out. The picture on this thing was clear, even in bright sun.
