Rattles?
I have never added a rattle to anything. The only ones I have used are built into or already attached to the bait. I think that for finesse fishing, you are looking for subtlety and the rattle may detract from your presentation. Rattles seem un-natural in this situation... Wayne

3X Plastic?
Not sure, is it possible strike king has a patent on the material? I know other companies marked floating worms, and terminator makes the snap back plastics...both similar qualities of the 3x brand. Wayne

Baitcasting reels
Mods will likely move this, just a heads up. Start off slow, in your back yard with a weight attached to the line. 3/8oz bell sinkers work well as do the casting plugs they sell in stores. The hardest thing to do when first starting out is not trying to throw the bait as hard as you can. You need to develop a feel for how the line comes off the reel beneath your thumb. Be patient and practice, practice, practice....preferably where there are few trees!! ;D Wayne

Snakehead Fish problem in Maryland.
Ok, this is incorrect. Largemouth bass may be the most recognizable predator, but they are by no means the TOP predator. Put a 5lb bass in front of a 100lb blue cat or 50lb flathead cat and see what happens. Look how many smallmouth bass in the north have teeth marks on them from musky and pike taking shots at them. I totally disagree with your post. Wayne

fishing line
Mono is transparent, allowing light to pass through it. The hooks and red markings on baits are not transparent, hence the "bleeding" effect that is advertised. Wayne

question about stren superbraid
Just put some on my new Accurist, seems to cast just fine. I had only used Spiderwire Stealth before and the Stren seems to cast better than the stealth. Wayne

Crankin' Reels
First, thanks to everyone for overwhelmingly suggesting the Shimano Symetre for my newest spinning reel. Next, I wanted to make an all around good setup for cranking...from shallow up to and including DT16's and DD22's. Already got a Lamiglass rod, now again with the reel questions. The shallower cranks are of no concern to me, as just about anything will suffice when throwing these. When you get into the big bills and big baits for the deep cranking, what reel do any of you suggest? I know those bigger cranks have a tendency to wear out anglers and equipment, so I want something that will alleviate both problems effectively. Gear ratio? Brand/Model? Keep in mind that, again, I am not rich. Let's try to not break the bank Thanks, Wayne If anyone needs more specifics, please let me know.

What do you think is happening with fishing?
I think with the assistance of places like this forum, the sport will continue to grow and expand. Take the Tournament trail for example. A few years ago, you pretty much had to consistently WIN to stay in the money. With the sponsor power that bass fishing is generating now, even the guy that comes in twentieth place is cashing a decent check. I think the money alone will attract more and different people to the sport. I also look at it this way. As stressful as life can be, people are going to look for different ways to relax on the days they have off. What better way than cruising around a lake all day, wetting a line. With the exposure from television and advertising, there is no limit to the number of potential new fisher-people (I will be PC for once) Wayne
