I am looking for an all around spinning rod. Most of the time, this rod would be for throwing senko type baits. Ideally, I would like to be able to throw shakey heads and heavier drop shots with it as well. Any ideas between the two manufacturers listed above? How about rod models in those two brands? Thanks fellas

6lb 4oz caught fishing a Mattlures Hardgill off the edges of bluegill spawning beds.

Right now, I have a pair of Tropic Stars with the interchangeable lenses. They fit nicely, but I wouldnt mind something with a little bigger frame or larger lenses. I have tried on a limited number of Costas due to no one around me dealing them. The specs on the Tropic Stars are: Lens size: 55, bridge 19, temple 120, 8 base The only problem is that I am apparently sunglass spec illiterate as I have no clue what those numbers mean. I will be looking at the copper 580 lenses. Can you guys recommend any of the styles you think might fit my face?

Hard baits: Mattlures Hardgill, 3:16 Baby Wake and Jr, 9" Slammer (Dark Trout) Soft baits: 6" Hud (swimming), Mattlures Ultimate BG and baby bass (pitching)

Never pull out a pack of smokes around SB. After two days on the boat you'll be completely out. In my defense, that was a very stressful two days. Between the sunburn, lack of sleep and schooling you and Dan fishing the jig, I was pretty burned out... ;D I havent had one for two weeks and two days. It really started to make me feel like crap, so I just up and quit. No biggie.

Have done both. They are both equally bad for the individual. The one thing I will mention: No one has ever developed cancer from second-hand spitting.

Came home yesterday to find a box waiting for me.... Open it up and I see two of my favorite things in the entire fishing world: JIGS AND FLAPPIN' HOGS!!! Blaine, thank you so much. I cant wait to pitch these things on Pickwick with you guys next year. On an embarrassing side note, I am still waiting for one item to ship to you. I believe it is the one you will get the biggest kick out of too.... :-[ Hopefully it comes today. I can have Lauren 2 day ship it if comes with today's mail. Fingers crossed.

Agree with both above. I have the 7'6" H Okuma w/ a 301 Cardiff or 301 Curado D (great deal purchased around $100) What I am throwing for the day will typically determine what reel I use. Like Rick, I also like the 20lb CXX for most of my applications. Larger baits (4oz and over) I will typically switch to Triple Fish Camoescent 25lb and a 401 Cardiff.

I suppose we can give him a pass since he is 15, he is still a boy... Get that crap out of your system Dockmaster. ;D

I still stand by my statement, a simple task perform by a manager or an honest employee would have prevented this. I've seen at it K-mart. Some people would buy something, go back to electronic grab a 20" LCD TV and try carry it out the door while some employee would just see the receipt and let them walk out the door. It didn't happen at my store, but the loss and prevention manager told me it happen at other stores and he told me when someone shows you a receipt, read the dates and the items. All I'm saying is, if employees knew how do their job they wouldn't be having this problem. To me, that thinking is akin to saying that because someone forgot to lock their doors then it it their own fault someone stole their stuff. How about if I let my Antivirus software lapse for a month and someone steals my bank information? Is that not a crime? Many thefts can be prevented and big box stores do little to curb the practice, however it is still wrong. Honestly, I dont see any other valid perspective. To me, rationalizing his actions by placing blame on store employees is criminal thinking.

As far as size goes, that will vary depending on the particular bait. As far as brands go, you can't beat the Owner Hyperwire IMO.
